  1. I have serious doubts they can get out of the first round against a Metro opponent. I think they can beat the Panthers or the Leafs and are going to have a long, brutal series against Boston or Ottawa. This team's window shut last year. Plekanec and Markov were big time pieces, and they haven't been replaced. Might be better for them to crash and burn and rebuild around Sergachev, Galchenyuk, and Charlie Lindgren to be honest. Weber looks like shit already.
  2. Every year besides the Vanek year, I've smoked Bergevin's ass over an open fire after the deadline. I know it's disappointing, but I think this was the one year that nobody was available. It's really not a question of cost, imo. They might not have the pieces to get the big fish out of the Colorado, or perhaps, those players are just Yetis in an Avalanche? Sakic has one card left and then he'll probably get the gate. He's going to drag it out. The only guy I can come up with that would have really helped them was Vanek, and it's possible that they soured on him or vice versa. I can't think of another time a team got the same player at the deadline twice. (Moore, Metropolit, Stempniak might be candidates).
  3. Maybe it's the fruits of a post-breakup text fight?
  4. This is my thinking, and I'm no MB apologist. None of the teams dramatically improved. Shattenkirk and Hanzal were the big prizes, and they're complementary players. I don't think there was a piece available to make the team improve. That's not to defend Bergevin, either. This roster, as constructed, has serious issues five seasons into a rebuild. After five years, you can't have three top-6 forwards. (Gallagher isn't one).
  5. Does anybody know why Vrbata didn't move for the second year in a row?
  6. Martinsen might surprise us. He could be Julien's next Danny Paille.
  7. Martinsen is very fast and hits. Upgrade from Smurfrighetto
  8. Those eight goals must have made Bergevin nervous. Anything over five is a liability. Still a few hours left in the #sheahansweepstakes stare down...
  9. Three goals this year. Bergevin had to get him when the scouts told him this stat. He's still chasing Riley Sheahan and his 0 mouthwatering goals.
  10. Horrible trade! EDIT: Some DB Panthers media hack RT'd a fake Big Head Bob account! God I hate the internet!
  11. You would think something else is coming if they took on another cap hit.
  12. Encouraging game. Good teams can win games when they don't have a great night.
  13. Again. 3-1 playing a team benching regulars ahead of the deadline. Bunch of scrubs. Fire everyone.
  14. Time for Julien BrisBois. Good enough for two capital letters in his last name, good enough for the Habs, I would take Pateryn's wife with Tony Marinaro as coach over MT/MB.
  15. We can't score a goal against a team that's scratching a player to make a trade on Wednesday.
  16. Shea should start working now on his offseason double chin. I figured out a way to describe N8's style of defense: Manic Pixie Dreamgirl
  17. I'm watching the NJ feed on the Free Game of the Night, and wow, you know your team sucks when they have a screengrab/stats up for the OHL player of the week. Who the hell cares? Not the 35 people in the stands.
  18. I bet they were in on Teemu Pulkinnen. 0 points in 16 games is right on the money. However, they can still win the Riley Sheahan Sweepstakes. They'll have to beat out Toronto, but he has a mouthwatering 0 goals in 59 games.
  19. Thread title should have been "Habs Add Scoring, Trade for Jordie Benn." After all, two goals in 58 games is an upgrade on the third lines. I wonder how much time these tiny deals take Bergevin?
