  1. Well, since losing their first game, Nashville has gone on to lose every game they have played, albeit three of those losses came in OT/SO.
  2. Don't worry about, you're new, hehe. Welcome to HabsWorld!
  3. Hehe, not me. I haven't made a Game Thread since the 2004 playoffs.
  4. I think the word "miracle" works just fine. This was more than just a hockey a game. Considering it happened right in the middle of a recession during the Cold War, a lot of Americans were worried about the future. Then they started seeing this rag tag group of college kids beating teams they should not have been able to. When it came to the Russia game itself, it was more than just the US team vs. the Russian team. It was democracy and captialism against communism, two nations going at it. It was a time when people wondered if Russia was going to become superior. This game helped show that anything can happen. It raised a lot of spirits. Anyways, it should be called a miracle for the simple reason that it got Americans interested in hockye, even if only for a short time.
  5. And how many titles has Iverson helped his team win? Zero. It's not all about talent. Staying in the area of basketball, look at a guy like Larry Bird. Certainly not the most naturally skilled player in the world, but because of his amazing work ethic, he became one of the greatest players to game has seen. Hard work is just as important as skill. If you aren't putting it the time, your skill isn't going to mean nearly as much.
  6. Lemieux-Hrdina-Jagr Straka-Lang-Kovalev I was at a game that season, I think these were the lines.
  7. Congrats to all the new members of the 500 post club. Special props go out to Ribeiro. You are always wrong, but you defend your position without harrassing others, at least most of the time.
  8. Wow, only one person picked the Astros to make the Series, and nobody picked the White Sox. I knew Houston had a better chance than most thought, I should have gone with my gut and picked them to beat the Cards.
  9. beckham was banned for making racial comments and harrassing the administratiors of the site.
  10. Well, the streak is over. Adam Foote just scored a shorthander in OT to win it for the Jackets. Predators made it a great game though, scoring on a 6-4 with 19 seconds left in regulation.
  11. His avatar represents the team he is GM of for the HW EHM league.
  12. Here are the results from the Theo poll on the front page of HW: Q: Are you concerned with Theodore's early struggles? Yes, he doesn't look like himself....................20% Not yet, but I'm starting to worry..................24% No, he just needs time to adjust...................23% He'll be fine, he's just a little rusty.................17% It's 6 games into the season, why worry?.....16% [Edited on 10-24-05 by Fanpuck33]

  14. Maybe he just needs to wear a warm sweater under his jersey, hehe.

    Hazing

Where are you guys getting this broom stick in the butt stuff from? All that happened was they made the rookies strip down and stand in the crappy bathroom on the bus. I have no idea how the fight was hazing, did the coach ask one of the players to beat up the others? Anyways, Moe Mantha used to coach the Columbus ECHL team, I've met the man!
  16. I hate both teams, but it sucks that Lidge lost the game. Despite being an Astro, he's one of my favorite players. He's arguably the best closer in baseball. So many ks per 9 innings should be illegal.
  17. "Alive" is a good song, but it isn't exactly a song that gets the crowd or players pumped up. My personal favorite pump-up song is "Machinehead" by Bush, but that's not very unique. I think a really good, unique song would be "Beethovan" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Like "Machinehead," it would need a little editing to get out some slower parts, but it's a really awesome song. It combines the class of a Beethovan symphony with the excitement of electric guitars. I've only heard it once at a sporting event, so it would be fairly unique. Btw, if you've never heard of Trans-Siberina Orchestra, I strongly recommend them. Three of their four CDs are Christmas themed, the other being about Beethovan. They are greats CDs. I don't think they tour in Canada, but they are amazing in concert as well. As for "Vertigo" by U2, I hate the song and the group, so it sucks that it's now the Habs goal song.
  18. Again, I couldn't agree with you more. I HATE the saying "Let the players decide the game." It's so stupid. The only thing that not calling penalties late in hockey games does is give the offending team a better chance of winning the game. As long as the ref isn't putting the puck in the net, the players are deciding the game. A rule is a rule, time shouldn't make a differene.
  19. For sure man, Notre Dame was the better team today, and lost because the refs didn't have to balls to make the right call. I don't understand why they so rarely call that penalty when it is so clearly in the rules. It's even worse when a team loses a game because the refs are reluctant to make the call. It really hurts to lose like that. I can accept defeat when my team is outplayed, but Notre Dame was not outplayed today.
  20. This just in: referees have it in for Notre Dame. This is the rule in question: Rule 9, section 3, article 2, subheading b: "The runner shall not grasp a teammate; and no other player of his team shall grasp, push, lift or charge into him to assist him in forward progress." A number of years ago, Notre Dame scored what would have been the game winning touchdown, but had the touchdown called back because the refs ruled the runner was pushed across the line by a teammate. Today, Matt Leinhart scores the game winning touchdown after being pushed across the goal line by Reggie Bush. Do the refs throw the flag? Nope. USC wins on a missed call. SCREW REFS!
  21. Well said shortcat, I agree completely. Too many times people are harassed for displaying their faith in public, and I commend Danis for doing so. Then again, he might just think it's a nice looking building, and having been there, it is pretty awesome.
  22. Draft is set for Thursday the 27th at 6:30. It can be a little flexible, but I want the draft before the season, and most of the good draft times are already taken.
