  1. Dont give him 5M a year, he definetly doesnt deserve it. That would be really overpaying him, the guy had one GOOD season, not an excellent one and hes too often injured. Hes not exactly a good captain either. I love the guy but if theo got 5M after a hart trophy, then Koivu shouldnt get the same money for a first time 71 points. 4M max, he cant even go against the best center in the league and lets be realistic, its not always the wingers fault. If Koivu tries the comparables, he will never get his 5M because alot of better players arent getting it.
  2. I loved this years draft, We got a future superstar gamebreaker, we got quebecers with skill, we added size in the middle, we might have gotten a hidden gem in O'byrne and we took a chance on Locke. I really like the chance on Urquhart, hes big and when he wants he can dominate. Lapierre is very intense and has the size, just needs to fill up. O'Byrne is my favorite, huge and a lot of people are saying he might be a hidden gem, management is very high on him but they consider him a project(kinda like Perezhogin used to be). I trust theyll make him a terrific defensemen cause hes got a mean streak to boot. BTW: Kastsitsyn: RW who can play both sides Perezhogin: RW who can play both sides, very capable defensively. SO: Perezhogin-Koivu-Kastsitsyn Hossa-Higgins-Zednik Bulis-Lapierre-Ward Dwyer-Kilger-Ryder Hainsey-Komisarek Markov-Beauchemin(both RD and LD) Souray-O'Byrne Theodore Garon Size, grit, intensity, talent, french players, love it.
  3. What a smart line, only RWs(even though Kovalev and Bure can play some LW). Anyway, I doubt very much that we wont see more youngsters next year, if we dont then were regressing and the upper management is very high on its youngsters right now. Just look at Madden before he left, or Trevor Timmins, or Andre Savard. How can you play someone like Dykhuis but not Komisarek, how can you play Sh!tcowski instead of Hossa, it doesnt make sense, Hossas got way more upside. I mean how can play Reverse instead of a probably more mature Hainsey(big talk during playoffs, rebounded very well). Next year well start seeing more rookies and the year after, all the contracts expire and THEN well be back to being a good team.
  4. Chris Dyment is a Minnesota wild, we traded him for a third or fourth round pick. I see no way of us getting Horton, Zherdev, Vanek, Michalek, Coburn or Staal. These players just cannot fall so much. Katsitsyn and Jessiman would also be great choices, they are sleepers and Katsitsyn is the best offensive player in the draft(better then Zherdev) but his potential back problems mixed with his epilepsy will probably make him an LA pick since they have 3 picks and can afford to make a gamble. But Andrei has enormous talent and a lot of desire, id be very happy with him. On Defense the player Id like more is Coburn, he is an unbelievable defensemen with Bouwmeester skating. Plus hes got a mean streak. Anyway anyone in the top 60 can become superstars so this is the most important draft in recent history. Savard MUST outwitt everyone because we can potentially get 3 franchise players with our 3 1-2 round picks.
  5. Beauchemin can play both sides. And Habs 77, sorry but that makes no sense. When a good player whos developping wells contract expires, you sign him for that reason, not because you want to trade someone else or you are skeptic about a player. Beauchemin was a solid defensemen who made a lot of progress, they werent gonna let him go, his contract wont be huge.
  6. Hossa's got a lot of tools, he just needs intensity. Id be much happier seeing Ribeiro and Brisebois go then Hossa. I think Ribeiro and Brisebois are the perfect trade bait for another first rounder. We should go ahead and trade them while theyre value is acceptable.
  7. What I ABSOLUTLY want at the draft: Montreal 10th pick: Do everything to get Parise, move up a few spots if needed with 4th to 9th round picks like last year with Higgins. Try and get another 1st rounder: Tradeable assets with value: 2 2nd round picks, Ribeiro, Perreault, Brisebois+any other pick. draft Bernier We obviously lose a 2nd rounder( I hope not thought), but we pick up a defensemen with the other. That would give us a real good prospect core with everything.
  8. Bernier is a complete package and Andre Savard wants him. Ive been hearing AS wants another first rounder so he can get both Parise and Bernier. Bernier can play all types of game but hes inconsistent. Sometimes he looks like Rick Nash, other times he looks like Chad Kilger ^^.
  9. Getzlaf is grit more then skill, I feel wed be waisting our 10th pick if we chose him. Id much rather have Parise who I think well be the steal of the draft.
  10. Centres Koivu Ribeiro Bulis Higgins Hossa Juneau Kilger Perreault Gratton Left Wingers Zednik Bulis Hossa Ryder Kilger Dwyer Right Wingers Zednik Ward Perezhogin Audette Sundstrom Ryder Dackell RD Rivet Komisarek Brisebois Quintal LD Markov Hainsey Quintal Souray Beauchemin Dykhuis Bouillon Traverse Goalies Theodore Garon I personnally dont think we need help in a lot of areas, in fact let me dare say were OK. We all know well go only as far as Theodore, so why not play the kids since alot of them are ready or close. Remember '86 everyone. Higgins and Perezhogin: Fast, Defensively responsible, strong on skates, near 200 Pounds, near 6', good hands, good playmaking, good shot. Perezhogin played very good on a 4th line in the 2nd strongest league in the world, he was even named to the nationnal team but was sick. Higgins simply dominated college and is a very mature player. Look for them to have impressive camps. Id put my money on Perezhogin though.
  11. The thing about getting rid of everything Houle/Corey brought in doesnt make much sense because Ward, Ryder, Hossa, Hainsey, Balej and Garon(???) are still with the team and are very well placed in the depth chart. Its good that they get rid of the scouts who messed up so many 1st round picks.
  12. http://www.faceoff.com/nhl/teams/canadiens...524/271783.html thats pretty impressive, and thats not counting Perezhogin and Higgins, who are two of our top3 propspects. :ghg: It'll be a nice mix of youngsters and prime players next year if we bench the deadwood.
  13. GIVE ME ONE REASON! He is small, he is weak, he is slow, he floats, he doenst try, he sucks defensively, he relies on his wingers way to much, he plays like a winger with no speed or grit, he has no playmaking abilities, he costs 3M, he plays on the 4th line, he doenst have leadership qualities that goes with being a veteran, hes one year away from being a UFA.
  14. What I like most about Bulis is his skating, especially during the end of the year. He has an exeptionnal fluid skating technique, add that to his size and his potential skills and you got a great 2nd liner. We have Ward and Sundstrom for the 3rd line wing duty.
  15. I would personnally really really like the Habs to get Staal, hes much more talented then any of our current players and any of the other players in the draft. Why be happy with Bernier when you can potentially have much better? Staal could be the next Modano and I know a lot of GMs would pay a good price for Modano.
