  1. One of the biggest thrills in my life was the half hour I spent talking one-on-one with the Rocket at the Long Beach Convention Center about 2 years before he passed away. He was there to do a card show signing at 2pm Saturday afternoon but he arrived at noon and had time to kill.....what a gentleman! I tried to speak in French to him to make him feel at home, but seeing how I was struggling, he kept replying in English....... I was so awestruck that the whole conversation was a blur....I remember him actually asking me what part of Montreal I grew up in and then saying he didn't live too far away in Ahuntsic (sp?)....When he had to go he was gracious enough to give me an autograph on this poster I bought at the show (so I didn't have to wait in line or even pay for it like I was planning to do) .
  2. Agree with you about the poor selection of pix, but love this quote: Huet called it ''an honour for me to play for this organization, with all the past and glory of this team.'' Good quotes from Gainey as well....thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  3. What I love about Ovechkin is his youthful enthusiasm after he scores.......very refreshing attitude!!.....that being said: MTL 5 Wash 0 (Begin, Plex, Koivu (2), Ryder)
  4. We win a few games, and we're ready to dump a guy who's played his heart out for this team? Give me a break! Bulis is a valuable part of this organization, and I just think it's just a matter of time before he and Gainey agree as to what his role on this team will be..........Know why? Cause. at the end, he's a team player!!
  5. ....and that was in the "old" NHL when hooking & holding were commonplace w/o penalty, making Huet's stats this year even more astounding.
  6. Settle down boys!!! we're all on the same team here....and lose the name-calling.......both Zed and Cube are instrumental parts of this team....each has a role....each has a function..sometimes they perform, sometimes they don't.......guess what? You're both right! Move on....
  7. Hey westcoast, where you been all this time? Certainly hope that you weren't still wasting your time on the ESPN board ....btw, how is Lindenfan?
  8. Are you sure that the Leaf fan didn't just "donate" it.......after all, there was no more use for it!
  9. Looked more like a forearm......in any event it got the job done.
  10. For those of you unlucky to have not seen it, here is the still of Kovy steamrolling Tucker....we need to start coming up with some captions for this one! (BTW....Tucker actually appears as if he was thinking about taking another dive, but then somehow realized that he was actually going to be steamrolled in the 3rd period of 6-2 game) http://cbs.sportsline.com/nhl/gamecenter/r...0060325_TOR@MON
  11. Thanks for the info, but the last thing I want to do is spend a better part of my day going through Leaf boxscores.
  12. That would actually be quite an interesting stat to research. But where?
  13. Wow, 4? You must have some inside info....is Dean Warren reffing again tomorrow?
  14. Speaking of which.....does anyone know the over/under on how many 2-man advantages the Leafs will be awarded tomorrow? If it's only at 1.5, I'm betting the Over!!
  15. Tonight's Predictions: Habs 5, Isles 2 Canes 6 Leafs 4 Bruins 3 Thrashers 2 (OT) Philly 4 Devils 2 This will be a very profitable night!
  16. Well we lost the first game against the 'Canes by 2 goals, the second game by 4 goals, and the third game by 6 goals.......let's reverse the pattern and beat THEM by 8!! GHG!! (Please..... no Sundstrom!!!!!)
  17. Here's what bothers me about the recent linup changes....SUNDSTROM!! He looks lost out there, IMO he should not be in the lineup.....Although I love Higgins, for now I'd rather see him on the PK than the PP (enter Kovy), but now BG has Plex playing with Sundstrom...Higgins was doing a great job on the PK, and was actually creating chances short-handed. Also, Sundstrom's insertion into the lineup keeps guys like Downey/Murray in the pressbox.....although these guys don't score, they keep the opposition "D's" head on a swivel, opening up room for others. And I don't recall either of these 2 guys taking stupid penalties....in fact Downey has drawn a few retaliation penalties.
  18. Although he didn't suck as much as he usually does, Sundstrom really has not been that effective in the 2 games he's played....I'd rather see the post-Olympic lines back together....although Downey hasn't really produced offensively, he has drawn a few penalties and has been good on the forecheck getting into the defenseman's face.....or I would even settle playing with 7 "D" and dressing Simpson to play with Bonk & Begin.
  19. Please relax, everyone....Saku will be OK once he gets a little bit of rest.
  20. WTF?? Ribs must have centred a line of Downey & Garth Murray....each is a +2 for the game.
  21. Yeah, I know what you mean, but if the Leafs lose again tonight, I don't think they'll be anybody's problem anymore.....and we still play them twice more when they'll be more interested in golfing than hockey.......the same can already be said about the Bruins who we play 3 times more (if I'm correct).
  22. Somehow I believe the Boomer WILL be watching....just from a different vantage point.
  23. Sorry, but I never want the Make-Beliefs to win....we'll take care of our own business on Monday night when we play the Lightning.
  24. I am truly amazed by some of this guy's skills.....Boardwork, Stickhandling, Skating, Shooting, Puck Strength, and most important of all. .....BRAINS! I am so glad that both CJ and BG gave this guy a chance to gain confidence at this level.....he has become one of our most dangerous players, especially when he's killing penalties. Ironically with the Rangers in town, I wonder if he would have been given the playing time if we had decided to keep Hossa or Ward.
