when it comes to Emelin we all (including fans and management) have our collective heads in the sand. He is a terrible d-man. He has been terrible for years. He looked good earlier because he was paired with Weber. Petry is no Weber and just can't cover for Emelins' f--k ups. There is no one to pair Emelin with..(he may end up with Weber again before its all said and done). He costs the team 3 goals last night. Did you see Petry's reaction on the 3rd goal??? literally saying WTF...He is not hurt... except for his hockey IQ = which has been in a coma for the past 3 years... -
i agree...MB has a two year window tops.. i know there are folks here that give him an A+ / A-. I disagree. i DO give him credit because he has managed to keep the core together, and that is not an easy thing to do. But his negatives are just too many. While we are all clamouring (and rightly so) for a top Center; we also have major issues on D. In fact we only have two D-men on this team: Markov and Weber; the other 4-5 are a mess. Why ? Because the pairings a mess and will continue to be a mess. Let me stress this is not a coaching issue. As I have mentioned before (in another thread) the problem with our D is that there is NO ONE to pair with Emelin...this has been a problem for years now...The coaches are forced to play him because of his contract...but he simple is the worse D on our team and has been for a while now. That MB hasn't seen this or, has seen it but hasn't done anything about it, makes me wonder about MB. Also, if even an ounce of speculation about Subban being traded because of MT is true, then MB is a total (blank)... *fill in the blank

LOL...Calgary is (and has been) on fire...c'mon man..last night the Habs looked like an AHL team...the flu can be a bitch; let's hope that was the issue. I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the flu bug and injuries to Plex and Radulov are starting to show.., Plex is having an off year, but he does the little things right and Rad is Rad. The moves MB made at the deadline are already starting to show little in the way of dividends. Benn looks like the 7th D-man that he is...Not sure what King is doing out there (really wtf??). Ott was picked up for obvious reasons; winning faceoffs because #27 can't...so we get a player to prop up another player. ps. I watched the Kings vs Preds last night...wow. totally different brand of hockey. pss. Weber DID make Emelin a better player, to he detriment of his own play...Emelin in a rut???? He's been in a rut for years. Petry must be pissed, forced to play with a blockhead like Emelin - who has zero hockey IQ.

LOL ...Don i remember that like it was yesterday...i was at a get-together and, by his reaction, everyone thought he had shattered his hand...it was just a bruised glove. He was embarrassed though and played his best for us after that, at least for a while. I do not like the Kessels (floaters) of this world but for AK i make an exception...

what great, or even good, trade and or pick-up has MB made? the Weber - PK deal made absolutely no sense. AT BEST it's a wash. Getting Radulov was pure luck...signing Vanek? ok that was a good one and it took some balls. More recently tho??...Signing Shaw?? Montoya?...i don't think so. Frankly his best move so far was stealing Byron from Calgary.. let's not even talk about his pal MT...so far i give him an E for effort. On the positive side he signed Price, Max, Gally, Weber, Chucky, Plex to long term deals, Plex was a mistake but let's give MB the benefit of the doubt - I don't believe anyone could have predicted what's happening to him. But the core group is signed...he gave himself a 2 year window Being a GM in the NHL and specifically in MTL, has to be the easiest job ever...

One thing for sure..this kid can score ...so let him shoot from the high slot -- a la #67. its clear to everyone, including my 90 year mother, MB needs to somehow find a bonafide centerman to feed him . always with the caveat that it's easier said than done. as for #27, are we afraid he might become, say, another Phil Kessel?? A one-way, one dimensional player - well, let's see - Kessel has 21 goals so far and prolly end up with ~30 this year again. I'm not really comparing him to Kessel...but my point is Not every player is cut out to be a two-way player. The Habs have a bit of a history of not letting pure goal scorers be just that. Chucky is an EXCITING player to watch. As pure a goal scorer as MaxPac on a team that needs goals.. Is #27 good in his zone? Meh. Is he good in the face off circle? Meh,Does he win his battles for the puck? Meh...Does he play small? Meh, he plays kinda small for a 6'1" 210 pounder....So okay. We all know this in spades by now ...its hard to watch over and over again. The only reason Danault is still on the top line is because he is very responsible with and/or without the puck, AND still manages to generate some offense. I blame the genius for Galchenyuk's slow development when it comes to a solid two-way game...he kept putting DD and a host of others at C instead of #27. MT was an idiot who cost us PK and will probably cost us N8 (also another victim of MT's ego and lack of coaching skills), and he seriously delayed #27's overall development. One thing is for sure, this team is starting to look and feel differently ...and that in of itself, is very exciting development.

MB is counting on Galchenyuk to become a stud C. Let's pray he is right. I know, i know..he scored two goals in two nights and that's great...those two goals BTW had nothing to do with him playing center. I might be the only voice here that is not sold on him as a C. As a winger sure..but not a C. This obsession with #27 as our top C is hurting us because it gives MB an excuse (time and again) for not pulling the trigger on a bonafide heart and soul centerman. At this point WHY try to make him a C? Just put him on the wing and let him score goals ...I would rather see Max at center with Rad and Chuck on the wings Now wouldn't that be a line? why not. Addendum: BTW, i blame MT and his love for DD and DLR, etc...for #27's slow development at center, Sorry to say BUT MTs signature on this team is a bit of a b-tch...PK is gone because of him, N8 hasn't developed into a top 4 because of him, and numerous other nuances. hopefully CJ will put everything right for #27, and #28..and the rest of the team. As i am sure all fans are, I am really excited for the next game... can't say i have felt that in a long while..its great. Is this a CJ surge...maybe. but they have proven they don't give up like they used to
