Any News On Ward And Rivet?

Will Ward be out for awhile? How about Rivet's wrist? I think we will really miss Ward. Especially on the penalty kill with Juneau and Dackel out as well. On the bright side, we should see more of Balej and get a better read on him at the NHL level.

Is their something wrong with Rivet's wrist? I know it looked like he may of injured it in last nights game when he was taken into the boards , but he kept playing...

As for Ward , my guess is that he will be out at least a month... But I'm not a doctor ... No official word yet.

He took a slash on the wrist while going behind the net last night. From sources at some other boards, he has apparently been having trouble with that wrist already. I was just wondering if anyone had heard something similar. Hopefully he is okay. I know alot of fans don't like him and he has had a bit of trouble lately, but I for one feel his is a decent player when used properly. :ghg:

Yeah Rivet has had wrist problems for a few years now, although how serious they are is hard to figure.

During the 2nd half last year Rivet consulted a couple of the best specialists out there about his wrist... it looked like he might have to get season-ending surgery, or that was the rumor anyway.

Pierre McGwire, a good friend of Rivet's, kept saying on the radio on brave & heroic Rivet was... that he shouldn't be playing at all with such a screwed up wrist.

But instead nothing was done, and Rivet even went on to play for Canada after the season was over... so how bad could it really have been?

So this year he has sucked rocks, then he gets slashed yesterday and the wrist talk comes up again.

It's old news, exagerated, if it hurts so bad then do us a favor & don't dress.

As for Jason "always in the emergency" Ward, he follows in the great tradition of Brunet & Koivu... injuries-R-us.

The ankle was a freak thing, but this time it's about him having to learn to protect himself... not leaving himself in vulnerable positions like that.

Just when he was playing well too...

The media keeps saying we've been spared from injuries this year and that's why we're successful... but it seems to me like we've had quite a few injuries:

- Koivu missed the 1st month

- Ward missed 2 months with broken ankle, now this

- Kilger hurt his eye and missed a few months

- Begin out 2 months with shoulder injury, missed time early as well...

- Langdon was also injured when he came over and missed some games

- Breezer was out for a while

- Markov missed a few weeks

- Quintal has his irregular heartbeat, missed some time

- Sundstrom was injured for a while

- Dido Dackell

- Juneau has been out at various times because of his bad back

- Perreault was although injured for a while.. even if we never noticed he was gone

For a half-year I'd say that's not exactly what I'd call "spared from injuries".

It has seemed though that as one goes down, another is coming back... and with our decent depth we've managed to keep things rolling.

It also helps that we've had a small nucleus of core players who have managed to stay healthy... Ribeiro, Ryder, Zednik, Bulis, Souray, Theo.

They have been the constant core, while the others have been in & out of the lineup.

While I agree with almost everything you said, I have to disagree about Rivet. Well...kind of anyway. He did suck eggs for most of this year, he has played quite well the last couple weeks. I hate to see him hurt when he was just starting to get his game back. On the positive side, If he is badly injured again, it opens up a spot for Komisarek for a few more games. I think he played the best game I have seen from him yet against Philly then had to sit out last night when Markov came back.

 lol, Jason "Always in the Emergency" Ward. Good one :/)

I think we should send Rivet to Souray's wrist doctor now, rather than at the end of the season. I'm sure Komisarek would appreciate the time, Rivet would be primed and tuned (and shooting 200 mph) for the playoffs, and we'd welcome him back. Well, we might welcome him back.

I'm more interested to see what our forward lines are going to look like when Begin's back (back again... Baggy's back... tell a friend...). Will we send Balej back down? Will Kilger and others sit?

Find out next week, same Bat time, same Bat channel

Ward practiced today with the team much to everyones surprise , Ward said he feels 100% and can rotate his arm completely ... Its an amazing turnaround from the scene on Friday night when he was on the ice screaming in pain...

Ward did not give a date for a return though , but from the looks of it , he'll be back soon.

Also ..... Begin will resume full contact practices with the team this week , but like Ward he did not give a date for a return...

AND.... A number of players including Koivu , Souray , Juneau , Dackell took off the Sunday practice because they were nursing injuries and/or needed rest.
