  1. Sounds good to me. I'd rather trade Kostitsyn for the future than continue holding onto perceived potential for a third of the season.
  2. TSN is saying Kostitsyn would be a top five winger for trade bait this year. That's also with them including guys like Van Riemsdyk and Nash on the list, who might not actually be moved. He'll get at least a second.
  3. I never knew he knew Aaron Palushaj. Maybe they'll create some chemistry.
  4. Shocks me that anyone would be in bad shape with Timmins around...
  5. Hard working fourth liner who gets goals when you least expect it. If he was younger and faster, Hab fans would adore him. His defensive game is also underrated.
  6. My hope with Kostitsyn and Moen is that we end up either with a first in 2012 and a second in 2013 or we get a collection of a 2nd in 2013 and a third with 2012 along with a prospect. Basically, I want Montreal to get an extra third in 2012 and an extra second in 2013. A second in 2013 would be more valuable than in 2012 if in fact Montreal can make a turnaround.
  7. I still think waiver eligibility or not we'll see him called up after the deadline. Especially if Montreal moves Darche.
  8. I have no interest in Kostitsyn returning. As for his return, at least a second round pick. I could see a team like Detroit or Vancouver giving up a first since they don't really need them as badly.
  9. Dustin Penner on the Habs? How could Montreal ever bring in a guy who eats more than Guillaume Latendresse?
  10. It would be really, really awesome if Tinordi was magically ready next season. I agree that Kaberle should be with Diaz or a guy Montreal signs/trades for with grit instead of Emelin. I'd love to see Emelin with the elusive Andrei Markov.
  11. All three are two way players, just young two way players. I think I'd like to see Montreal try Louis Leblanc as a fourth line center between Geoffrion and White.
  12. Geoffrion still scraps and might scrap more if he's fighting on the Habs because there are a lot less fighters than Nashville has.
  13. I'm of three beliefs: 1. The new CBA will allow for a no penalty buy-out and Montreal will use it on Gomez. 2. Gomez will be placed in the minors to play with Wade Redden and Devin Setoguchi. 3. The next Canadiens GM will be smart enough to craft a trade for Gomez to a team that wants his cap hit to artificially inflate their total cap. Good owners and good GMs find ways to find regardless of the issue in front of them and if Montreal wants to win, they need to re-sign Eller, Subban and Price to whatever it takes.
  14. Again, I was making a comparison based on player type. Otherwise I don't think people would have understood what I meant when I called Kaberle a glass cannon. They likely would have assumed I meant Sheldon Souray because he has a hard shot and is easily breakable.
  15. What is this, 1996 again? Molson didn't purchase the Montreal Expos. He purchased the Montreal Canadiens. If he is unwilling to spend an extra $10M in Hamilton for the better of the team, he might as well go ahead and sell it to someone else.
  16. I don't hate Kaberle at all. I was making a comparison to how Bergeron and Kaberle are pretty much glass cannons. They'll provide offensively but don't do much in their named position. I also don't believe he's untradeable. There's no such thing in any sport.
  17. Honestly, now that I think about it, if we trade Gill, Kostitsyn, Moen, Campoli and Darche and still make the playoffs? Hey, cool. Honestly, what else could the team do? They put an incompetent rookie coach with an incompetent rookie assistants and is doing nothing to stop Cole, Pacioretty and Price's performances. The boys are going to play.
  18. I would honestly prefer Kaberle as our seventh D-man than a guy like Weber or Campoli. He still has a good pass but should be playing third string minutes unless we get a ton of powerplays. Having Kaberle for two more seasons is a lot like if we ended up keeping Marc-Andre Bergeron.
  19. With his size and tenacity, I'd be fine with him being a bottom six winger who learns a strong defensive game and can be occasionally used on the top six. Anything better is just that. Better. People should recognize he was in a similar situation that Lars Eller was in with the Blues. Once Moen and Kostitsyn are gone from the bottom six, there will be a lot of room for Geoffrion.
  20. Brad Boyes is a shootout master. But not tonight. Patches... gets it! Buffalo did a good job proving they were a much, much worse team than Montreal.
  21. Montreal has basically been saying, "Here, Buffalo. Win the game" and Buffalo keeps losing the puck with empty nets.
