Loic Locasse- Locasse is the 1st goalie drafted from the QMJHL since Mathieu Garon was taken 44th overall in ’96. Locasse doesn’t have the best numbers, but he also played on a defensively weak Drakkar team, much similar to Habs free agent signee of ’01 Olivier Michaud who also played for Drakkar. Locasse has good size, moves well, and seems to control his rebounds well.

Home to Quebec in Round 6

A talent from the QMJHL’s Baie Comeau Drakkar, goaltender Loic Lacasse heard his name announced by the Canadiens with the 181st overall selection in the draft.

A native of Granby, QC, the six-foot-2, 175-pound Lacasse played in 41 games last season with a mediocre Baie Comeau team that finished last in the East Division with just 21 wins. Despite a porous defense in front of him, Lacasse maintained a respectable 3.99 goals-against average and save percentage of .891. He posted a record of 9-15-4 and played in four postseason games.

"With the departure of Baie Comeau's frontline goaltender, Julien Walsh, we expect Lacasse to become the team's No. 1 man between the pipes in 2004-05," Timmins revealed. "That should obviously help his game tremendously and give him some valuable experience."

Lacasse, who cites the Canadiens as his favorite NHL club, attended Antoine-Girouard College ahead of joining the Drakkar.
