The roster freeze for the COVID-19 pandemic is now in place and the Habs made one move, sending down Jake Evans. The move saves them a bit of money in terms of real dollars but will make it harder to get Charles Hudon back down if the AHL winds up resuming regular season play (or they do an extended postseason). http://www.habsworld.net/2020/03/habs-assign-jake-evans-to-laval-before-roster-freeze/

Most of us were hoping that the Habs would send Jesperi Kotkaniemi down and we got our wish today as the Habs have indeed assigned him to Laval. He's likely to play tonight for Laval.

Juulsen's had a rough stretch since coming back and the Habs have decided to send him to Laval. Mete's on his way back up to take his spot.

Meat (Mete) to the minors. I think this is actually necessary if we ever want him to develop offensively. He’s pretty stagnant right now and needs to get PP time and be a key cog for a significant time in Laval. The guy is still just a kid. Loads of time for him to improve yet.

Considering he was a healthy scratch today and that he was the 13th forward in practice Sunday (before de la Rose came up), it's not a big shocker that the Habs sent McCarron down. His effectiveness was dropping by the game and as a result, his ice time was fading as well. He needs top six minutes in the minors to work on his skill game if he wants to be more than a checker in the NHL. He did a bit better this time up than he did last year at least.

Common sense has finally prevailed, the Habs have sent Mikhail Sergachev back to Windsor of the OHL. I suspect there will be a recall or two coming after 5 PM today.

Demoted Tinordi assigned to Hamilton Dumont back up April 4th

Hopefully that's good news with respect to players potentially coming back from injury. White skated on his own today, perhaps he'll be ready to come back soon. Both players will be back with the Habs in a few weeks when Hamilton's season ends. I imagine Weber is also ready to go. -
We had a thread on Dumont's recall, so why not him? With Weber suffering a knee injury sometime during the game last night, the Habs need an insurance policy as they're down to six defencemen. Pateryn was injured with a fractured elbow early in the season and has only played 22 games with the Bulldogs so far this season but has been arguably their top defenceman over the past month. He has more goals with Hamilton than in any of his collegiate years. I like this choice over the other options, he's the most well-rounded of the group. If anyone's wondering, he'll wear #64 if he plays.
