huzer
It was strange to read yesterday's post and actually see a tiny little note about the Habs: Trouble with Canadiens A few weeks ago, hockey's bible, The Hockey News, wondered aloud on its cover if the Montreal Canadiens would "return to glory" this season. The answer, at least at the moment, appears to be "no". The Canadiens' 3-1 loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday night dropped them to 2-6-1 in their previous nine games. In those games, they scored 10 goals. Captain Saku Koivu has been in and out of the lineup with injuries and isn't scoring when he's healthy. Goalie Jose Theodore is playing well, but speculation is starting to gain momentum that management will try to unload his big salary ($5 million-plus per year) before the season is through. Are you listening, Avalanche general manager Pierre Lacroix? Well for one, I wouldn't say Saku has been in and out of the lineup, as that's a little misleading. (He was merely out, now he's back in.) And I'd like to know where Adrian Dater is getting his "speculation" information about Theo. What was also funny is that they had Bulis in the "Highlights" section of the paper, for his 2 goals against Ottawa. Lighting the Lamp Montreal forward Jan Bulis scored his second and third goals of the season, incuding the game winner in a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Habs77
Trading away Theo for financial reasons is so stupid, this writter just showed how ignorant he really is. Only reason Theo would be traded was if it was the only way to improve the team up front significantly ASAP and Gainey believed Garon was our future #1. Cutting salary would not be the reason.
