puck7x
This is one big issue that I have been wondering about. Will the 04-05 year of player contracts be honoured even though the league took a year off lockedout? http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/2005/...108340-sun.html This decision will change ALOT, either we'll see a boatload of new UFA's... or we'll just have the remaining UFA's from before the lockout began. For the habs this means... If 04-05 counts we'll have a higher payroll (and less cap space then we originally thought) but everyone except Ryder (and well Kovalev the UFA) will be under contract. On the other hand if 04-05 is thrown out then the Habs will have to re-sign UFA"s Koivu/Theodore (depending on th e new CBA ufa age) , and have RFA's like Ryder, Bulis, Bouillon, Hossa, Ward. On the plus side we'd be in the last year of Brisebois's contract and could buy it out for 1 million.
