I would point out that Hellebuyck is no slouch and definitely better than Campbell, yet the Habs still did better vs him. That could easily be chalked up to Toronto had the better defense. Goaltending wise I would much rather face Grubauer than Fleury in the playoffs. At the same time, Habs have Price, and he got in Winnipeg’s head early and never got out.

I want to say the real test is next round, but I’m not sure it is. Montreal shut down a dominant offense in the first round. They shut down a good offense in the second round. Actually in these past 7 games, they made good teams look not so good. I’ve been saying the Jets haven’t been playing well this series, but I’ve been overlooking the Habs just not giving them anything easy, like they did to the Leafs in round 1. I don’t want to jump the gun and over praise this team, but they look solid. The only thing I would really like to see changed a little is a 3rd pair on defense eat a little more minutes safely, but Chicago won a cup riding their top-4 so this is possible.

CBC has been highlighting an interesting stat this series. I think as of that OT, they slipped into second all time in not trailing in games, standing at over 430 minutes since they last trailed in the playoffs.

I do agree what we’re seeing in the 3rd is the result of rolling all 4 lines.

Habs outplayed the Jets badly for 50 minutes. End of the game Habs have their legs going. This OT is gonna be real short or real long. I’m picking Caufield for the Habs, Connor for the Jets.

The only thing about the Romanov trade idea is it doesn’t make sense to not pull the trigger now if that were the case. Why keep him out when the deal could be done now and the players involved are just not eligible to play until next season. Also it puts you down a body for play playoffs. I honestly think it’s there hasn’t been a good time to put him in. Gustafsson bring offence that Romanov doesn’t, so make the 3rd pair a specialty unit for the PP. now with Petry out, there’s a 4th slot open on the defense that you have Kulak and Romanov auditioning for. Romanov needs to be like KK and Caufield and make it so DD can’t take him out of the lineup.

I agree with sitting Petry, but the question would be if DD would lean heavy on 3 guys and tire them further or would he roll 3 pairs. If he would roll 3 pairs, I would be totally fine with Petry sitting. If he would lean on 3, it’s better for the team if Petry is playing.

Dumb play by Anderson. Don’t need to be adding fuel to the fire at this point.

He would be more effective if he didn’t throw the puck at the net from the goal line constantly and instead parked himself in his usual spot. A lingering injury may explain it.

Very boring game so far. I’m not saying that as a bad thing, I just expected more emotion. Might it be the schedule is catching up to the Habs? This really is their game to lose.

He's a PP specialist for the Habs. The real question is does he add anything that a forward in his spot on the PP doesn't? If not Romanov would be more suited maybe? He's far for the best defenseman the Habs can throw out there, but better than Gustafsson in his own end.

I would add Montreal had the more dangerous chances.

Other than the Staal line, the other 3 aren’t looking great. The Anderson line looks the worse to me so far.

While you're right Gustafsson did give the puck away that lead to the goal, it wasn't totally his fault. He passed to 2 players, including Caufield, that refused to shoot the puck. I would expect Caufield in that one-timer spot to crank it, as did Gustafsson, instead of passing it back. They got caught overpassing and Gustafsson was on the wrong end of a bad play because of it. Not absolving him of the turnover, just putting it into context.

I said since the start if the Habs can eliminate Toronto, the Jets could sweep them and I would be happy.

Good luck trying to convince a NHL player to stay out of the playoffs for a headache. These are players that take regular painkiller injections to avoid missing time. This isn't soccer.

It would all fall apart if the victim returned before the offender.
