Sundstrom is not deadwood. He will be on this team until: a) He is replaced via trade by someone better B) He is replaced bia prospect by someone better c) He leaves via free agency Give him a year (like Julien) to work his magic. He can partner with Bulis to become a great defensive tandem. And when/if we find a defensive centremen who is physical, we will have a great 3rd line. McKay is Stuck for at least another year. Maybe give him another half a season to improve. He was terrible last year, maybe this comoing year he'll shape up. Czerkawski, well, I'm looking for news on him. Maybe he'll be like McKay and shape up too. Juneau and Dackell will be hard to get rid of. Juneau is old, no longer dependable, and has a largish contract. Dackell is easier to get rid of, but we're looking for a good bidder. I've seen reports that Minnesota like his style, but nothing solid. Perreault or Ribeiro will be gone by the end of next season. It's either youth revolution, or trade Ribs in a package for something better (and maybe younger) Kilger is still cheaper than most, and if we put him with other physical players (i.e, McKay, Dwyer, Lindsay ) then he'll do well. Just look at the ugly duckling. Put a goose with ducks, and he'll act like a duck. But not a Audette will be gone by the end of next season too. I wonder if NY would like him. Audette-Kovalev-Bure Barnaby-Holik-Lindros Nedved-Messier-Donato? Hmm. Or maybe Czerkawski. Oh well. I'll jump on Puck's bandwagon: "I can't wait til' 2004!!!" [Edited on 2003/6/19 by TheAussiePosse]

QUICK!!! GET BURE!!! IF WE CAN'T HAVE THE 50 GOAL ONE, GET THE 50 GAME ONE!!! HE'S A STEAL!!! ROBITAILLE-TURGEON-BURE!!! OH, HAPPY DAYS!!! And you all think I'm kidding... :nono:

What do you think of trying to trade with SJ? 6th overall, and 21st overall (from Toronto)? I'd say our first rounder, Hossa, and their 3rd rounder from next year could do it. Affable? Also, would we want to? Or is it pointless to move up 4 places, and not into the top 3? I think this would make sense, as we get a second 1st rounder. And it's not like Hossa is the next Wayne Gretzky. And they're west coast, so any player trades wouldn't come back to hurt us (necessarily) :ghg:
-
The question is not "Will we get him"? It is "Do we want him" That is, if we move enough deadweights, and still have room for prospects. So, just say it's a perfect world, and we can choose to have Selanne or not... Edit : Sorry , I hate misleading titles ... So I added a question-mark to it. [Edited on 2003/6/16 by puck7x]

I still think that Hossa is more offensive than defensive. But hey, I haven't seen him that much (I have seen him, don't get me wrong), but I"ll take your word for it. www.forecaster.ca/demo/hockey/player.cgi?2187 They say he's offensive, not defensive... I meant Zednik prefers RW, not LW. :StupidStupidStupid: And the 5th line was there to show the extra bodies. We won't be rid of them by next year, so that was the extra line. Hey, what a great idea though. 5 lines!!! Maybe even a bigger ice surface, no red line or blue line, and a 6th player called the rover. OOOH, and bigger nets, and two goalies (Theo & Garon= unbeatable) and... http://www.worldhockeyassociation.net/ Check that out.. :/) Can't wait

what would second tier represent? Hossa? I'd do Hossa and next year's 3rd rounder (from SJ) for 1st. But they might not.

I accept the invitation, and ask you: (a) Do you care if your comments offend someone who is not as well off as you in the terms of hockey ability or hockey knowledge, and (B) What is your goal for hockey in the future? Revert back to 6 teams? Then you can really be a proud "purist". No? How about hockey expansion? Do you feel that we should not expand more than the 30 teams we have now, that we should not go over to Europe? I hope this wouldn't be a case of rascism, a case where only Canadians, or even Americans as well, only should be allowed to play in the NHL. But I"m sure that you're an open person who supports international hockey. I mean, geez, where would we be right now without Sweden? Lidstrom, Forsberg, Naslund, Sundin, etc.? So how "pure" are you? Where does "purity" stop, and "mockery" start. What is your opinion of Quebec and Winnipeg moving to the USA? Do they become new teams? DO they move from "pure" to "mock"? What is the defining line? Will teams like Edmonton ever become "pure"? Will the Rangers eve become "mock"? IMO, the Rangers are a mockery to the NHL right now, history or not The reason you fail to understand it is because you obviously haven't been worldwide to see it. People don't really see "snot nosed california yuppie children playing hockey". They instead see kids like themselves who are playing hockey. And they want to be just like those kids. I applaud anyone who joined thinking they could be the next Mighty Duck. By now you will have realised that it won't happen, (same with everyone's dreams of making the NHL), but you still respect what the movie did for you. I'm glad it didn't. But if it had, then I would support you, not incriminate you I agree, it is called being cultured. And you have to look outside your own borders to really make an "effort" that "attempts to understand the rest of the world". I understand Americans have a problem with that. I really hope Canadians don't. There are some outstanding individuals from any country that set te example, and it always takes awhile until the public follows them. Let's hope it doesn't too long to realise the future of hockey. Oh, don't worry, I won't bother chiding you. But let me tell you, I eat Kangaroo meat (it's 90% fat-free, and high in protein!!!), and I am cruel to bugs. However, I will continue on my quest to globalize hockey. Whether you choose to stand with me or against me, that's your choice. But when I stand valiantly on top of the mountain (or am dead and looking on as a ghost or wahtever), I hope that you respect everything the non-north-Americans have done for the sport. Disney included

Of course you can't have ribs and perry on the same line. it worked with gilmour moving to LW, but Ribs... nah, no way it'd work. And Perreault won't go to Nashville or Columbus, I'm almost positive Perezhogin will not make the team next year. After the CBA is worked out, then expect something big, with guys like Juneau, Perreault, Audette, et al. all leaving. It'll be a youth revolution if there is a hockey season that year. Higgins will not play this year either, but will last in Hamilton, and learn what it takes to play 82 games season, or as close to it as yo'u'll get. Gratton, Ryder, Balej and Hainsey will all want spots, but with the lack of availability, will probably have to wait another year too. Hossa is like Audette in that he won't play well on any lines but the top 2. I think we should pair him with Ribeiro like last year, and see what happens. The were streaky, but it worked. Maybe give Audette on that line (a bit like what Kas said). Zednik-Koivu-Ward = Only problem is Zednik prefers LW Hossa-Ribeiro-Audette = Streaky? We'll find out Bulis-Perreault-Sunstrom = Perry played that at the end last season Dackell-Juneau-McKay = Wait till :contract: runs out Linsday-Kilger-Blouin = Rock 'em Sock 'em (if Lindsay's still here) Defence I ain't gonna even touch. We need to get this sorted out first. :ghg:

Rosie (the Riveter) will not be with us after his contract runs out the way he was playing last year. If he is a changed man (after Canada), then he might still be here, but it is unlikely. Sue-Ray will be a hard decision. If he continues to be injured, there will be only one thing to do with him. However, if he can come back and show everyone this season, I'll be very happy. Dyke-house better not be back. Reverse can go to Hamilton, I won't mind (too much), but Dyke-house is gone. GONE GONE GONE! BEGONE, FOUL BEING!! OUT, OUT, DAMN SPOT!!! Can-tell, well, he can play as a leader on the team. Maybe take the A (train:lol:) when Brisebois goes. Breeze-By, well, we'll let that sort itself out. Billion$ will also be a hard decision. I like his attitude, and then only thing hurting him is his size. I bet if he had Dykhuis or Traverse's size, he'd be awesome. Beaut-chemical well, that'll sort itself out too. He's also a solid 6th-7th D-man Archery is a wild-card. I hope that there might be space, but who knows. I can see him being traded to one of the expansion teams (NAS, ATL, CMB, MIN), but that might not be a good idea. BTW, what happened to Chris Dyment? Is he going OK? Muck-off is set, Come-ye-SARS-ek is set, Hey-Zee is questionable. So c'mon draft, give me someone to root for. BTW, depending on the player, I want to have first dibs on him. Markov79 has Markov, KoZed has Koivu and Zednik (greedy), HossaRules has Hossa... But I want this 1st rounder Maybe :king:

If that's our first line, then is it very sad. Two major veteran floaters (who both played in your farm team the previous season) playing on your first line is just terrible. It is sad, but maybe they'll improve. Audette got the idea, and while they're not the best, they're still here for another year. Like we all would. But right now we have a lot of bodies. Yes... One of the most soft players on our team, and, HEY, WAIT, the BEST faceoff man in the NHL... on wing. I don't either, but he's the least of our worries Most likely, we will Better yet, put him on a line with Dwyer and Kilger, and we could have a good line. Just not any more han 10 minutes per game. Then they'll think they're Koivu #2, and that's not what we want CHEESE!!! You can send it here: 32 Long Gulley Road Wobegong NSW Australia 5023 :/)

Looking through old scouting books, and I found the first player ever from South Korea. He won a Cup with Pittsburgh. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdispla...y.php3?pid=4108 I wonder if he's related to Richard Park on Minnesota. Oh well. The Australians are on their way. Just need to wait for Legace to be traded, Cujo to retire, Stefan Liv to underperform, Drew Macintyre to die in a tragic car accident, and Logan Koopmans to quit ice hockey and go into professional bowling. The it'll be Jason Elliott's turn Jason Elliott: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdispla....php3?pid=17906 Did well with Saku's home team this year. :/) TPS Turku Onya Jason!

Man, I just posted that. I deserved it. Remember the countdown on ESPN for 200,000? And some troll got it? It's a sad day for sports when that happens...

You say the first deal makes no sense, then in the very next line you want to trade the mistake-prone with an awful rep and overpaid Breezy for Modin, a high pick, or Svitov/Alexeev? As you would say, maybe they'll throw in Lecavalier Brisebois had a bad year this year, but GMs know that he could and would be better on another team. He is Montreal's Bitch right now. The crowd boos him, we blame him for a lot of mistakes. He takes his fair share of the blame. TB will need help on Defence, and if we pay half of Breezy's contract, just to get rid of him. He is a good defence, and IMO next year will be better, especially on another team I didn't say he was worth a 2nd rounder. I think that trading Brisebois for Tver would be better because (a)Tver is Russian (Markov feels lonely) and (B) his salary is less than Breezy's anyway I think you must be replying to someone else now... I agree with that statement, though I don't like to think of either Bouillion or Beauchemin as screwed Mmm Hmm! Maybe they'll want to trade Rita for Hossa? I'd do it Answered Above I think if Audette picks up at the start this coming season (fills in for Mr.October - Savage), he will become tradeable. Especially if Brunette or Ronning take a big fall on MIN, and they need someone like the afore mentioned to pick up the slack. Sure, we might have to throw in a 7th rounder, but it'd be worth it, right? BTW, anyt news on Czerk's decision about next season?
-
But even just to fill spaces in Hamilton, like Habs77 said. If he signed a contract with them, then it's too late for us? Hope not... But then again, maybe next year we'll use Hamilton as a minor league team for players who can't make the Habs, and not just a nursery for prospects. BTW, any word on Czerkawski? WHat's he doing next season? How about Czerkawski for Theo Fleury, with Fleury's contract paid 4/5 of total?
-
Are we going to follow NJ and NYI by getting a strong core on defense (Stevens, Rafalski, Neidermayer)(Niinimaa, Hamrlik, Aucoin, Jonsson), but drafting instead? Defense in 5 years time Komisarek-Markov Hainsey-Phaneuf Archer-Bouillion ?
-
How bout Dave Lowry? Or Ranheim? Or Joe Sacco? Wait, get this... Rucinsky!!! Wait, wait, even better... Mike Eastwood!!! Or Mario Lemieux!!! :nono: Wait, we do want him
-
When are the rosters announced? And will Roy play in net for the Habs? that would be so awesome. Or maybe Hackett? Moog? Jason Lamb? OK, enough
-
I think you all know what I will say. And therefore I will not say it. I will think it. I will belive it. And I will buy my plane tickets to Montreal tomorrow. Watch out, AS...
-
You do realise that I was kidding, right? I'd rather have Boughner, Odjick, Simon & Muller  :nono: "No, no, no, no, no"
-
I think Rucchin or Thomas would be ANA's backup rep's. Rucchin could have won the Selke this year (seeing as the Ducks won't come this close again in a while). Thomas was strong most of the finals. He's not Gretzky or a Madden, but he did his part in each round. However, as said before, no-one was close to Jiggy :que:
-
but wouldn't we want something in return? Even as UFA, Gainey'll be like every other GM, and give him to someone for something small. BTW, why don't we sign Gilmour, Petrov and Hackett back again this season :?-
-
We will not draft a centre in the first 2 rounds, unless there's a big gap between the talent of the C and the next best player (which won't be much) Koivu Ribeiro Higgins Would be fine for quite a few years. Perreault is gone within 2 years maximum. And this summer minimum. Kilger can be our 4th line as long as we don't need him for anything more than what the McCarty-Holmstrom-Maltby line does for Detroit. And no, I don't want McCarty

NHL Awards 2003 HW Pool (Habinator Wins!)
TheAussiePosse replied to puck7x's topic in Fantasy Sports
I came third... Close though... Masterton: Wait, didn't Yzerman win? Habs77 said Berard won... I think he coulda won last year, but HAHA, KOIVU DID INSTEAD!!! Though it's a shame he had to go through all that... Pearson: Consolation prize. But then again, Naslund and Forsberg are close enough not to let it matter. Calder: I PICKED IT!!! Screw Zetterberg, Jackman is a good defensemen. A damn good one. And some of us thought we could trade for him in the offseason last season. Byng: No way in hell. Complete disagreement to previous statement. While I'm not a fan of Almo, and he didn't deserve to win, this is still a prize to those who are more like Gretzky than Howe. You can be a gentleman and still be a good player. IMO, this is a positive award. I'd rather have Naslund than Bertuzzi because Berty is a dirty SOB. And he chews tobacco. What an example to set...:nono: Selke: I picked it. But Lehtinen deserved it because: a) He's Finnish, (B) He's a good defensive forward, and © Madden needs other linemates to accomplish what Lehtinen does. On a line with Bill "No-Backcheck-just-Crosscheck" Guerin, and Mike "Only-Nice-American" Modano, he does a lot to save the team. Norris: Yeah, I agree with Habs77 on this one. Big AL really did deserve it. No Pronger, while Lidstrom had one of the best teams in the league. STL had a shallow defence, little or no support from their 10 different goalies. I'm also not a fan of Eddie "the-drunk-Goblin" Belfour or Marty Turco, so Marty "My-Wife-Cheated-First" Brodeur wins the Vezina. Oh well, till next year... :ghg: -
A story in Links: 'Forsberg and Naslund boyhood teammates. What would it take for either of them to change teams?' "His dad had a satellite dish and once in a while I'd go over to his house to watch NHL hockey. More than anything, we hoped we'd get drafted by the same team and keep playing together." - Vancouver's Markus Naslund on growing up with friend Peter Forsberg in Sweden. http://www.faceoff.com/home/news/story.htm...0611/56580.html 'Possibility of Forsberg being traded' http://www.hockeytraderumors.com/article40.html 'Forsberg a Canuck?' http://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/story/10366097203493.shtml I had more links, but I couldn't find them :wall:
