  1. I'm a big fan of Paetsch (WAS). Any chance of grabbing him? He isn't overly physical, but a future Neidermayer if we can grab him and train him. Here's a link: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect.php?pid=1928 [Edited on 2003/6/2 by TheAussiePosse]
  2. Buy one of those rollerball mouses. The ones that stay still, but have a ball under the thumb to move the pointer. You still have the other 2/3 buttons, but it just saves your wrist. Oh, and what do you do with your left hand? jk
  3. What is next year's draft worth? I'm beginning to wonder if it's a Kovalchuk or DiPietro type draft. I wonder if it would be too daring to go out on a limb and pick a team that will come last (or 2nd last or 3rd last), and try to aquire their 1st rounder. I think it would be worth going for. It just means that we have to judge another team's standing at the end of next year (and hope for a good draft lottery) :ghg:
  4. Dammit, I wanted Brathwaite. *&^%&*! Oh well, time to go with my No.2 choice... IRBE!!!
  5. Mario will come. I believe! Super Mario is gonna bounce you Bowzers and your turtle minions with an incredible season. Tanguay-Forsberg-Hejduk got nothing on Hossa-Lemieux-Zednik As long as Perreault leaves (and we get something in return), I'll be happy to get Lemieux. 5th in scoring with a team that is below Hamilton's level. I'm sorry, but the best player (IMO) to ever play ice hockey definitely deserves a place on the team.
  6. Man, you ask a simple question and now you get a bad wrap. Sheesh. Anyways, it was a good game, I listened to as much of is as I could before leaving for work. Conklin ain't that bad. I just believe that we could have saved ourselves all that worry with garon in nets. oh well. Go Dogs And I called Hainsey and Hossa's points (assists) on the final goal.
  7. Down in a 2-0 hole, I'm quite proud of my pick of Devils in 5. However, I really want the Ducks to win, because of a few reasons: 1.) Kariya, Oates and Thomas need a Cup 2.) Devils need to win in 2005 to continue the trend ('95, '00, etc), and not a moment before 3.) People might hate the Ducks for the "Might Ducks" movies, but you don't realise how much they did for the sport of Ice Hockey. There were 3x as much signees all over the world as the previous year before the first movie, and after a small decline, 3x that after D2 (a few years later). New blood is important to hockey, and while "MD" is a complete lie, it gives the sport the necessary players. I know in North America it isn't that hard, but minor hockey countries in Europe and Asia, it was a godsend. So don't hate the Ducks. Cheer for them to win the whole thing, or just 1 game. And :ghg: [Edited on 2003/5/30 by TheAussiePosse]
  8. Gagne: yeah, I'd take him in a package. Desjardans: Um, no way in hell. He's over-rated. Shadow of his Ex-habs self Handzus: Maybe, for Zednik (remember the 'Slovak Pak' in STL?). But we are already full in centre, and Handzus isn't incredible. Brashaer: "Best Enforcer in the league"? Cerebus, surely you jest. Brashaer is only good at one thing: EA Sport's NHL 200X. He, like Desjardins, is a shadow of his former self, no longer enforcing like Exelby in ATL or Worrell in FLA. He can score (enough for 3rd line duties) and play-fight with young up-and-coming enforcers who are looking to make a name for themselves. But he is definitely not even worth a 6th rounder like Gilmour. No, Puck's idea of Gagne, Pitkaanen, 1st and 2nd is a good trade. Personally I'd take Gagne, Seidenberg, and a 1st rounder. I wouldn't mind Woywitka either, but I think Seidenberg has a better upside. Maybe a mix between Markov and Archer, but more offensive than physical. But hey, it ain't gonna happen. I won't be happy with Garon as No.1 unless we have another proven goalie as well Hey! An idea!! Let's sign Roy!!!
  9. Next year will be it for him. It'll be make or break. He has done poorly over the last year with his Russian club, Metallurgist. Michaud is definitely one of our goalies next season, and we'll have to wait for later on in the summer for Fichaud to announce his usual retirement, or if we aquire another goalie. Does anyone know Brathwaite's salary? I'd like to have him as a a goalie in Hamilton so Michaud doesn't get shell-shocked. Tarasov is very inconsistent (his play dictates that). "He's hot when he's on, and cold when he's not". As a backup goalie it wouldn't be a bad idea, but two rookies in Hamilton wouldn't be a great idea for a CALDER-CUP-WINNING TEAM. He is Brodeur-like in puck-handling, Hasek-like in reflexes, and Daigle-like in overratedness. But seriously, he might one day be a good goalie, but his next year will be his final chance. Joni Puurula is looking mighty fine, and when his military service is over, he'll be cracking at a chance for an NHL job. And he came a close second to Kari Lehtonen in the playoffs, so obviously he's got potential. So let's see what happens. Tarasov has potential, and I'd rather see him in net than Puuruula, but things can change. :aus: Dammit Puck, make an Australian Smiley!
  10. with any other team, who would you trade. There is no requirement for return (salary, prospect, pick, etc.). Here's my go: ANA-Perreault (if Oates retires) ATL-Quintal or Souray (high price in return) BOS-? BUF-Hossa (high return though) CAL-Dackell CAR-Czerkawski CHI-? COL-Garon CMB-Audette or Juneau (Prolly Audette) DAL-? DET- Brisebois (doubtful) EDM-Dackell or Hainsey (high return) FLA-Quintal or Dykhuis LA-? Maybe Breezy with short contract MIN-Dackell or Juneau NSH-Gratton or Ryder for high return NJ-McKay NYI-Kilger NYR-McKay (for Holik's benefit) OTT-? (take Juneau back please?) PHI-Kilger PHO-Souray (high return) PIT-Dackell or Hossa (combo for top 3 pick) STL-Dykhuis (please) or Audette SJ-Hainsey (hi return) or Garon for Kipper TB-Brisebois (Kubina?) TOR-BRISEBOIS!!!!! VAN-Perreault or Juneau WAS-Perreault (1st line C) OK, your turn. Disagree and make your own
  11. CHL BABY!!! 50 POSTS!!! I now play for the Amarillo Gorillas!! [Edited on 2005-1-3 by puck7x]
  12. Will any draftees play with the team that drafts them next Season?
  13. WHAT? I'm sorry, no way in hell would I accept either of them on my team. They are the worst fantasy hockey killers after McLaren. And they're soft and over rated. BTW, on the subject of 1st round busts, what's happened to Daigle Also, Brisebois will go, but I want a bit of house cleaning done before October. Defense needs to be sorted out. So does forwards. But if we get an actual NHL ready player, who is not a goalie, then we have more house cleaning to do. I say build from the net out (like Buffalo back in the day), which means sorting out from the net too.
  14. Rumors of Burke to Colorado are starting to swarm. How much will Colorado give up for a goalie who will retire in 3 years or less? And Burke once played in Philadelphia, so there are rumors about him going to Philly too. I doubt Irbe will be signed. Hackett will retire or remain in Boston. Potvin will go somewhere, though he will be one of the later goalies to sign. Khabibulin is in TB for the rest of his career. Same with Kolzig. Biron won't go anywhere unless STL gives up Jackmann, or someone gives up a great defensive prospect. Osgood will spend another year with STL (IMO). What about Brathwaite? What about the goalie situation with Carolina? Or Pittsburgh? Or Philadelphia? Or Vancouver? etc.
  15. Do you think Savard has any chance of getting another 1st rounder? I want to get Nilsson. He's dropped pretty far, but he'd be worth it. Only problem is, a Swede and Saku on the same team? Could it work out?
  16. Well, he at least played a hard game. Now I want to see Hossa, Hainsey and Lindsay get points in the next contest. Predictions? 3-1 Dogs Lindsay with a goal, Hainsey +2, and Hossa with a goal and assist. Ryder with an assist? [Edited on 2003/5/29 by TheAussiePosse]
  17. Didn't see that coming. I had bets on him going to Phoenix, and Burke going to Colorado, and Osgood going to Philly in a big circle. Oh well, it just means, with LA's door closed, that Philadelphia's opens. Maybe we'll find a home for Garon. However, I'm hoping that we can get an experienced backup goalie for Jose, if we lose Garon. :ghg:
  18. I'S TAKES THAT AS AN INSULT I TELLS YA IF I CATCH YA SPEAKIN LIKE THAT ABOUT ME ONE MORE TIME I'LL SICK MY GOOD FRIEND ON YOU PIERRE BOIVIN AND HIS PET AARDVARK SALLY Y'HEAR? It's OK, I understand why, I just wished that Garon could win something for once in his life. I don't see him winning anything with the Habs, and it just depends on which other team gets him [Edited on 2003/5/28 by TheAussiePosse]
  19. Just looking back over ancient scouting records (well, not that ancient). McKay did really well in NJ on a line with Bobby Holik and Mike Peluso. Now 'Lucy' is retired, but Holik is in New York. 2 trade ideas: 1: Back to NJ (I've been saying that for a while, but I think they don't want his contract or his age) 2: To NY. Put Sandy McCarthy on LW, you have a humdinger of a line. Even a 6th rounder like Gilmour would suffice. McCarthy-Holik-McKay If McKay didn't pick it up, I wouldn't be shocked or upset, but i'd be the same if he did. We're probably stuck with him for another year at least, and you never know, he might actually play like a real forward this season. I'll end with a quote about him from the '95-'96 season (CBA if you remember): "McKay is an absolutely ferocious fighter... Not one player has a backhand shot like McKay... More than once last season McKay beat the defender 1-on-1 by setting his skates wide, dangling the puck, then drawing it through the defender's legs and blowing past him for the shot - and often a goal" Remeniscient of Zednik? Wide legs, good move, scoring chance. well, i thought so [Edited on 2003/5/28 by TheAussiePosse] [Edited on 28-5-03 by Habs77]
  20. Maybe, just maybe, we might get Nilsson with a later 1st round pick. If we trade Garon to COL or PHO, we can ask for a 1st as well as a player. Or Theodore, and get a quality prospect. [Edited on 2003/5/28 by TheAussiePosse]
  21. Nilsson at 18th? Wow Wasn't he 8th overall once?
  22. Any chance? Or Jose? Maybe if they go there and flop, we can finally right the trade that was all wrong ? :hlogo: [Edited on 2003/5/28 by TheAussiePosse]
  23. I wonder if Jose will ever be talked about this way Roy didn't have a completely glamorous career, even when he played for a terrible Habs team at one point. Can Jose use that excuse too?
  24. With Edmonton moving their players to the "Toronto RoadRunners" Organization, do you think there might be a future rivalry of ex-team mates or such. I think Roadrunners is a good name because going from Toronto to Edmonton during the regular season will involve a lot of "Roadrunning". But seriously, I can't wait to see who our goalies are for next season. Fichaud or Tarasov? :ghg:
