  1. It takes a lot to keep Begin out. The guy went face-first into the boards, busted most of his teeth and mouth, and came back wearing a cage back in the playoffs. [Edited on 2005/10/13 by Toren]
  2. Atlanta is not having a good time with goaltenders. First Lehtonen goes out, now Dunham. This is starting to remind me of the Blues a few years ago, when they had to go to their 6th string goaltender on an emergency call-up from junior.
  3. Yeah, so we can get an 8th round pick instead of a 9th rounder for him.
  4. Which defenceman got nutmegged on that one? Alfy shot it right through his legs and through Theo.
  5. Chara had that one. He landed about three punches, one of them while falling. Ivanans got lucky, but Chara is out of the game for 5 minutes, so who cares?
  6. 'atta boy, Ivanans. I don't care if you lose, you took Chara out of the game for 5 minutes.
  7. What a move by Kovalev! EARN THAT $4.5 MILLION!
  8. What a PK unit! Bulis and Begin had two odd-man rushes there. One of them was a Begin partial break.
  9. Good to see Kovalev get such a huge cheer from the crowd.
  10. Don't take this team lightly. The odds are certainly stacked against us. To succeed, we're going to need a very strong game from between the pipes and from our blueline back. Radek Bonk will have to show Muckler why he made a mistake in trading him by shutting down the hottest line in the NHL right now. We can't just rely on our speed and youth to bail us out, because Ottawa is faster and younger. Begin's line is going to have to put the hurt on the forecheck and keep the crowd into it. And don't doubt Ray Emery. He's a very capable goaltender who can shut games down. Just because the Dominator is out doesn't mean we can breathe easy. 20 minutes until game time. Let's do this.
  11. They go by some weird system of injuries and last season's point totals. Rick Nash is at the bottom of Columbus' depth chart.
  12. Keep Dagenais. His time in the pressbox will open his eyes. When he gets inserted back into the lineup, he'll be ready to rip it up. He's gotta be one of the best depth guys we'll ever have. He's got numerous deficiencies, but if we can keep him on his game by letting him know he has to play every shift to earn his spot with Ribeiro, I think he'll respond. And a guy who lead our team in Goals Per Game last NHL season is a good person to have as depth.
  13. I saw him play for the Salmon Kings down here in Victoria. He's an absolute joke. I can't beleive a guy who is so nice to fans and kids, and does so much in the community, can be such a ###### on the ice. The Salmon Kings ended up releasing him after one of his many suspensions. I was at a game last year where Purinton cross-checked a guy from behind into the boards. We sat there for 30 minutes as the trainers and EMT's tried to stabilize him and get him to a hospital. And then during a fight later in the season, he started pulling some dude's hair and wouldn't let go. The refs finally restrained him and send him to the dressing room. About 5 seconds later, he comes barrelling out of the tunnel trying to fight the guy again. His own teammates had to restrain him. That was when the Salmon Kings felt they had enough and released him from the ECHL.
  14. Apparently the office ran out of coffee...wow... How about instead of collectively shitting enough bricks to build a shed, you tell us what the interview was about so we can put this to rest? [Edited on 2005/10/9 by Toren]
  15. I don't blame Nonis. He had one good game at the end of preseason, and was a defensive disaster throughout.
  16. Why would you mess with the lines just because Ivanans is in? Keep them the way they were. Kovalev - Koivu - Perezhogin Plekanec/Higgins - Ribeiro - Ryder Bulis - Bonk - Sundstrom Plekanec/Higgins - Begin - Ivanans
  17. Two-way contract. They figured if he was good enough to win the backup job, they should be paying him a decent amount. And the entry level contract has nothing to do with what round you were drafted in.
  18. Yeah, I'm suprised the Nucks got anything for Fedor, even though he played well during the preseason. Maybe they were just shopping him, who knows. I don't think that man's played a full game in his entire life. He has one good shift then takes the rest of the night off.
  19. Canucks did for sure. I'm a Vancouver fan, living so close, and I get to watch a lot of games. I also follow the farm team a little bit. Fedorov is another Marcel Hossa, on a much more extreme scale. Even more talent and strength/size than Marcel, even less work ethic and desire. He's played 15 games in the NHL and never scored. Brian Burke hated him. It was do or die this year for Fedor, and apparently they wanted him on the team but couldn't agree to a contract (I could be very wrong on this one) Balej gives them a shot at having someone who can make their lineup, and who brings it every night.
  20. I'm going to go against the flow and say with a heavy heart that Hossa picks up his second in OT.
  21. Beauty goal. Kovalev makes a huge breakaway pass to Perezhogin, he comes in, makes a little move then rips it high stick side.
