  1. 2 goals and 8 assists in 38 games this year. He may actually be our offensive derenseman.
  2. As if Rychel, Valiev or that second round pick will be the reason this team has success in the future. Right value? Yes. Fired without making the move just for that reason? No. On a seperate yet related note, we also traded Jerabek.
  3. You must be in a pretty dark place for that to be the first time you’ve brought it up since.
  4. The trade deadline is so uneventful that I find myself washing dishes simultaneously to keep entertained.
  5. I think Stastny should be on our mind in the off season.
  6. Oh alright, so just as I thought most people are disappointed in Pacioretty because of their high expectations of him. In the end, he’ll be off his career averages by about 5 points, and still lead the team in scoring. Such a tragedy. I am comparing apples to oranges and Pacioretty will likely end with an apples to oranges point total difference when compared to Gallagher by season’s end. Similar to every other season. I say that because Gallagher has been ahead in points and Pacioretty has recently caught up and took over. Once the trade deadline passes over, there will be less distractions and he will likely thrive. The team is out of the running but don’t be surprised when it happens for him individually.
  7. He’s played some games at center. We lost badly in one of those games, not that it was his fault.
  8. Exactly. The team is having a bad season. Not Pacioretty. He would still be the leader in points with a better Habs squad, or top 2, just like he always is. Drouin is doing even worse.
  9. Terrible season while leading the team in points scoring. Meanwhile, Gallagher is having a “fine year”’.
  10. Yeah, after some more thought it doesn’t mean too much. I just felt as though the organization’s priority in having him back would be to save money on his next contract, and here we are still paying half his salary this year when he’s not even here. That’s more of an issue for Molson and his pocket though. It won’t make a difference in regards to the cap.
  11. On another note, retaining his salary seems a little odd if we actually were going to resign him.
  12. As already discussed, the Bruins traded Spooner for Nash. We’re going to need better than that.
  13. If we resign him, I’m happy. Not simply because we get Plex back but because the Leafs lose everything in the deal outside of Baun. I found the notion unlikely but the fact that he was traded to the Leafs makes it seem more possible than yesterday. If he doesn’t resign with us, mixed emotions depending how the Leafs do. Call it what you like but I wouldn’t have loved seeing him on Philly or Boston during the playoffs either.
  14. I was going to reply “Niemi will let in a goal” but I didn’t want to!
  15. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s the most positive thing I’ve seen Alzner do this season, other than skate beyond the opposing team’s goal line this one time. I missed his lone goal this year and all its replays.
  16. Most pleased I’ve been with Alzner all season is seeing him drop the gloves with Stamkos
  17. I’m just trying to understand. Couldn’t the same question be asked about why Montreal would do the deal? We would consider trading Pacioretty for Ekmann Larsson even though he’s an UFA in 2019 as well? Comparatively, It’s not like Ekman Larsson is miles ahead. I’m personally not 100% certain Pacioretty won’t resign here. Though from only what I hear and read, I admit a lot would have to go right. Including the actual amount and term he seeks. I don’t see how we would be any more certain that Ekmann Larsson would sign here than Pacioretty. We come to the same conclusion though. Deal won’t happen for either team.
  18. And that probably would be the case with a Plekanec should they move him. I feel as though the reason to trade him is because we could get some value for a player who the organization no longer feels “has it”, or fills a void. It’s not to get value for a player who still brings something to the table and could possibly return in the summer. If we trade him, the organization will have said good riddance. I keep hearing things like “Julien really likes him” so if that is the case it becomes a little less obvious that he moves.
  19. Sorry if that came off as a slight on Patrick. I expect good things out of him. The point was that even a high draft pick like him takes time to develop and have a positive impact on the team, let alone a second rounder or a third rounder. Draft picks are great but I don’t automatically assume they will be more effective than even an over the hill veteran player who serves a clear purpose. Anyway, a second rounder for him and I won’t complain loudly, because that’s also 6 million available cap space. Second + anything and I’m thanking Plekanec for his services. Anything less than a second rounder and I think about keeping him for the 2-3.99 million suggested.
  20. If true, that gives him 7 goals on the left side of the ice, as well as 2 goals anywhere else on the ice. Not exactly staggering numbers. He also scored a rebound goal against the Islanders right in the center of the ice so I’m not sure how accurate the stat is. Finally, it’s possible to enter the zone on the right wing and circle around the net and end up on the left side of the ice. That’s exactly what he did prior to heading to the net on that rebound goal against the Islanders. In early January when Drouin was moved from center to wing, he was moved to right wing. The first thought that comes to mind is “well, we have Pacioretty on the left, so that makes sense”. The thing is that he was placed on a line with DeLaRose and Galchenyuk, not Pacioretty. Galchenyuk-DeLaRose-Drouin
  21. I think Plekanec has certainly regressed but I also think this year has potential to be the worst season in the rest of his career. I also mainly think that it’s a hard argument to make that any second rounder or third rounder will have such an enormously more positive impact than Plekanec. In 5 years? Without a doubt. But we will also have found other ways to get a second or a third pick in that timespan as well. Take Nolan Patrick, for example who was a second overall pick and has less points that Plekanec does. I’m not trying to advocate keeping Plekanec but I also don’t think there should be such polarizing view on the topic. It’s a minor difference either way, most likely. It seems to me that those who are so extreme on having him gone no matter what simply want a change of scenery. That’s fine and all, but it’s not likely a move that will improve our team to a major extent either way. I guess it’s more likely to hit a home run in the second or third round with a draft pick, than know what you have with Plekanec already at this point in his career though.
  22. I agree that the effort was astounding My expectations are also that the the Habs will win Coincidently I happen to be in your area today Organizing a get together over the internet is far fetched though Maybe sometime in the future we could attend a game In the mean time I’ll just keep watching on TV No better promise that the Habs will continue their other streak Go on now, enjoy the rest of your day
