  1. Kosto's is by the book. But SOMEONE on Boston (probably chara) should get something for all their gooning it up...
  2. I wouldn't make any more changes than I had to from the line up that won 7-4 against boston if I was carbo, but I guess I'm not Carbo...
  3. I'm liking Chipper with Lats... they did great on Saturday. Lats really benefits from chipper's playmaking. Glad Higgy's playing, hope that's a sign that the injury's not too serious, and it doesn't turn out that it was bad and playing makes it worse... this guy deserves to break out already with how hard he works!
  4. that's if he plays... boone says they don't know the severity of his leg injury... enough already for this poor guy!
  5. you know, I actually only hate tucker cuz he's on the other team... Lapierre IS our Darcy Tucker, just cheaper and younger. I hope he gets another chance soon...
  6. true. I just hope he stops yapping so much if he's not gonna back it up... and the hits; he needs to go for big hits without them being borderline dirty... He had a great game though last night from what I hear. I'm not meaning to knock on that game... about souray, isn't that really the first time you miss him though? Straight up, if you could have Souray vs. Hamr, wouldn't you keep Hamr (considering we can't have both)... In hindsight, I'm not missing souray nearly as much as I thought I would (and I was a pretty big fan)... I thought I'd miss his offense, but we're doing just fine on the PP, and that's basically where he brought it. I don't miss his Defence, I don't miss his transition game, I miss his toughness a little, but I don't really miss his leadership because I think we've got enough of that coming in the form of young blood taking over... We're a better hockey team now without him and with Hamr than we were with him and without Hamr...
  7. Robinson IS long overdue (not that I ever saw him play, but heard A LOT about the legend). I don't know whether we have a realistic chance of winning this one, what with Ottawa out to redeam themselves after being shut out by TO. All I ask is a solid effort and no weak goals let in by the netminder. Any official comment on whether it'll be Huet or Price yet? Also, looking at our 3rd and 4th lines, I gotta say, I like our 4th line as our third more and more. Chipper is playing EXCELLENT hockey (I'm gonna have to add him to my Fav habs list soon... it's getting long) and Lats is showing signs of life with him, while Dandy has been playing excellent at forward all season and really using his speed to his advantage...
  8. no thank you. Boston has a bunch of goons so we need one because? In case you didn't notice, we still won the game last night... I hate the thuggery. I would hate to have one of these thugs on our team who's good for nothing else. At the same time, I worry about our players getting hurt, but they survived pretty good last night, didn't they? and as Johnnyhasbeen already mentioned, this has been discussed on here time and again. Don't we already have like 89 threads for this? why start a new one??
  9. I'm the farthest thing there is from a fighting fan, but in Lats' case, either he keeps it only to clean (not borderline, as he has done in the past) checks, or he fights (not too often or anythign, but he yaps an awful lot....)... he's a big guy, and he's getting a rep... not one I want a guy on our team to have...
  10. what is it about us they hate so much? Is it our thuggery and gooning it up? lol
  11. was breezer a healthy scratch tonight, or was it a therapy day for him?
  12. Thanks AC. your opinion's always helpful (and insightful) but didn't Ryder get a few points? No goals I know, but still, contributing again, so that's a good sign. Another thing that I think we SHOULD be concerned about: we scored 7, but 4 were on special teams (3 pp, 1 shorthanded...) Good that we scored 3 5 on 5, but we really need to be scoring MOST of our goals 5 on 5, and unless and until that changes, any game where we don't have a lot of PP time, our offense will be majorly neutralized...
  13. don't think i would describe last night as huet standing on his head...
  14. didn't watch tonight. Glad we won. REALLY glad we got a lot of goals. So is Higgins the one who's officially in a slump now? 7 goals from the team tonight and not even a point to show for it? I'm concerned about my fav player... those who were watching, did he at least play a good game?
  15. can we reconsider now? I think after the last two games the habs have played, we NEED immediate scoring help!
  16. ugh... i just wrote this great big response and then the computer ate it I'm going to sleep. Maybe I'll try writing it again tomorrow...
  17. As long as they can afford it, the city will continue to milk them... but it is unfair...
  18. yup. Terrible game. Players really only showed up with some chances in the second. While we were playing awfully in the first, Huet didn't bail us out, which is what you hope for from your goalie. But the whole team has been playing pretty bad for a couple of games now. Hope the Kosto experiment on the first line is over. We NEED Offense!!!
  19. I'm really glad Ryder's being tried on the third, but I'm not so excited about Kosto on the first. I hope it works out and they keep it simple. Maybe he'll just stand in front of the net and be able to smash home rebounds, and I know he earned it with his effort, but I"m not sure about his talent being suitable for that line. Hopefully if it doesn't work, it's a shortlived experiment. I'd put Lats there; he did it last year and did it well when higgy was injured, and it might get him jumpstarted at the same time as getting ryder jumpstarted.... even if he doesn't deserve it, he could work there... well, I'll wait and see how it pans out. I'd try chips there in a sec if he wasn't so valuable to the first line.
  20. That's my hope too. and HabitForming, I'm not trying to complain... I'm happy, really happy, that the team is doing as well as it is, but all through last year and the year before, I asked on this board why Perogie suddenly didn't get chances. He started his rookie season on the top line with Kovy and Koivu, and the three played fantastic together. when the team started losing, that line was broken up, not because they weren't producing offensively, but because no other lines were and the coach (Julien at the time) wanted to try other combinations to get the other three lines going. For whatever reason, Julien didn't like Perogie. I remember a report of him (Julien) blowing up at Perogie at practice and then Perogie being sent down to hamilton shortly after. Not sure what happened, but the guess at the time was that Perogie, due to language issues maybe, was not doing stuff in practice, or not understanding instructions, or whatever. After Julien was fired and Gainey took over, the top line was by then Higgins Koivu Ryder, and he played on either the third or fourth line. He was basically never given a prolonged shot on a scoring line again, that year or the next year, despite having a GREAT start with a lot of points when he was put in that position in the first few games of his NHL career. It wasn't jsut fans who thought he was great. I remember Koivu saying something to the effect of "He's really good. if he's not great yet, then we'll make him great" about 10 games into his rookie season. so does he have flaws? Yes. but did he deserve another shot on offense on a team that needs lots of it and has precious little? Yes as well... and it's not that often that a player like Koivu gives such a glowing review of a rookie....Jusst thought I'd refresh everyone's memory for why some of us wonder why he didn't get more of a chance
  21. he was bigger than grabovski. A LOT bigger
  22. on habsinsideout earlier this week, they said Huet was starting Friday (against buffalo?) and Price at home Saturday (against boston I believe?)
  23. I really wish he had stayed too, but c'est la vie! I believe he signed a two year contract in russia, but we still own his rights in the NHL. Hopefully his stint in russia makes him better and he comes back better, and he and Carbo learn to get along. I think he was very patient, but Carbo didnt' trust him and so didn't give him many chances. He took way too many hooking penalties, yes, but I've seen carbo be much more patient with other players I didn't think worked nearly as hard or deserved the patience, and he was a plus 10 (our highest Plus minus last year!) on a team riddled with minuses...
