gohabsgo252006
Does anyone have any good scouting reports, or better yet has anyone seen him play and can give us a little hint as to what we can expect when we see him this evening. REgardless I'm assuming he'll be better than Streit...but that doesn't mean much. As of right now I know he's 23 years old, 6'2" 215ish and is a left handed shot. mathieug
Drafted by the Maple Leafs in the 2000 draft, 9th round, 265 overall. «Jean-Philippe a beaucoup progressé au cours des deux dernières années. On trouve même qu'il s'améliore depuis le début du camp. Il est un défenseur [...] doté d'un bon sens du jeu.» -Claude Julien 20/9/2005

gohabsgo252006
Thanks for all the info...from what it seems, he might actually fit nicely into our D-corps, let's hope he seizes his opportunity and can show what he has. I'm most concerned about our own zone and he can be solid there which it seems is his strength i hope he can stick with the big club. KoZed
I've seen Coté play in junior quite a lot. He was a good prospect back then. Coté is like a young, developping, poor man's Foote: well rounded defensively (few brain cramps, physical) but has limited offensive upside. He's safe and does everything right but nothing really sticks out either, which explains why he's coming along slowly since he needs to improve a little of everything to become better overall. Physically he looks a bit like Rivet. He has the same type of mentality his father (Nordique's Alain Coté from "Disallowed-Habs-Eliminating-Goal-that-Kerry-Fraser-called-off-but-was-good" fame) had: good ethic, solid shift-to-shift, shows up for every game, etc. If he keeps on his learning curve, Cote could become a safer version of Rivet in 2 or 3 years.
