  1. He is an odd case. His numbers have really regressed 2012-13 46 gp 8 g 22 a (projects over a full season to almost double) 2013-24 69 gp 11g 12 a Imagine the team if Eller regularly put up numbers at his 2012-13 pace. I think everyone would be happy if over a full season Eller could be relied on for 15 g 35 a , strong at the dot and responsible defensively. I definitely think MB is going to make him an offer and coming off a season like this it will be pretty reasonable. If this year turns out to be a blip and he returns to last years pace, 3 years at 5 mill total could be one of the better contracts in the NHL.
  2. I know, you raise a really good point. I dont remember where I heard that but I seem to remember it being from someone in the media, possibly McGuire.
  3. apparently you can go get the hat back after the game
  4. He did come back to play quite the game but that shoulder hasent been right for a while. Any word on what the nature of the injury is?
  5. I guess it did look like Emelin scored but watching on TV you knew that Vanek got it just from the extra emphasis on the fist pump, definitely claiming it.
  6. I was hoping Vanek could get a 4 into the empty net. Did anyone even through a single hat on the ice?
  7. I though the Avs would fade too and I didnt consider Varlamov to be a particular strength in goal but with Roy as coach it was pretty foolish of me in hindsight no to figure that goaltending would be a strong suit. I know the colorado D is mostly a bunch on no name except Johnson but McGuire was saying they re a seriously underrated bunch. Should be a great game, fingers crossed for Vanek.
  8. Eller is reminding me of Benoit Poulliot
  9. Its definitely a tough situation, DD has been putting up some good numbers and although he still isnt great his defensive game has improved. Gallagher certainly isnt going anywhere and if Geo walks we still have to replace 20g and 20a from a guy who is defensivly responsible and is a beast of a competitor, and does a lot of the little things teams need to win. Briere would probably be tought to move but as of late hasnt been terrible. all that said we do need to get bigger, its going to be an interesting off season.
  10. Can't wait to see how the boys come out after last night, hopefully we can win comfortably against the lowly Sabres. I hope Vanek gets a goal, players are usually extra motivated to play former teams.
  11. D pairings are odd, it does not seem to make sense that a Norris winner is playing with bouillion. Id do Markov Subban Emelin Weaver Weaver is a smart strong defender and I think he an Emelin would be a pain in the ass for any line to play against, especially when they re both playing on their natural sides. So much for MT being patient with the Vanek Plek combo as he said he would but it will at least be interesting to see how the staked top line will do and Briere does seem to be at his best with Plek and Geo. If the EGG line gets going this team could put up some points.
  12. I can understand this strategy. Right after a team scores they are likely to face a strong push back right away. I would argue that giving up a goal on the shift after you score one is more momentum changing and demoralizing then simply giving up a bad goal at a random time during the game. So if Claude Julien sends Thornton out after every goal the B s score he simply is trying not to give back the goal right away.
  13. I wish he would answer questions about this from the media, but I feel like that is one of his dont go there subjects.
  14. if every Hab had the heart of Gallagher they would be the best team in the NHL
  15. I want to see Galchenyuk in Geo's spot, we need an offensive spark!
  16. I still have faith that Emelin will return to pre-injury form. Speaking from personal experience, the injury he suffered was a major one and realistically it does take a significant amount of time to recover from. Its not just about becoming physically healthy. You have to consider the big chunk of hockey time that he missed as well as the mental factor. I'd give him till next November/ December before starting to worry about him too much.
  17. Well, the habs werent very good that period and Budds made a terrible mistake but hey a one goal game is still within reach. I hope the habs have a really big second period cause I have a feeling the fatigue is going to creep in in the third. I though Weaver looked better than Emelin in the 1st.
  18. Positive vibes going his way.
  19. Just trying to judge where people are, who here would be comfortable giving Vanek 7.5 per for 7 years? Personally, I would rather give him 8 per for 5 years.
  20. Is it confirmed that the 2nd is conditional on Mtl making the playoffs and can never be a 1st even if he is resigned?
