  1. I just read this piece of crap from Ron MacLean. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/blogs/ronmaclean/2011/03/the-law-of-nations-becomes-the-rule-of-money.html The guy is actually dumber then I gave him credit for. He seems to be even a bigger idiot then Don Cherry. Does the following make any sense to anybody here??? How the hell does this guy have a job - oh sorry, his working for the same station that has employed Don Cherry for over 35 years and also employs wing nuts like Mike Milbury and PJ Stock. It's going to a pretty one sided Hot stove today with Lebrun, Milbury and Maclean all pretty much supporting the non-suspension of Chara, and I don't even want to hear what the CBC's drag queen has to say. In contrast to the pseudo-intellectual wannabe trite written by Maclean, here is a thoughtful piece by Ken Dryden that I also linked in another post: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/ken-dryden-on-hockey-violence-how-could-we-be-so-stupid/article1939428/singlepage/#articlecontent
  2. I think if we did call up Boyd, someone in the east would probably try and claim him just to prevent us from using him. Heck, I can even see a lousy team like the islanders putting in a claim, even though they aren't going anywhere but the draft lottery. To White and Halpern bring other elements (Halpern is good on the faceoff and White is LOT more physical then Pyatt). While neither are offensive, they do offer more POTENTIAL then Pyatt. As far as Dawes goes, at this point you would think he would be trying to grab at any oppertunity to get back into the NHL. I've thought the season was a wash for a while, but I just want us to finish ahead of and go further then those friggin Brooons.
  3. as usual my favourite all time player writes a great piece with a perfect perspective: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/ken-dryden-on-hockey-violence-how-could-we-be-so-stupid/article1939428/singlepage/#articlecontent
  4. and the news keeps getting better http://www.ckac.com/hockey/nouvelles/sopel-aurait-une-fracture-a-un-bras-64215.html
  5. I didn't turn on the game until there was 5 minutes left. I was pissed, as i said in another thread - not at the NHL's non-suspension, i said at the time of the incident, that there probably wouldn't have been one. Hell, MaxPac even if maxpac was killed the idiots in charge of the NHL probably woudn't have suspended CHara. What pisses me off more is the reaction from the hockey establishment in calling this a hockey play. To me that is BULLSHIT!!! That is what's been boiling my blood for the past two days. Having said that, i started watching hockey when I came to canada just before my 5th birthday and I became a habs fan when I became a hockey fan. I have been a habs for over 35 years and with the exception of a 2-3 year period after the mess created by the unholy trinity Corey-Houle-Trembley, I have lived and died with the habs over that period. When the time won i felt the joy and when the team lost, I felt the defeat. Even during the period when i didn't watch the games, I still kept reading the news on the habs by making a couple of weeks weekly to the downtown library to read the gazette (as I had done since a teenager since that was the only way to get regular news on the habs before the internet explosion) to see what was happening, hoping, praying that those friggin idiots who had destroyed the franchise would be fired. Anyways, I long ago lost faith in the leadership of the NHL under Bettman, the idiots like Burke and Campbell who are in charge of officating and the blind stupidity of the zebras. But the big eye opener for me was just how stupid the whole friggin hockey establishment is, based on the largely pro-Chara reaction accross the league and most of the hockey media types. It also pisses me off when bloggers like Arpon Basu seem to sit on a fence and be willing to call a spade a spade by not wanting to make a judgement on intent. To me there are two issues here. The first is accountability. The NHL and the hockey establishment needed to make Chara accountable for his actions and instead they gave him a get out jail free card. IMO, there is no way Chara shouldn't have been held unaccountable for his actions and at the VERY LEAST careless that led to MaxPac's injury. to me that should have been worth a minimum of 5 games. The second is intent. Wamsley has made the point you can't detemine intent on that play. I disagree. When for the past two games the ENTIRE bruins team has been making runs at and targeting MaxPac and Subban (coincidently the habs BEST young players) and that Chara gave him a vicisous two handed slash that wasn't called AND repeatedly was trying to get him to fight, I think you have enough circumstantial evdience on intent to punish him. To top it off the bastard says he didn't know it was MaxPac when he hit him?????? Are you friggin kidding me????? to me that statement alone should be an affront to any intelligent person and should net Chara a MINIMUM of 20 games just for insulting the intellegence of any reasonable person. However it appears to me that the hockey establishment has shown they have no intelligence, have a negative IQ - if that's possible and are the biggest morons in the sporting world. In ANY other sport, including football, discipline USUALLY is adequete. In hockey you have idiots like Murphy and Bettman talking about an unfortunate incident in OUR VERY FAST GAME. yes its the speed of the game that led to the incidident. Friggin damn idiots!! Who after the Bertuzzi incident is going to say that they intend on hurting anyone???? that is for a reasonable person to decide and clearly there are very few reasonable people in the hockey community. Anyway, I'm still to pissed to really even be writting, so last thing is that based on Accountability and Intent, this is the kind of incident that should have netted Chara a minimum of 30 games. I'm probably in the minority on this on this site, but I think there is no place for fighting in hockey. The retribution arguement is a crock of shit. If you hold people accountable for their actiosn with stiff penalites, there is no "self-policing" requird by players and you avoid this whole detemrination of "intent" after the fact. If you accidently high stick someone leading to an injury - make it an automatic 5 game suspension. If you cross check someone in the face 5 game suspension. Hit someone from behind 10 game suspension. 2nd incident double the suspension. Third triple it. Make it automatic. Take out the judgement from idiots like Campbell, Murphy, Burke and the rest of the clowns in charge of the safety of the game. Discipline in the NHL is a joke. Getting a 3-5 game suspension in a 82 game schedule is meaningless. Gettig a 3-4 game suspension in 16 game NHL season is significant.
  6. Read the article on who we replace MaxPac with and I can't really agree with any of the choices. Last night i just watched the last 5 min of the habs game - was still to pissed off to watch. Not so much about the NHL's reaction - I expected that. What really pissed me off is that almost EVERY damn analyst, coach, GM and the majority of the players interviewed felt that Chara didn't deserve a suspension - the only one's who I've read that did think Chara warranted a suspension were Thornton and Sedin. There was't any mention of past history, the fact that the nice noble Chara gave MaxPac a two handed slash near the end of the last game and was trying to get him to fight. Then Chara goes on to say, he didn't even know it was MaxPac. Are you friggin kidding me??? A Norris trophy winner doesn't know who they player he is trying to stop him is????? The whole hockey play arguement is hogwash. The puck was no where near Maxpac. The whole it would be a non-factor if it happened anywhere else in the rink is a piece of shit arguement, because bottom line is that it didn't happen any other place in the rink and players KNOW where they are in the rink. Are these talking heads saying that if Chara crosschecked MaxPac 10 feet in front of the net and crosschecked MaxPac's head in the goal post 1 foot away from the post, there shouldn't be difference in the disciplinary action, because if the cross checked happened somewhere else, the impact from crossing checking somone's head into the post wouldn't have been as bad - after all, a cross check is just a cross check???? Why is there a difference then in discipline for cross checking someone into the boards head first into the boards and cross checking someone in front of the net to clear the view for the goalie????? Why is the hockey establishment so friggin stupid and brain dead????? I also hate the whole argument that Chara has no history of disciplinary action. Well that's because he's gotten a free pass in the past!!! Remember a few years back in the playoffs when he grabbed Komisarik from behind and started pounding on him AND Komi got a fighting penalty for being a punching bag???? The only difference between that incident and the Bertuzzi incident is two things. One, while the bruins targeted Komi the same way the Canucks targted Moore, when Chara ATTACKED Komi from behind, Komi didn't hit his head on the ice and get seriously injured - AND the Bruins while clearly targeting Komi didn't publically declare they were going to get him. Same thing with Chara on MaxPac, the big ape had enough of a brain not to publically declare he was going to go after MaxPac, but he was CLEARLY targeting him in the 8-6 loss as well as last game. So what it has come down to is as long as you are smart enough to keep your mouth shut and then try to kill someone, there will be no repurcussions. I totally agree with Thornton regarding the bruins horseshoe - they used to have one - one of the most influentuel dinasour owners (2nd worst owner in hockey after bill wirtz, with #3 being Ed Snider) in that bastard Jeremy Jacobason, or whatever his friggin name is, and then the traded for the 2nd horseshoe, Colin Friggin Campbell's son. How Lucic hasn't been suspended 4-5 times by now is beyond me. How the bruins didn't get 4-5 instigator penalties in that 8-6 game is beyond me and how that crock of shit Julian didn't get fined in that 8-6 game is bull shit! All day long on the calgary radio sports channel, the local idiots were calling it a regular hockey play. These are the same damn idiots like Peter Maher who would be screaming bloody murder if the same thing ever happened to Iginla. After hearing all that crap during the game, I was in no mood to watch the game last night. Anyway, i expected the boys to be flat last night and its good to hear that MaxPac isn't hurt quite as bad as I originally thought, although who knows if he ever will play again and even if he does whether he'll be the same player. Remeber Zednik when he was just coming into his own and another god damn bruin took him out? He was never the same player again. Never cut to the middle like he did before that hit. Now we need to figure out what to do with the current lineup, because, now more then ever, I want the habs to pass the damn Broons in the standings. I know its going to sound like my usual gomez bashing, but what I saw from him the 5 minutes i did watch is what i've watched for most of the season - he carries the puck end to end, to give it up at the blue line, shoot it in and the habs lose the puck or make a inconsequential play where the habs get shot from way out, which really all it accomplishes is allow the opposition's goalie to raise his save percentage. Anyway, like I said i disagreed with most of the choices and still don't understand the critisism of Ak46. Where is the same level of criticism for Cammillari who is making the double the money and has been as streaky and IMO even less effective??? What I'd like to see is the Habs keep in tact the one line that was producing regularly for the past 6 or so games - AK46-Eller-Moen. If they are going to tinker, tinker with maybe putting Gionta with them instead of Moen. I wouldn't mind seeing White play with Eller and Ak46, because i do think he has more offensive potential, but while that line is producing, why mess with them. However, Idealy, i'd rather the habs coaching braintrust figure out how to get the Pleks line going and keeping Desharnais effective, rather then how to replace MaxPac - because - really there is no one we have who can play that power forward role that MaxPac had stepped into. I also think the habs really need to rethink the use of Pyatt. They already have Moen, White, Halpern in the lineup - all guys who are defensively responsible, but you are pretty much just thankful when they did score (yes, Halpern did have a strong start, but what we have since is what we can really expect from him). To me this means loading up on the three centres who have been effectively producing and either moving Gomez to the wing (he really sucks on faceoffs anyways), or moving him to the 4th line. I also think that we need to see if there's anyone on the farm that can help, because, i'd rather see someone with more offensive potenial then Pyatt. I don't think we can call up Boyd without him having to go through re-entry waivers. I've only seen one Hamilton game this year and from that an the Stats, Palushaj really shown he deserves a shot. I say give Dawes a shot. He is supposed to have speed and does have some potential to score. Who knows PG may luck out on him the way we got lucky with Moore's contribution. Here's what i'd propose: Gionta-Pleks-Cammy Gomez-Desharnais-Pouliot Ak46-Eller-Moen White-Halpern-Dawes
  7. I've got new found respect for THornton and Sedin - well i've always liked him. It's also nice to see one Don Cherry's golden boys speaking out against the big bad broons. Granted he has an axe to grind, but nevertheless its gutsy. I've been seeing for years, why the hell does the NHL have an exgoon type player (Campbell), or a goon lover (Burke), in charge of discipline. You should have someone like a Bossy who had his career ruined by gutless crosschecks to the back. I also am so pissed off in Calgary - ALL of the radio announcers - including their hall of famer joke of an announcer Peter Maher- saying that there shouldn't have been a suspension and it was a hockey play. I'm still so pissed, couldnt watch the game tonight, just caught the last 5 minutes.
  8. Exactly - convienient explanation - I doubt if that is how it actualy works!
  9. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL takes away the Game Misconduct penalty to Chara rather then suspend him. I have no faith in how this league hands out "discipline"
  10. They said that Chara already escaped to the Bruins bus to escape facing the media. Real stand up guy - friggin ape!
  11. I disagree - he was a marginal 4th liner.
  12. as far as Chara goes, I woudn't shed a tear for that ape either. He is a piece of crap and deserves know better. Not that I'd want the habs to hit him from behind like BOTH, Chara AND Lucic did with Komisarik a few years back, but I absolutely HATE Chara and Lucic - and know I woudn't like these goons on my habs. My habs will always be about speed and style not the dirty/cheapshot Bruins/Flyers or the truculant and beligerrant Burke leafs.
  13. Not that its relevant, but do you really think Moore would have lasted 7 years in the league?? Main issue is that if the NHL HAD suspended Moore for an obvious flagrant headshot, the issue would have ended there, but no, the NHL didn't think there was anything wrong with Moore headhunting and it led the team trying to take things in their own hands - which is always a recipe for disaster. I love montreal - MaxPac is a star!
  14. I thought it was Naslund??? IMO both plays were gutless. Issue is the NHL doesn't make the right call initially, causing teams to take things in their own hands. Which is probably going to happen when Chara most likely gets off scott free or at most gets a light love tap on the wrist. And now usual crap from Lucic trying to start a fight!  Can people are expecting class from these friggin pricks???
  15. I'm surprised he even felt it should have been a penalty how was that not a penalty on Campbell??? refs afraid to call a penalty on Colin's son?????
  16. Expecting any class from the bruins or flyers is like expecting the NHL to do the right thing by suspending Chara for any meaningful time.
  17. Are you friggin kidding me??? You want us to be civil on a FORUM, when a little prick like Bergeron almost "accidently" steps on Price and now Thronton chasing after Subban?????
  18. little shit Marchand, tries to after the rebound
  19. I don't like how the habs aren't showing anthing on this PP. I know the score really doesn't matter, but damn it do something to make the damn bruins pay!!!
  20. Like I said, i was a habs - a guy with a shot like Subban or Wiz, i'm shooting at the heads of the Bruins top players. These guys deserve no better
  21. You're actually surprised??? Just wait until Coaches corner on Saterday when that cross dressing drag queen goes to bat for Chara and his friggin bruins! I won't even mention the other CBC anti-habs bruins Stock and Milbury.
  22. If i'm a habs tonight, I don't take slapshots at the net anymore. I take slapshots at the face of cheap shot crap like Lucic, Horton and their top guys like bergeron. This is a team without any honour, they don't deserve to be treated with any!
  23. I'm worried he may have a broken neck. This should be a minimum 10 game suspension. Gillis got 9 games for a hit that wasn't nearly as dangerous. Just wait until saterday when that CBC drag queen clown will defend Chara by saying that MaxPac and the partition is to blame and Chara didn't try to hurt him intentionally. But i'd be surprised if its even 2 games given Campbell's track record.
  24. I don't see him even getting that. After someone gets killed - that should be a 10 game suspension -but the NHL and Campbell in particular not only lacks the balls, but they also lack the brains to make the right call before someone IS killed!
