Like it or not, PK Subban is treated differently than other NHL players, especially when it comes to the old boys network. Brianne Spiker examines why, and mentions the elephant in the room that no one else seems to want to talk about. http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/25/pk-subban-held-different-standard-everyone-else-ok/ What do you think.... how much does subtle racism play a part here?

If Gregoire makes it, its as a player on the defensive line.

The winner of this year's Michael McCarron/Tyler Biggs award. The man who will be picked way too high because of MOAR BIG and TRUCULENCE but is really a third round project at best. #72 Hunter Smith… http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/22/2014-nhl-draft-profile-72-hunter-smith/

There were no reports on Gregoire or Thrower.

I'd take Virtanen of the two, just saying that they are in the same range.... we know that Bergevin has a very specific target, we just don't know who.

HockeyProspect.com has their black book out now. Sometimes at the back they have reports on individual games and their scouts will include already drafted players in them. Here are some reports on our prospects from it. "SBY #77 Crisp, Connor (Montreal) - Connor came to the defense of his teammate Evan de Haan after he got absolutely leveled with a clean hit by Alex Renaud. Crisp picked a fight with the smaller, younger Renaud and destroyed him pretty bad landing several huge punches. In addition to the fight, Crisp was effective throughout the game showing very well in battles along the wall and finishes his checks hard. Crisp is built huge and makes his presence known physically at every opportunity, but also showed a pretty good shot as well." "LON #24 RW McCarron, Michael (Montreal) - Michael struggled with the puck today getting knocked around by much smaller players and lacks the speed or puck protection to maintain puck control for long periods of time." "CHI #10 RW, Hudon, Charles (2012 Montreal draft pick) I really liked his play in the neutral zone. The passes he made and his positioning were a big part of his game. He broke up plenty of plays and he was great on the powerplay. He liked to get under Jerome Verrier's skin, as he always had something to say to him after the whistle. His slap shot from the point isn't overly heavy, but it’s accurate. He made some nice changes of direction, as well, in order to create passing lanes. It was a typical game coming out of him." "SLO #10 RW, Reway, Martin (2013 Montreal Canadiens draft pick) Reway is an east-west forward that can turn on a dime. I really like his shiftiness and his puck control in the offensive zone. He looked like a wizard, especially in the first period. He showcased a good sense of anticipation early on. He was quite noticeable in the first period as he was the most dangerous offensive threat for his team. Had a goal on a powerplay and another late in the third when he took a shot on his backhand after he received a pass from David Griger. He still shies away from physical play."

Yes it would be expensive. I'm just pointing out the players he might be after i we think its a Power forward he wants. If its a defenceman, its likely Haydn Fleury in the same range as Virtanen.

#70 is Christian Dvorak http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/20/2014-nhl-draft-profile-70-christian-dvorak/ Ritchie (top 8) Virtanen (top 12) Tuch (top 15) Would all fit the Habs needs in the trade up category.

One of the site commentators did a huge amount of statistical work on this draft and submitted an article about it (I asked him to be a regular writer, but he doesn't have the time). Anyways today he takes a look at PPG, GPG, EV strength production, strength of team, and other factors in a prospects draft year and the success it correlates to in the NHL. Also includes 2015 Eligibles to try and predict their potential success. He looks at the WHL & OHL. http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/19/nhl-draft-statistics-ohl-whl-big-board/ Also today my next prospect Ondrej Kase from the Czech Republic. http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/19/nhl-draft-profile-69-ondrej-kase/

It was more than the ankle injury. Ankle injuries don't last two years.

This trade was made because he needs waivers to go to the minors next season, and the Habs obviously see no future in a guy who played well in December and then was awful the second half of the year. Here is the team press release. http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/14/canadiens-trade-louis-leblanc-anaheim-ducks/

They always do. That USNTDP program is producing defencemen like crazy. Canada is producing a lot of D too of course, but ours are spread out over more teams so it doesn't get the same. When I watch a USNTDP team I can't take a shift off... even their third pairing D, and third/fourth liners you gotta watch, its an all-star team of american 17 or 18 year olds. ..... That said #66 is a Canadian Goalie. http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/14/2014-nhl-draft-profile-66-mason-mcdonald/

Spezza apparently wants out of ottawa because he doesn't like being blamed when the team loses. Yeah, Montreal is not gonna work.
