Hi, i just wanted to know which of the two team played better. I saw on the stats that Hamilton took 38 shots and Rochester took 29 which is still a high number of shots, and was wondering if Hamilton played good and just blew it at the end or were trying hard for the whole game. Thanks for a response.

Sorry, cant help you here. The game was on the radio, so I really couldnt say which team played better (and I also didnt listen to tonights game, lol). Lately Hamilton has been playing better, and either playing as well as the other team, or outplaying them, but the Dogs have been losing because of bad luck, and bad goaltending (Ellis) , at least thats my opinion...

To Answer Thunderbutt: Yes, like Fanpuck said NHL/AHL games last on average 2 and 1/2 hours. For the NHL each period has 3 commercial breaks, each break is 90 seconds (3 ads of 30 seconds each), and intermissions of 15 minutes long (it might be 17... I forget).

And for the record, I prefer ad breaks then ad-filled hockey jerseys. But maybe thats because its what I grew up with, its what I'm used to. I like having breaks to grab something to eat, or goto the washroom (But not in the playoffs, thats bad luck!) plus it gives me a chance to think about the last few minutes of play, and think about how well the team is playing.

Well, those are in soccer for a good reason, soccer is played in 2 non-stop 45 minute halfs. Hockey/Basketball/Football have many stoppages in play. Removing the breaks from the game would fatigue the players.

Like I said, personally I like the breaks. If gives me a minute to think about things, like the habs chances in the game, and who is playing well. Sure I could use the intermission for that, but I like both. I dont think the stoppages in play kill any momentum a team has gained, teams are adapted to the stoppages now. If a pane of glass breaks though, thats a different story... 5-10 minute breaks are not fun.
