  1. You are right spent! But my concern is depth. I really don't want to say this, but years ago with Al Vigneault, he brought the habs into the playoffs while setting an NHL record for man-games lost in a season, which has since been broken and set by another team. We do need some form of consistancy with the lines though!! I agree completely, but that doesn't stop me from shaking my head and saying, " NOT AGAIN." After their amazing run, they proved to me that they could take on anyone when they put in an effort - and that was with injuries to the lineup-. And now, I am second guessing this, and I am sure many habs are too. But like I said before: I LOVE THE HABS AND I'LL ALWAYS CHEER THEM ON!!!! :hlogo: :ghg:
  2. I don't like it when any fan decides he has the right to bash any player on the ice!!! And to me it doesn't matter. Balej is doing better than KOvy and will for the rest of his career. The trade, as I had metioned before, was crap!! It can only look HALF decent if he signs again. Realize this people, KOvy hasn't been an ELITE player for a while and even then its questionable. ELITE usually refers to consistency in numbers. Disagree, look at the stats. You fans put Kovy on a pedestal so high and unrealistic it sickens me!!!!:puke: Kovy will do nothing for this team at all this year, next year if he signs and if there is hockey, then maybe. SERIOUSLY, DID ANYONE EVEN HEED GAINEY'S WARNINGS??? I mean really, or was he just too busy talking to the bloody wall?!!! Besides, this was a team effort!! To blame one person is ludecrous!! The habs probably are going to get slaughtered playoff time, but what should that mean? That we shouldn't sign Kovalev?!! That we shouldn't sign half the team, ohhh... and while we are at it, lets do what we habs fans usually do and want => fire CJ, fire BG, fire the team, call up some really good university team and have Pleks and Komi be the team leaders!!! Oh ya that'll get us the cup that year for sure!!! We are rebuilding, and we are making a splash while doing it. Why is everyone singling people out in a season where we went beyond expectation? And people wonder why not many players stay in Montreal or even like it there :nono: Cheer on the team through sickness and health, and the good times and especially the bad!! Thats one thing about Ottawa and the people in Edmonton and Calgary, they support their team through everything. Especially Calgary. I think fans all accross Canada need a lesson or two from a bunch of Calgary fans!!! I know, b/c thats where I live and my friends are all Clagary fans. You want to know what they say about Calgary's success: " Its nice, the team is working hard, and they''ll probably not go very far, but there starting somewhere" And this from a Clagary fan to a habs fan!!! Support the team guys, there is nothing we can do about it anyway. Support can go a long way to attracting players. Whatever happens :ghg: !!!
  3. Okay, here is some humour to make this game a little easier to swallow, if at all possible. TOP TEN COOL USES FOR ZAMBONI'S: (Rik A. Kyser) 10. Tie rookies up and drag them around the rink. 9. Chasing squirrels around the arena parking lot after practice! 8. Get a couple of them and DRAG!... 7. Doin' donuts at the face-off circles... 6. "Just wait until the next time Coach makes me mad!"... 5. "Aw Coach, I was just doing my Jeff Gordon impression!'. 4. Scaring the heck out of ice-level broadcasters and analysts! 3. "I just need it to smooth off my lake at home!"... 2. Provides a moving target for slap-shot practice. 1. CAN YOU SAY "ZAMBONI GIRL"?!!!!!! :-) The Goaltender's Psalm The puck is my shephard; I shall not ice. It maketh me save in unnatural positions; It leadeth me into leg splits; It restoreth my fans' faith; It leadeth me in the paths of odd-man rushes. Yea, though I skate in the valley of the shadow of the net, I will fear no sniper; For my stick is with me; My facemask and pads they comfort me; They annointeth my body with SportsCreme; My back-up tippeth over! Surely coaches and trainers shall follow me All the games of my life :hlogo: :hlogo:
  4. Okay, I am really pissed off!!! Maybe it won't be so hard to study!! Aucoin scores. :wall: :mad: I don't if I should post this, b/c I know as soon as I do they'll score again!!
  5. Well I wish I was so wrong about this one!!! They score on the pp!!! I think it was Roman Hamrlik!!! Damn!!!
  6. Damn it, I am supposed to be studying for my English 101 final tomorrow night, but I can't when a game is on!!! And that penalty on Rivet?!! WTF?!! Thats a stupid call:nono: :can:
  7. I really don't want to be a pessimist, but I really don't think anyone on the habs other than Theo and saks and possibly, but doubtedly Ryder will show up tonight for the game. After reading some articles and stuff, I don't think anyone other than Theo and Quintal can really care about the teams for the rest of the season, everyone else just wants to get the playoffs going. My prediction, 2-1 NYI and Theo faces so much rubber that CJ decides to give the team a rest and let Theo get some 5-0 action going!!! lol!! But seriously, I think NYI will come out too strong for us and IF we win, its because Theo stands on his head. Hope I didn't jinx it!!! :hlogo::hlogo:
  8. Very true words ch_nl !! The habs have passed all expectations and everything from here on in should just be considered as bonus!! AS long as they put up a fight I will be happy:/)
  9. I don't really know why, but I have a bad feeling come playoff time!!! I really hope that I wrong. I see the team beginning to fall apart at the seams and I don't like it. Anything can happen for sure and it would be nice, but gut feeling is telling me this will be nasty. Well I hope I am wrong!!1 :ghg:
  10. OKay, I had a debate tonight with some moron who hates the habs, well he's an LA fan is still pissed off about the 93 cup finals!! :king: Anyway, the hit on Perreault ==> It was a knee on knee was it not?? I thought so and so did some other people , but he disagreed. Any comments?? :eyes:
  11. OKay here's one: How do you know when its Spring time? The Leafs are out!!! Probably an old one, but still makes me laugh!!!
  12. Well that was a horrible half-assed attempt if I have ever seen one. Something really bad is going on here, but I don't know what. SOmething is missing. Now, correct me if I am wrong - please correct me b/c I hope I am not seeing things- but it really seems that our work ethic has gone down the tube. It seems that Ribs is beginnnig to act just like Kovy :nono: and I worried about it. Quintal had a good night I thought, but Ryder and KOvalev have no idea how to cover a man when the D is out of position at all!!! And Rivet had his thumb up his ass all night long. I can't say that we are tired, we had a good first period and it slowly went down the crapper, I mean we gave up a two goal lead!!!!!!! I am not impressed and I am beginning to have my doubts. I like Kovy just as much as he deserves, but without starting any bashing, b/c in no fu#$ing way should any habs fan start it, but I did a little stats research. In the past 8 games in which Kovy was in the lineup we had a record of 3-4-1-0 and in the preceeding 8 games to Kovy's arrival we had a record of 7-1-0-0. I am not saying in ANY WAY that this is all Kovy, but I think that maybe he is something that this teams really doesn't need. I mean is dispensable at least for this season IMO. I don't think he is going to add a win or two for us in the playoffs, but thats quite an unreasonable request to begin with. There is a problem and I don't know what it is, a spreading of slacker mentality or something else I don't know. I just know that those stats look horrible and it was real hard to try and keep my lunch down tonight. I just hope beyond hope that we can resign Kovy next year and then a difference can be made. Man I do hope I am wrong and Kovy does help b/c we desperately need it in order to gain some steam heading into the playoffs. JUst once again, if anyone out there is reading this and thinks I am bashing Kovy, please reconsider, I want him next year and no habs fan should ever bash him again!!!!! I hope this made some sense to anyone out there, I have a tendacy to write and write and be so incoherent!! <== ME :/)
  13. It would really be neat if we did chase Raycroft out of the nets toight. As long as Ryder puts it to him tonight I will be so happy!!! GO KOVY AND RYDER GO!!!! :-^
  14. Here here Ribeiro !!! I couldn't agree with you more!! Like the old saying, if ain't broke don't fix it!!! Hope the lines get set to the ones that worked!!! :ghg:
  15. Man that was a good post jl.roberts!! I have read a lot of the pregame threads and that was one of the funniest!!! OKay, I find humour in the smallest of places : "#26 floating crap" ! BEsides that, you made some awesome points about the Kovalev bashing. I mean don't habs fans understand that if Kovy deosn't sign next year we lost the deal hardcore?!!!! The "Best Trade" made as considered by lots of habs fans when it happened, will turn into most of our other trades. Give up too much and lose what we get. In order for this trade to be a good one, we need to sign hime for next year. So no prediction from me yet, but GO KOVY GO!!!! Show those bastards who's the man!!! I wish, but honestly, one word ...... drum roll...... TIME!!!!! :/):ghg::/)
  16. And the really funny and odd part of this KOvalev bashing is that Gainey tried to let the fans know to not get their expectations up. BUt oh well, all we can hope for is the best and hope that we sign him for next year, in which I think he will make a difference. But as I said before, its too late in the season for him to make any large difference. As long as we sign him I'll be optimistic even though I had and still do have mixed feelings about the trade. GO HABS GO!!!!!:/)
  17. This one is going to be interesting IMO. The Sens have really been struggling of late and the Habs just got off a bad game last night, and not to mention two games in two nights!!! I am not holding my breath. Ottawa has three wins in their past ten games!!!! Ouch!! And sadly I saw the loss against Edmonton I left the arena and was still waiting for the Sens to show up. I predict a slow paced boring one goal game. Something like 2-1 or 2-2, but no more than 4 golas in total. Just a prediction, I hope I am wrong and the habs win, but then again I won't be able to listen to this one b/c of a night class  Anyways, :ghg:
  18. I personally don't think that there is a need for concern just yet. Julien is dealing with a lot of changes to the roster and an excess of forwards. He needs to find where each belong. He changed the lines and they were a failure. It happens to all teams. Is he a bad coach? NO IMHO I think his lack of emotion is a good thing. If you all can go back to the 72 summit series, ask yourselves what made the Russians play so well, in Canada? We know the political corruption in Russia, but in Canada. It was, if I remember right, Phil Esposito who said that Russia lacked all types of emotion, even when they scored a goal. No celebration, no smiles, just hockey. Team Canada on the other hand had their emotion on their sleaves, eventually it worked out in their favour, but there are upsides and downsides to each philosophy, and I personally think that with a team like MOntreal, and their rebuilding, JUlien needed to have a stone-like set of emotions. That way they don't get deeper in the hole. I know this doesn't explain their lack of effort. Whatever it was, I hope and think that they will cough it out of their system. Our last regulation time loss was against San Jose 22 days ago!!! JUst ride proudly with them for the downs and the anticipation of the ups will come!!! If that last sentence made any sense to anyone, I applaude you. It sounded good in my head, but I can't think of any other way to put it:D :ghg:
  19. Well, it wasn't a bad game tonight. Entertaining to say the least. I just have one concern now, and I am sure most of you can agree with me. As I have been watching the past few games with Kovalev, it hit me that the Rags do have a system. CJ wasn't trying to give the Rags more credit than they deserve. The load of play is on the individual players and their ability to produce single-handedly. Yes, I know you all know this, nothing new, so what am I trying to get at here? There were quite a few good chances tonight against the devils. When KOvalev touched the puck, he lit it up, his movements and his puck handling ability. I mean wow. Okay so what is my concern? Its that during those good chances, Kovalev didn't take the chances!!! He's still trying to score indivdually. There was the one where Ribeiro came streaming from the point wide open, uncovered, three guys were attempting to get the puck from Kovalev and he shot and it went wide. Point in motion is that as Ribs was streaming from the point wide open, a beautiful set up was there. He is still in the Ranger's mindset, but is not real lazy anymore though. One step at a time. I know. But this type of incident happened quite frequently and it had me yelling and screaming and cursing how he could do that. When he adapts to our system he will make the red light go on and on and on and... well I think you get the point. I am just worried that this system might take too long to get rid of from Kovy - like next season- or that it spreads to his line mates - Ribs-. B/c we all know how close those two have become. This may sound weird, but I think we need Kovy to give the puck to a team mate and set up. Have him rushing the net rather than Ribs. I think more things will happen, but not until he passes!!! I am just saying that it bugs me to see an open Dags, or an open Ribs, or ... and they aren't being used. Kovy brings some great aspects to this team, but I think he needs to take something from this team first in order to be effective. I just hope he adapts either before playoff time or before the end of our exit from the playoffs, regardless of how early (1st round ) or late ( cup) we leave. B/c what happens next season might not be very pretty. I still think he's awesome and I am still excited about it all!!!!! :ghg: :-^
  20. And everyone wanted O'neill for Zednik!!!! hahahahahahaha!!! I don't know about you, but I think Gainey is showing a great example to all habs fans out there, PATIENCE AND CONFIDENCE ARE GOOD THINGS!!! No rushing or jumping!!!
  21. Come on guys!!! The rivalry between Toronto and MOntreal is all what the fans make it to be - pure hatred for one another and their team-. Look the players lost that rivalry between each other years ago. How the hell can you you get excited when you know the players have no spirit in them for a rivalry as such? Don't kid yourselves guys, there were and are bigger rivalries today. MOntreal-Quebec was the biggest, not the Toronto-MOntreal, the Boston-MOntreal always felt like the bigger one to me, even though I hate Toronto and their fans, but then again most habs fans suck too, but I still love the habs. Watch out guys, KOvalev is not our saviour, just watch, but don't get too upset when you realize that he will do nothing for us this year that our other boys couldn't. You did the same thing for Komi and now most of you want to see him out before playoffs!!!!!! By out I mean not in the playoffs. Kovalev will do only OK for us next season, if there is one, and if he doesn't sign with Toronto!!!! Which I have a feeling he will. Argue if you want, but its not worth my time. This game will have to go against MOntreal. PLayers don't act like it is a rivalry, so its all based on the situation each team is in and skill. Well, MOntreal is not in a do or die situation and they are tired. Toronto, admit it, has more skill, and more price than MOntreal. Wow, Toronto with the edge here. Don't cry too hard guys, we have no luck with Toronto, and if MOntreal comes out slow again like they have done pretty much every game except a choice few, we're toast. I am still going to cheer all I can for them, but I am not holding my breath!! :ghg:
  22. Habs win!! 5-2, empty netter. A little better than the LA game, but still a little sluggish out of the gate. Well, hopefully Kovalev will be back next game. Interesting about that though. Did anyone hear Cherry's comments about that on Saturday? He said that is was probably the equipment needing to be broken in and that Kovalev should have brought the insides of his equipment with him. Usually I take Cherry's words with a grain of salt, but considering he was such a flop in the NHL and was traded so often, I am pretty sure he has experience with this one. Might be a first!!
  23. This might sound kinda weird, but I really don't follow baseball. I find it way too boring. JUst an excuse to get piss drunk!!! Thats just MO. Its more entertaining to watch mini putt championships on tsn!!! lol
  24. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! I get it. I feel like a moron. Thanx. BUT damn it Ducks score!!! Nahh, nothing to worry about, it just might fire the habs up more!! :ghg:
  25. I was reading at nhl.com and they said that Dowd was calling the habs "The New York Yankees of the NHL." Can anyone explain this one to me please?? Thanx, I am sorta lost!! And Ryder scores!!! Wow, the habs are doing just fine right now!!! :ghg:
