also, for the Flash install attempt shut down any other browser you might have running go to task manager and make sure you don't have any adobe processes running (sometimes adobe reader doesn't properly close) turn off any anti-spyware, popup blocker, or adware blocker software you have running (these can sometimes kill Flash). You can turn them on one-by-one once (if) it works. Is the install freezing? Are you getting an error message? Does it claim to install but just not work?

hmmm... habs.tv works for me on FF3. I'm using FF 3.1 Beta 2, which I know has some added embedded video support. Maybe that'll do the trick (it also has a better tabs implementation than previous firefox). I know I'm not answering the question you originally asked... but this might be an alternate solution to your core problem.

i'd probably say more like 7 or 8, but I'd not begrudge you the extra 2 or 3... The lack of Carolina penalties is infuriating - that is why I wonder as to whether the majority of calls were made by one ref. Maybe they were unable to coordinate their standards for the game? I wouldn't have had incredible hopes for the PP, but at least the Hurricanes would have been somewhat less fresh in the 3rd if they had to play more even strength or PK in the first 2 periods.

can Flash 9 install? Maybe install that and try to upgrade it?

what version of IE? Maybe try going to IE 8 beta... or uninstall the beta and see if it works on IE7? EDIT: I am physically obligated to mention trying Chrome or Firefox as an alternative to IE.

Last Night's Referee According to the NHL Officials Association webpage, this was L'Ecuyer's 2nd time refereeing an NHL game - his first time was an October game last season. there are only 2 other guys with as little experience as L'Ecuyer - one guy just joined the union last year and has yet to ref a game, the other was hired the same day as L'Ecuyer and ran one game. Gotta love using the habs as guinea pigs for new refs! Rather than pair him with a top veteran, they gave him this guy Brad Meier - a guy who has been reffing for 14 years and has run a total of 5 playoff games (6 years ago). He's among the elite "who's that" of the referee corps. Honestly - this guy has over 14 years of experience and 400+ games under his belt and I've never heard of him. I'm curious as to whether there is a place I can go to see who called which penalty. If I can stand it, I'm going to go back and rewatch the game once it comes out on archive and see if the penalty calling was more influenced by a rookie's inexperience or a veteran's bumbling mediocrity.

I am dubious as to what portion of the immigrant population remains ignorant of English or French. Moreover, I am dubious as to whether this is a real problem. The real problem, in my opinion, would be if the children of immigrants remained ignorant of French and English. I doubt this is the case. The inability of an immigrant to speak the local language is a one generation problem - if their children integrate linguistically, immigration has only a small long term effect on the language mix.
