Ron just said it: six of the top nine scorers in the NHL that are Canadians were NOT on this team. Ummm...Wayne...want to explain to me how the F@!K that happens???!!!
-
I said it all along....this team was poorly selected. Foote, Blake, and Pronger looked like pile-ons out there. Shane Doan, Goontuzzi, and Draper being there over Staal, Crosby, and Spezza was a joke...I'd gladly take any of those guys and move them to the wing. Sickening.

Except for Brodeur and Luongo, Team Canada played like a bunch of bums. In fact, they ought to put little pictures of every player but Brodeur and Luongo on the front page of every newspaper in Canada tomorrow under a big bold headline that simply reads: BUMS

I find myself feeling some symptoms of withdrawl during the Olympic break. I need my fix of hearing that horn...hearing the roar...and hell, I even miss that sound bite of 'Vertigo' :hlogo:
-
And on a related note, Koivu looks like a #1 center now that he's out of a Habs jersey and playing for Finland. I hope he plays with similar intensity when he gets back to Montreal.
-
Kovalev looks great...amazing what he can do playing with a real #1 center.
-
Bobsled? No, a bobsled is something that moves...and quickly at that. Cobweb would be more Gainey's speed.
-
Whether it really happened or is a work doesn't matter to me at all. Bottom line is that I'm happy we won't see Jose giving away games anymore this season, and the Habs get some cap relief to play with for the home stretch.
-
Good point, Strumm....comparing Koivu to Yzerman is preposterous....isn't even on the same level.
-
Watching Koivu half-ass it for most of that game tonight, and seeing him take yet another stupid penalty in the offensive zone, I have to wonder why he got that contract.

All in all, the game was just far too low-energy for a home game. Too many mediocre efforts....Huet stole them a point tonight. -

Damn...we got a point, but it should never have gotten to a shootout. Habs couldn't build much flow in this game because of stupid penalties. -

Wow...what a save by Huet on Hossa! -

I can't believe that Souray took such a selfish penalty late in the game...and that Bob didn't bench him as a result! -

Souray is useless from the point on PPs more often than not. I think we oughta try Kovalev on the point when it's 5-on-3, the way the Rangers do with Jagr. Seems to work quite well for them. -
I too think the Habs overpaid...any chance of getting a real #1 like Jokinen are out the window now it would seem.
-
Sorry, Marty....but we're at a point in the season where we can't afford to experiment with a shaky goaltender to try and rebuild his confidence. If he wants to voluntarily accept an assignment to Hamilton to try and find his game, that's fine...but the Habs are in a dogfight to make the playoffs.

That bum Koivu lost it clean....if you're sick, don't play! -

Great to see Kovalev finally shooting the puck more. -

Bonk has looked great out there tonight! On the flip-side of that equasion, Koivu looks pretty much useless. -
Theodore Tests Positive, Blames Hair-loss Drug
sbhatt replied to Haboholic's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
As long as Theo doesn't test positive for nandrolone when the NHL tests him (and I get the feeling they will...soon!), then he has done nothing wrong. -
If there are wiretaps that prove Gretz knew about it, then that might be enough to get him barred from coaching. Can't very well have someone who likes to put action on games be the guy deciding who gets the start in goal and who plays/who sits. Sure, maybe he hasn't bet on hockey...YET...but can they take the chance that he won't?
-
I don't think that the Habs can afford to pay Koivu any more than 3-3.5mil at the top end of whatever contract they offer him. There are too many other voids to be filled to invest too much into a guy who is realistically a #2 center. If they can get Koivu at 3, then have 4 or 5 left to offer for a real #1....the team would only need one solid stay-at-home no frills defenceman to be a serious threat.
