  1. I agree cfposi. It's unlikely he'll ever be captain, but as i said, i can see him wearing an 'A'. How does it work with Carbo this season? Players pick/vote or coach appoints?
  2. cfposi: All good picks, imo. C-Love: Yeah, Komisarek has some potential. I also think Bégin has a good chance of at least wearing an "A" on his uniform in the not-too distant future.
  3. Read the full article. If you didn't love this guy before, it's hard to not love him now. Un vrai de vrai : Steve Bégin!
  4. I love Saku, he's my favourite player on this team and i hope he sticks around for years, and i hate to think about a Koivu-less Canadiens team, but it's inevitable. One day, it'll happen, due to retirement, an injury, etc. (We can only hope later on he'll come back to the Canadiens organisation as a member of the coaching staff!) With that being said, who do you think will take his place when leaves? My vote goes to Higgins. He has "future captain" written all over him (as well as "50-goal scorer")
  5. Who's being serious? MAPLE LAFS = FAIL   MAPLE LAFS = FAIL   MAPLE LAFS = FAIL
  6. 336 3 18:44 GOAL MTL EV 79 MARKOV, A: Unassisted, Wrist, 180 ft, EN 180ft for Markov's EN goal... considering the length of ice between one goal to the other is 180ft, that's pretty impressive! 190ft is the maximum (if you fire it off from the boards behind your net -- not taking into consideration the vertical position of the player aka not drawing a straight line, in which case you can have a 200footer and more)
  7. Liking what i'm seeing so far... GO HABS GO Commentary after the game..
  8. HD is like waching an uncompressed movie in its native full screen resolution on a 21" monitor at 1280x1024. In comparison, watching SDTV (standard) is like watching that same movie compressed to 320x240 DivX on a 14" CRT. There's no comparison.
  9. 1.Huet | A | Great work by Huet tonight. Glad to see him playing like he did at the end of the 2005-06 season. This win + 1st star will surely be a good boost to his confidence. Excellent! 2.Niinimaa | D- | Terrible, awful, disgusting. What was that blatantly stupid holding in the third? What was with the giveaways? Wow, just awful. He was starting to look solid over the course of the season, until today, when he just came up totally flat. Maybe the whole "guarantee" thing affected him, but he better snap out of it and quick. 3.Higgins | A- | Is there a harder working habs on the Canadiens? Perhaps, and his name is... 4.Koivu | A- | Koivu has incredible vision and some great reflexes. Did you see his quick pass to Higgins for the second goal? Just one example of many. Higgins is an oustanding player, no doubt about it, but Koivu is one of the main reasons Higgins is producing so well. 5.Ryder | B+ | Solid play, great first goal, the chemistry on the first line is just great. What else is there to say? 6.Kovalev | D+ | Ahh, the bad stuff. Kovalev my good man, you need to watch the temper. Control, keeping a cool head, you need to work on that. I think frustration is accumulating so much in Alex that eventually he's going to snap, go insane and score 5 goals in one night. I can see it coming. Until that happens though, yikes. 7.Rivet | C | I don't want to fault him too much for the 4 minute penalty. In my view, the refs made a bad call giving him 4 minutes, but the rest of his play wasn't too hot tonight. C is for Craig, sorry old buddy. 8.Latendresse | C | One or two decent plays, but for the rest of his 12 minute shift, he was nearly invisible. It's still early, he needs time to adjust to the second line and all the rapid changes going on in his NHL world. 9.Markov | B+ | He woke up! Great play defensively, great goal at 19:59 in the third. I love it when he spins 180, he seems to do it quite often. It's becoming a signature move. 10.Souray | B | Another solid night for Sheldon. Naysayers have been bashing his defensive play, but he's been proving this season that he's a capable d-man in the defensive zone, not just a great blue line quarterback on the power play. PK Unit | A | Outstanding, mostly because of Huet Refs | F | What.. the.. heck.. :puke: i will refrain from commenting on the Rivet 4 minute call. :puke: OVERALL | C+ | The Habs played poorly, but Boston played worse, and the game was ours. A win's a win. Go habs go!
  10. 1.2 seconds... talk about.... WOW. Me and my old man jumped out of the coach, hi fived, screamed, went totally batshit insane for a good 5 minutes. I FEEL GOOD, NA NA NA NA NA NA NAAA But in all seriousness, a disaster of a game in terms of discipline and giveaways, poor puck handling and lack of coordination. 1st line was sharp though, as usual. Niiiiniiiiimaaaa what the heck? F- tonight. Anyway, a win's a win, even if it was damned ugly.
  11. :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: ça va brasser après le match, whether we win or lose.. damnit kovalev, why do you gotta do stuff like that take your anger out on the puck and the net.
  12. Hope the sens dismantle the maple laffs 10-0 tonight. I'll be watching this game during the intermissions of the Habs-Bruins game. GO HABS GO SENS
  13. Agree 100%, in principle, but in practice.. we shall see, who knows maybe the 4th line will become dynamite and will see its fair share of play now, and maybe Lats will break out, etc. If this "test" doesn't work after 3-4 games, return Samsonov to the 2nd line.
  14. Samsonov will be on fire tonight, he's pissed and rightfully so. Samsonov and Kovalev are perhaps not the best duo, but sending him to the fourth line is harsh.
  15. Hello!
  16. I wonder how Samsonov is going to take being demoted to the 4th line. He played well last two games and now rewarded with this? Sucks for him. I would have prefered Samsonov-Kovalev-Latendresse personally
  17. MONTREAL 0 - 3 BUFFALO :puke: I'm too disgusted to make a serious analysis of this period. :puke: All i can say is: 1.Samsonov | A | Wow incredible effort this period, he's been flying around. 2.Higgins | B+ | Another great period 3.Kovalev | B+ | Definite presence on the ice this period Rest of the team | C | Awful :puke: Huet did okay, you can't fault him too much for the goals, but damn. Habs were outplayed big time that period. They were lucky not to fall to 0-4. Yikes. I blame Niinimaa for jinxing us. Habs are going to need a miracle to tie this one up in the third...
  18. MONTREAL 0 - 1 BUFFALO 1.Huet | C- | Despite a great save in the dying minutes of the period, letting that flop of a goal go by was just awful. Huet should have stopped that. :puke: 2.Rivet | B- | One sloppy giveaway, but asside from that, pretty solid play from Craig in the 1st. 3.Markov | B- | He seems sharp/quick tonight, no mental mistakes and some quick reflexes. 4.Higgins | A | Giving Higgins 'A's is turning into a habsit. Just watch the guy; i don't think i need to explain myself here. 5.Bonk | B+ | What back pain? Sure as heck didn't show in the first. Bonk continues to impress. Still a lot more he could do, but he's certainly packing more of an offensive punch than last year. He's quicker, he's challenging the defense, making plays, etc. 6.Samsonov | B | Solid play from Sammy led to a few excellent plays in conjunction with Kovalev, and a few scoring chances as well. If they keep it up, i predict 1 or 2 goals by line #2 in the second period. 7.Niinimaa | C+ | Average play. If he's going to make bold predictions, he better step up his game to match them... I hope he does. PK Unit | A | 100% so far, but then again only one penalty to kill. PP Unit(s) | C+ | Only one power play, not much to judge, but it was rather weak, mostly due to the excellent work by the Buffalo defenders during that penalty. Summary: Habs dominated that period in my view. The first 10 minutes were spent almost exclusively in the Buffalo zone. Great effort right off the bat by Montreal. They had great chances but weren't able to score on any, while Buffalo had weak shots but got in a lucky goal. How incredibly frustrating.
  19. Law of averages. Buffalo is bound to lose, and if a team is going to pull off a win against them, it's Montreal. GO HABS GO!
  20. Whenever Spider-Man NL wants to let me do one. He's been around longer and I feel he has priority over me. Doesn't feel right to come in and butt in and do game threads when he's been doing it for a long time.
  21. Just thought i'd confirm it (i did the numbers) Montreal moves up to #2 in power play.
  22. Samsonov-Plekanec-Kovalev line: Plekovalevonov line
