  1. Dagenais is a band-aid to stem the bleeding in our offence. His skating would have to drastically improve for him to be effective at the NHL level. I'd definitely like to keep him around for a few more years, but I really don't think a team that's serious about winning can have a guy like Dagenais on their second line.
  2. I really think we need to resign Kovalev or sign another superstar player. Name one championship contender without a big-name player on them. Someone making over at least $6-million
  3. Wow, I really like this trade for Dowd. Legitimate checking line center that's good on faceoffs, does all the little things you want, and has lived in a defensive system for years (New Jersey, Minnesota), so he won't need much time to get used to ours (which is a huge advantage, because he'll probably see a lot of ice time against the top lines in the league)
  4. If anyone needs some photoshoped pics, I used to work on a Half-Life mod, so I can do some stuff for ya. My email's sarentov@hotmail.com, throw me something with what you want, and I'll have it up for ya.
  5. If Kovalev doesn't sign with us next year, I'm pretty sure we get a second-round compensary draft pick, which might be as high as 31st overall. Which means that we only lose Balej (which sucks, but we've got a logjam of small, speedy prospects. We'll survive)
  6. You gotta remember that Komisarek started playing hockey when he was 14. That's a pretty late age for a blue-chip prospect. So, he'll develop later than normal, even for a defenceman. He's also still getting used to the speed and size of the game.
  7. I'm pretty sure I'd rather buy a 1:6th scale model of my ass. Not sure where I'd have room to put it, though (Had to make sure none of you would burn me on that one) I'd buy one of Mike Ribeiro, but I might mistake it for a red, white, and blue toothpick
  8. That was the most boring 62 minutes I've ever seen. I hope I never have the chance to watch a game like that again.
  9. If you can't watch the game, stay updated with Habsworld's goal-by-goal, brought to you today by yours truly. Access it by clicking here :ghg:
  10. Maybe Perreault can play the wing better than Koivu can. You can't just toss a man who's played center all his life on the wing and expect him to be just as good. Some players (ie. LW/C/RW Michael Ryder) can do it all, some other (ie. Mike Ribeiro. They wanted to move him to the wing, but he just wasn't comfortable out there) players just can't do it. Let Julien do the work. Perreault is still there for key faceoffs.
  11. Eh, I'm still a jerk I've learned that rumours this season mean nothing. So I don't beleive them anymore.
  12. He is a cancer to a team. Jagr's a great talent, but he's just not worth it anymore. His heart's not in the game.
  13. Man, if you thought the french media was bad, wait 'till JJ's on your team. Nothing ends a coach's career quite like a Jaromir Jagr.
  14. Juneau scores in the empty net. First goal in 18 games. Man, does this feel good. When Begin scored, it was like a playoff OT winner. Everyone piled on the defenceman who shot from the point (Cube?)
  15. 3-2! 3-2! 3-2!!!! 40 seconds to go!!!! I think Begin batted it out of the air, backwards, between his legs, and in front of the net. [Edited on 2004/2/25 by Toren]
  16. 2-2! Ryder scores again on the PP. Great shot by the Newf. Man, is that kid ever gonna be a clutch player.
  17. Right handed depth center with good size. Defensively responsible, faceoff artist, cheap to trade for. We probably wouldn't have to trade any prospects in the system. Maybe an AHL regular or long-time NHL shot from Europe.
  18. The Rangers fans generally chant "refund" when they get whalloped.
  19. That's why I said Brisebois gambled and lost. I didn't say he made a stupid play. And I still don't really blame Koivu all that much. He slipped. It does happen. He covered the front of the net when the defenceman left, but he slipped. He had everything going right for him but that.
  20. I just got this juicy rumour in from a long-time, reliable source. They said that Bob Gainey may or may not make a move before March 9th. If the deal isn't done by then, Bob will remove his proposal from the table and refuse to trade until the end of the 2004 season. Wow, I hope this guy's right. He didn't say what teams they were trying to trade with, but he said it definitely wasn't the Peterborough Petes or the Swiss National Team.
  21. Holy crap, what game were you watching? Koivu lost his footing and fell. It's not like Fitzgerald overpowered him. And on the second goal, I'm blaming the Cubester. Koivu raced back to make up for Brisebois losing the gamble on the pinch and picked up the closest man, which was the puck carrier Mogilny. Instead of picking up the intended pass reciever, Sundin, Cube just kept playing the pass interception. He missed, and Sundin scored. Nothing wrong with Saks there. Koivu breathed life into this team late in the second. I don't think I've seen him play that inspired since his return from cancer. And before you start telling me I wasn't paying attention, I wrote the goal-by-goal. I went over every single goal in that game with a fine-toothed comb. [Edited on 2004/2/22 by Toren]
  22. WHY?! WHY WOULD YOU BLOW THE WHISTLE THAT EARLY?! I'm all for equal opportunity and jobs for the disabled, but we need to stop pulling refs from the Canadian Institute for the Blind. VanMassenhoven, this one's for you: :-^
  23. This is where I miss Langdon. Begin, Ward, and Komi need to make some big hits. Someone's gotta drop the gloves and get some momentum going. EDIT: This is why I never want to trade Rivet. He knew he had to do something, and protecting Zednik and showing that you can't push this team around is what he did when he singled out Marchment after they left the box.
