  1. Where's Lapierre??? After last night, tell me you're NOT sending him back down, please!!! Sit Downey or Murray and play Lapierre. Rotate, do something.... Of course, I also like Streit on the fourth line more than I like him on D. Man, we have too many good players; I've always liked Plex, but I look at the lineups, and I think that it would be better to have Lapierre and Streit getting 4th line time then Plex. Time to trade him? Maybe?
  2. No, because Koivu was wearing a visor, so he wouldn't have to pay for anything. And this is about visors, not helmets. I agree about grandfathering it in, but it's true, the players wearing visors shouldn't get compensation if they get injuries... I mean, hockey's a ridiculously fast sport, the puck's always flying EVERYWHERE. How can you expect NOT to get hit???
  3. This is also available on the Habs website when you click on the "get to know your canadiens" videos.
  4. I doubt he'll come back tonight... Carbo just wouldn't want to take that chance, and the team's winning anyway, so why not rest him one more game. But I bet he starts on the 4th on Saturday. And you're right, that would be quite the fourth line with Lapierre and Streit
  5. That was HILARIOUS!!!! Although I'm sure it's not true
  6. Yeah, I read the quote in the gazette this morning: That would require Higgins to move to centre. "I think it would be easier to stay on the wing, but I played centre until two years ago," Higgins said. "It will take some minor adjustments, but if it helps the team and I get the amount of ice time I should, I'm OK with it." Higgins said he's never missed more than two games in a row and the past 5 1/2 weeks have been frustrating. "When I was 14, I had a skate run over my (left) wrist here," Higgins explained, displaying an old scar. "It was cut down to the bone, but I only missed two games." I was surprised too, but I guess he's probably just sick and tired of not playing... he's never missed more than 2 games, and he probably wants to keep having success, and where he's had it is on the wing... we'll see anyway. I'm sure that, despite the comments, if Carbo chose to play him 10 games on the fourth line, he wouldn't say anything to the press.
  7. I don't know if anyone else saw it, but in the Lats article in the Gazette the other day, Carbo said that even though Lats got all his points on the first line, it was a no-brainer that Higgins will be back on the first line when he gets back. I wonder if Carbo will stick to this decision, or play around with Higgins centering the second line?
  8. ummm... that's an awful lot of pressure to put on the poor guy... let's not set him up for failure here.
  9. I actually didn't realise what you meant about top offensive threats on forward being out.... I'm like "I know Souray's out, but did I miss something? Who's out up front?" and then it hits me. Of course! Higgins. It's amazing that we're playing this well without him. That said, I can't wait to have him back.
  10. Mad Max is good, but I bet you the players already call him Lappy. They always just go for the "y" at the end of the first syllable of the name (first or last)... They probably don't care that it's already Lapperiere's nickname... Not our team anyway, so what's the problem? and KoZed, what's Pete all about? How is that anything to do with Maxim Lapierre?
  11. I wish you were right, but something tells me Ryder, Kovy, Sammy and Plex won't ALL get out of their slumps at the same time.
  12. Who cares? I don't mean who cares because I don't care about the Habs. I just mean who cares because let's be real, it's NOT important right now. What's important is a woman is likely dead, a father, sisters, and brother are mourning. Let's not even discuss this.
  13. I hate to break it to you habs_in_the_blood, but I think Higgins had another no contact practice. I read it on Habs inside Out.
  14. It would be really nice if Lapierre got to play and played well. He's deserved a call-up for so long now. Always bad for regulars to be injured, but we have the depth on the farm now to cover for them, and it gives up and comers like Lapierre a chance to gain experience and show their stuff. This is yet another sign of how far the team has come that an injury isn't so problematic. Having said that, four or five injuries all at once? I just hope this doesn't turn into the year we lose over 500 man games to injury again...
  15. I don't know how willing another team would be to swallow those salaries for the production they give, even if Gainey does want to trade them. In the world of the Cap, a rich team can't take someone on just cuz they have the money; they might still need that money for someone who's going to be more worth it...
  16. heheh... you're welcome, and I just noticed we have a lot of the same favourite players... Higgins, Koivu, Souray... Great minds think alike, I say.
  17. kaos, Lazy26, you're both hall-of-famers... we all love both of you and wish you would get along I certainly enjoy reading both of your comments.
  18. Agreed. When you're having that much trouble scoring, it's time to change things up...
  19. The unfortunate truth is that he had a point... of course, having said that, it's still pretty low-classy and obnoxious of him to say it about the opposing team... Brodeur pretends to be all "aw shucks" but he's really one of the most obnoxious nhlers out there... Agreed. Definitely agreed. Shuffle the first two lines... just DON'T touch the third line. They're magic.
  20. Couldn't agree more... Did anyone see how Streit played on the 4th last night? Was he good?
  21. Thank you! I know I haven't posted ever, but I don't FEEL new, since I've been reading everyone here's insight for over a year. I can't find a better forum online for the Canadiens. I sometimes blog about things I've seen on this forum, or about the great new blog over at the gazette (habsinsideout.com), which I found out about from this site Check it out if you'd like, it's linked from my signature...
  22. It's really too bad poor Higgs couldn't make it back for this game in time.... He always plays so well against his hometown. Well, let's hope Komisarek picks up the slack and has a good game. Maybe he could even score another shorthanded one? He's had 2 already this season I believe. (Higgins has had 3)...
  23. Exactly. Thanks, but no thanks: I'll stick with Huet... I've NEVER liked Brodeur, even though a few years ago I had to admit he was good, but there's just something so fake about the guy.
