  1. Totally forgot about Milroy- whatever happened to Locke the OHL leading scorer.
  2. I have written about Saint Koivu in other threads look athe fire sale thread. Christopher Higgins is actually a center
  3. Once again I have to repeat for the zillionth time when he was in New York he was considered a defensive forward on a defensive line. A little like what Perez is doing with the Habs presently. They didn't need his offensive skills with the Rangers bacuase of players like Messier and Graves. Once he joined the Penguins he was given offensive responsibilities. Clearly it was a salary dump, when he left the Penguins but not the way you seem to suggest. He was not dumped because of his poor play, the opposite is true he was dumped because they could not afford to pay him because of his outstanding stats. The same reason the Penguins dumped Jagr. Agree about everything except maybe Ryder. I would never let go of snipers. They are not easy to find.
  4. I have a suggestion. Look at what the penguins are doing with youth. How bout if we trade Koivu and Souray and make Christopher Higgins the captain and let this team suffer next year with young players. Even though Higgins is struggling now, he has already shown skills that Koivu never had like speed and a good shot and beating a man one on one. Time to rebuild with youth. I think we should relegate players like Kovy and Sammy to a 4th line till we can buy out their contracts next year. Most teams are built on youth. With Higgins Plekanec and Latendresse even Perezhogin,Komisarek, Halak and Price we have a nucleus to start from scratch.
  5. Frankly at this point the only way Souray becomes captain is if they trade Koivu. There are many players that will not accept Koivu not being captain. Remember it was Souray who attacked Armstrong after the hit on Koivu. I doubt Souray would accept being captain if Koivu remains with the team.
  6. I don't think making him captain changes much but I would say he has been the MVP this year and leader of the team. Can the caandians sign him? Is he worth 5 million at his age. When you have a marketable commodity that has had a career year can you get something worthwhile for him? Is it better to trade him and build for the future? Tough questions glad Im not Bob Gainey right about now. However, don't trade him for a 3rd round choice. For some reason there seems to be a lot of teams trading up prospects for a chance at the Cup. Are we out of the playoff picture??? Who needs a quarterback on the powerplay with a tremendous shot? HMMMMMM (see other thread for details)
  7. I think this room is teeming with habhaters- can we purge them out?
  8. Whatttttttttttttttttttttttttt- are you denying that Thornton did not change the fortunes of the Sharks last year. Marleau was with the Sharks how many years? Nabakov? Cheechoo was a 50 goal scorer how many years before Thornton??? Besides everything else Nabokov was not even the first stringer most of the year- I have heard enuff I think you folks just wanna argue for the sake of arguing au revoir back to the Crosby show on Tsn
  9. Wrong he cracked it twice, 2 times more than Saint Koivu. He played 5 years with Pittsburgh. You wear out a welcome after one year not 5 years. And if he was such a bust with the Rangers the first time why did they get him again? The Penguins let him loose because they couldn't afford or sign him like they did Jagr etc.
  10. I have answered the Forsberg issue in other posts and threads. As for Souray, I am projecting if he played with the Sharks a full year he would be closing in on 30 goals this year with Thornton and Marleau feeding him. How many goals did Cheechoo score before Thornton's arrival last year. Souray will get over 20 goals this year, Carle has 6 with Thornton. I think in terms of potential in players for every 5 players with potential maybe one pans out. Carle and Vlasik could be busts. That is the risk one takes when trading for potential. As for not making a difference umm where was San Jose last year before Thornton and where were they after Thornton? Where was Colorado before Roy and after Roy? Anyways I find this whole argument from supposed Habs fans really weird. I didn't think Carle and Vlasik were as outstanding as you folks think they are. I saw some good potential that's about it. As for the the derogatory remarks about Souray from again supposedly habs fans I find that really weird. Frankly I think Souray has been the MVP for the habs this season and the true leader.
  11. That is it potential- Souray will produce right away. Carle has 6 goals this year, he aint no Bobby Orr or Paul Coffey. Carle is playing with the likes of Thronton and Marleau, if he had great offensive skills he should have much better stats. Forsberg had 8 points because he played on the poweplay and had wingers like Gagne. However, he was supposed to lead the team to the promised land. He was outplayed by the likes of Briere and Maxi. In his prime Forsberg would have singlehandledly made the difference. Age and Injury diminish players. That's life
  12. Yeah the nightmare that played on the team that won the Only ranger Cup in 50 years. Kovalev in his early years was put on a defensive line with the rangers. You are thinking of his second stint with the Rangers after leaving Pittsburgh. That team had as much heart as the habs this year. His 5 years with the Penguins as an offensive player he filled the net.
  13. Vlasic and Carle are not superstars, they have potential like Plekanec and Komisarek. Thornton Cheechoo and Marleau are superstars and are in their prime. Now is the time for the Sharks not in 5 years. Is Forsberg signing with Nashville next year? Nashville thinks now is the time to win the Cup. Anybody remember the Flames trading a young Brett Hull? Was he injured last year in the playoffs against the Sabres? Don't get me wrong Forsberg with a good cast like Nashville could help them to a Cup win like Recchi did with Carolina last year. However, he will be only a supporting player.
  14. That's cause he has played a whole slew more games then Koivu and when he entered the league with the Rangers he was put on a defensive line. Let's just say Koivu will never reach Kovy's career total in goals or points and will never win a Cup . Case closed
  15. No sorry besides some people agreeing with me here, and I have zero interest in the Sharks or being King of the interweb. All I care about is the habs, maybe you should post in the Sharks site, the way you think maybe we should get somebody in the ECHL for Souray.
  16. I am seeing the same Kovalev that played for Pittsburgh on a line with Jagr and Straka, and on a powerplay with Lemieux. The same Kovalev that scored 40 or more goals with the Penguins. It seems you are contradicting yourself with Saint Koivu. You say Kovalev does nothing with the habs even though he has the same cast of players to play with that Koivu does. Then the ready made excuse that Koivu cant lead the team because of the players surrounding him? Doesn't Kovalev have the same playes surrounding him??? Kovalev has proven with a great cast of players surrounding him he can score over 40 goals like he did with the Penguins and can win a Cup like he did with the Rangers. Koivu has proven nothing. Other then winning the first round he pulls a houdini act in the second round like he does in the second half of the season year after year. Koivu is always injured. What's the excuse this year? As for Markov, once again I ask what will he do next year alone when the Habs are in 10th this year with Souray and Rivet accompanying him???
  17. Sorry your being an ass- that same Forsberg grit and determination that let the Sabres wipe out the Flyers last year- you are dreaming of the past- Forsberg whether thru injury or age is a shadow of his former self period. As is Bertuzzi- As for saying Souray brings nothing but his offensive game duh that's what I keep repeating- take away Gonchar from the Penguins and their powerplay is average to mediocre and they are as bad as last year in the standings- If you haven't noticed the New NHL is a powerplay influenced league. The point you should have made is that if Lindstrom or Niedermeyer played with the Habs would they be in the playoffs and higher up- I think so. Never said Souray compared to either one- However could Souray make a difference to a team like San Jose in their Cup run, I dont think there is a doubt
  18. I wont get into a discussion of all your points but I disagree Markov has more upside. I think we have seen the best of Markov- His offensive skills are in decline. He is a good sound defenceman but nothing exceptional. It would be stupid to keep Markov if we finish 10th this year. If we have Souray, markov and Rivet this year and finish 10th, what will we do with only Markov next year??? I don't agree with Saint Koivu. I look at his record and the facts. The facts are we have not gone past the first round with Koivu. The facts are he has slightly more points in his whole career then Sundin has goals. These are the facts. Kovalev is not an enigma, he plays as well as the players surrounding him. Put him with a Lemieux or Jagr or Messier and he fills the nets. He didn't fill the net when he played with Koivu.
  19. B)--> QUOTE(B @ Feb 16 2007, 03:46 PM) 185881[/snapback] It seems to me if Bob does make a trade, he gambles with the team's confidence. Souray said no one player is going to save this team. With this in mind, how would team psychology be affected by a big trade? I dunno guys, I think Bob's got to stay the course with the guys he's got. Just a thought. B'OH Get real- this team has lost its confidence- we are in 10th place and going nowhere time for a change
  20. Yeah Im sure San Jose has a great chance to win the CUp with Carle rather than Souray lol- Yeah Pitkanen has great stats this year lol- Yeah Salo is tearing up the leagues this year lol - yeah Boumeester is an untouchable lol- Whitney lol- Weber-lol-in fact I would have put people like Pronger anfd Jovanovski on the list- anyways you missed my point I was talking stats It is nice to know that the supposed Habs fans are downgrading the value of Souray- Im sure if other GMs think like you we may get Rory Fitzpatrick for Souray lol
  21. Your dreaming of the glory years of the Avalanche: Forsberg is a shadow of his former self- Frankly that Forsberg trade reminds me of the Bertuzzi for Luongo trade- I said it when it happened it was a horrible trade, Bertuzzi was a great weapon 3 years ago- Luongo had proven it the last 2 years- I think the ame analogy Forsberg versus Souray- Forsberg was great 3 years ago Souray has been a weapon for the last 2 years. I was saying Lindstrom and Niedermeyer have great +- because of the players surrounding them. If Souray played on the, Ducks or the Wings his +- would be just as high.
  22. No one is pretending Souray is a great defensive defenceman. However, look at Gonchar with Pittsburgh. He is also a defensive liability but I doubt the Penguins would be as effective this year without him on the powerplay. Offensive quarterbacks on the powerplay in the new NHL are very important. It seems to me that is what San Jose lacks.
  23. Fine we all know what any team would have to offer to get Lidstrom and Niedermeyer, Souray is very close, and more important he has much more goals. And Souray doesn't have HaseK or Pronger on his team. Well you ignored the fact Nashville got Forsberg for 2 months as well? They think he is the missing link? Even though Forsberg in the last 2 years has been a shadow of his former self. Meanwhile Souray has been at the top of his game.
  24. Why can't we afford to lose all 3 if we miss the playoffs. We will miss the playoffs with all 3 in the lineup. What will happen if we lose all 3? Will we miss the playoffs next year? Time to rebuild. Markov has been with the team over 5 years and the team has gone nowehere with him. Souray and Rivet same thing. I agree Souray should not be worth as much as I say he is. But if Forsberg merits that much considerig his record the last 2 years meanwhile Souray has been lighting up the league offensively the last 2 years, I think a team that feels they need that offensive defenceman to win it all will probably offer a lot. I think San Jose could be that team. As for Rivet same thing. He is past his prime. We won't get as much for him as Souray and Markov, but we should get something worthwhile. Kovalev has a large contract as well and is signed after this year. We won't get much. We may have to get another problem player off another team that is highly paid. Koivu is the great houdini. Disappears at important times and shows up at others. Like I said if Markov is competent and we finish in tenth place, what happens if we trade him?
