  1. No. Galley was on the Neely teams that always beat the Habs. Healey was on the 93 Isles. Total stiff.
  2. Utterly incompetent. What is the benefit of a quick whistle on that play? Same quick whistle cost them a point last season.
  3. He is from Newfoundland, so it isn't out of the realm of possibility that he was as a kid. It would be hard to maintain that loyalty doing Maple Leaf games for 25 years.
  4. I would have to see that quote to believe it. Cole did Leaf games for 25 years, he was the Montreal Danny Gallivan.
  5. It wouldn't be the first time that Cherry's rant became an accepted opinion.
  6. Nobody said it was Hab bashing. It is a bias that manifests itself in nit picking and hypocrisy. Subban gets maligned, Marchand does not. It is absurd that Cherry can sit on his pulpit and kickstart the whole national Subban hate and then praise Marchand, a player who shows ZERO respect for veterans. It goes on in here, it goes on everywhere. When somebody dislikes Martin they look for reasons to show you why he is a failure, not reality or anything that supports the opposite view point. Halak/Price was filled with this bias styled analysis. If the CBC and TSN/Sportsnet were centered in Montreal we would receive an entirely different perspective on these matters. When you have a telecast that has four Boston alumni (Stock, Cherry, Galley, Milbury) an accused Leaf homer (Bob Cole), a Sens announcer (Dean Brown) and an ex Leaf (Healey) and announcer that works for Leafs TV and was born in Toronto (Greg Millen) the results shouldn't come as a surprise.
  7. The Bruins thing is stupid. I understand Cherry, the guy was different and has become an institution. Milbury and Stock? Neither of them add anything but buffoonery to the telecast. If they actually provided insight I could tolerate, but they are just noise.
  8. That is bloggers and fans on messageboards, I didn't see ANYBODY outside of Montreal in the MSM defend PK Subban against the media attacks. I have yet to see anybody call out Marchand for his lack of respect. I haven't seen anybody telling us how galling Ference tossing the middle finger is, yet I saw plenty of reports telling me how disrespectful shooting an arrow at the sky was after Subban scored an OT winner. Anybody who lives within a Leaf fan region understands the hatred they hold towards Hab fans. Hab fans return the favour. Now take your regular Habs suck discussion with your Leaf fan friends and begin to place those individuals into the national media. The CBC, TSN, Sportsnet etc are all Toronto centric (even though Sportsnet tries to regionalize). The natural tendency becomes a bias based on their personal viewpoint. They don't care if it is unprofessional, they use it to drive their narrative. So in 1993 when the Habs won the Cup it became marginalized as a crap team being dragged to a title on the back of a superhero goaltender. Nevermind that the 93 Leafs team was deified as a scrappy underachieving team that almost realized a dream based on will and determination. The Habs had 102 points in 93, the Leafs had 99. That is based on bias and the creation of narratives based upon that bias. Add in that the Leafs had been terrible for 20 years and their previous ineptitude was placed upon the 99 point 1993 squad even though that was not reality. It is undeniable when you watch the CBC with Cherry, Milbury, Stock, Cole all of whom at one time or another have admitted their bias to long time rivals with the Habs. It is just the reality of our media experience as Hab fans. Just like you have to come to accept that the Quebec media favours francophone players regardless of ability.
  9. Cherry trumpeted the virtues of Brad Marchand on Saturday after harping PK about respect from rookies for 6 months. The hypocrisy of it was absurd. PK punches Lupul a fraction of a second too early and it is a cheap shot, Marchand drops his gloves and hits Plekanec with an uppercut while being held be a referee and it is gritty? Stupidity. It would be nice to get analysts with zero rooting interest.
  10. The only difference between Savard and Pacioretty is that Pacioretty is not suffering from post concussion syndrome. His healing is from a broken neck. Once the bone heals, there isn't really fear of a second broken neck based on the first one. Savard/Crosby should not be rushed back because of concussions.
  11. I see no sense in complaining about injuries after watching the Penguins continue to excel without Crosby/Malkin. If any team has the right to complain, it is the Penguins, yet they are 1 win away from the second round. I tend to look forward to how strong this team will be in 2012 with the return of Markov, Gorges and the continued development of Desharnais, Pacioretty, Eller and Weber. Most people have written off Weber, but most people forget what a disaster Streit was for a season and a half and he was 29 when he debuted.
  12. Anybody who thinks the Bruins are decisively better are out of their mind, same with Price/Thomas. Last game Thomas found himself in the corner three separate times with a wide open net and the Habs failed to beat the Bruins covering his ass. Thomas made the highlight reel save, to me that sums up his career with the Bruins. The same thing happened in Game 3. The guy single handedly allows the Habs back in the game with a pair of horrific goals and makes a great save on Kostitsyn and the spin becomes makes the "big saves in the big moments". THis series is dead even. Scoring chances are 91-89 for the Bruins through 5 games (83-79 at even strength) http://enattendantlesnordiques.blogspot.com/ The shots are 177-165 for the Bruins and the score is 12-12. I believe the Bruins have had the better chances, but not significantly better. Bounces/health will likely determine the winner in a matchup this even.
  13. DD was hurt, that hurt in the second OT. Looking at the highlight, it was Wiz who left Hammer and Price out to dry. Hamrlik was trying to cover two forwards, covering Wiz's ass.
  14. Yep. He is due. His last win was the Kostopolous OT winner.
  15. I am not talking about free agents until the Habs are eliminated. This team was right there tonight and the Bruins are fortunate to be up. This isn't team flaws, it is a pick em series and the Bruins have 2OT wins so far. Why get negative? If everybody wants to feel like an ass, go back and read the archives for Washington Game 4 and Pittsburgh Game 5. You will see the same negativity, Jesus, go back 2 periods and you will get the idea. And the Habs out chanced the Bruins significantly in Game 4, yet lost.
  16. With Markov down and Wiz hurt Hammer has to play way more than he should at his age. If he is a 4-6 he is worth bringing back. A 3 is too much for him.
  17. Thomas had 3 separate plays where he was in no man's land and his D picked up the coverage. Price made the save and Hammer didn't control his man. The first save is on Price, the D needs to clear the rebound. Habs came back from 3-1 and 3-2 last season. Bruins choked a 3-0 lead, Canucks are playing a game 6 we never expected, the Bolts just destroyed the Pens to force game 6. The new NHL is so tight that things that used to be rare are becoming common place now.
  18. Bruins choked a 3-0 lead, the Habs were a fortunate bounce from being up 3-2. I am not giving up on a team that was 2 OT goals away from a 4-1 win.
  19. It was a great save, that was your typical Thomas game. Three times out of he net, Ryder glove save, Chara skate and Chara leg.
  20. That guy has done nothing all series.
