  1. That is about 5 too many for my liking. 10 Euros and 7 Quebecois..
  2. I'm surprised they cut Hainsey. It may have had something to do with the contract that Streit signed which allegedly gauranteed him 30 NHL games. If that is true it sucks. There was nothing in Streit's training camp and exhibition play to suggest that he won the job outright.
  3. Hainsey will be fine. He will push Bouillon out of town before too long.
  4. Worst on the team. He had only 1 point despite getting a fair amount of playing time. I can't see how he would have earned a spot.
  5. Latendresse lasted longer than all but 2 or 3 first round picks. Bourdon was also sent down on Sunday. Brule, Bergfors and Crosby all played on Sunday, but I think the first two will be cut tomorrow.
  6. ..for marketing purposes. He would have gone down with Chipchura and Price except for the fact that he was causing a buzz with the local fans. So they wanted to squeeze every last ticket out of that before they sent him back to Drummondville. That is happening all round the league, teams hang on to some high profile kid and talk him up in the press just to get some attention with the local fan base. Often times that is the best return they ever get on thier investment. A year or two later, the kid is overshadowed by the next "great thing" and few care how he does. So unless the player becomes a star, their marketing value is never as great as it was right after they were drafted. Look at Kostitsyn. A year ago he was all the rage. This season, no one said too much, a year from now, he will be forgotten in all likelyhood.
  7. Well, he outlasted Ryan and Pouliot....
  8. Carey Price is the best goaltending prospect to come along in a couple of decades. He is so calm. That is the problem with players like Fleury, Leclaire, Lapointe, they don't have the right psychological balance. Lehtonen, Toivenen, Ward seem to have it, but I think that Price is a better athlete.
  9. I think they want to see if he can do the same on the road. But seriously, I think his chances of sticking are about 10%.
  10. I can't see how this deal means anything as far as Latendresse is concerned. He is going back to juniors and that will be better for him and the team.
  11. This deal has nothing to do with Latendresse. The team was 4 or 5 players over the limit, and I still think that Vandermeer, Higgins, Plekanec and probably Perezhogin are still ahead of Latendresse.
  12. "Doh!!!" is all I expect from you kaos, but maybe someone with a brain can explain why Gainey has signed Vandermeer, Aitken, Paul, and now Garth Murray?
  13. The way he is collecting Canadian goons who can't skate or handle the puck, I think Bob must have missed the message.
  14. Trade of a self centred and not very bright Euro for a small town Prairie grunt. At least now we know what we will get for Kostitsyn when they give up on him.:eyes: [Edited on 2005/9/30 by beckham]
  15. Wow, I didn't think they could find anyone out there that looked dumber than Hossa, but they managed. Murray looks like an extra from Slapshot.

Huet is going to be out half a season, more or less. Even then there is no gaurantee that he will come back effectively. The team would have to be very lucky over that period to only have to use Danis half a dozen times. That is assuming Theodore stays healthy and doesn't hit a bad slump. I have 0 confidence in Danis as an NHL goaltender. The team is going to need every point to make the playoffs, and even dropping 4 points due to shaky netminding could prove to be disastrous. If Danis had to play 10 or more games in the first half, losing 4 points as a result is a very real possibility. So is losing a few more points if they have to put a rusty Huet in once he returns. Even if Theodore stays healthy and they are forced to use him for nearly every regular season game, that could cost them in the playoffs if he wears down. He isn't a particularly big or strong player.
  19. I doubt they want to play half a season with Theodore and Danis as the top two. My bet is that they deal a skater for a goaltender. Hainsey is a lock. They aren't going to give up on him after all they invested. Not without a significant return in any event. They won't keep all the small forwards...ie Higgins, Plekanec, Perezhogin, Begin. Two of them at the most.
  20. The Americans will beat both countries 8 years from now.
  21. Well at least we know you're a "crap" expert. Houle left A.Savard with 5 or 6 extra draft picks when he turned over the reins. Also, it was Corey who hired Trembley, not Houle. Trembley and Houle were hired at the same time since both jobs were vacant. Get your facts straight before you pop off.
  22. Bruins won 5-2. Theodore crapped the bed, letting in 4 goals on 28 shots. Carey Price will finish with the best record in preseason of the goaltenders. Call him back!
  23. Pretty well all the prospects who have played in recent times, aside from Komisarek, were drafted by Houle.
  24. I don't think that Perezhogin has the pure skill level to offset his lack of size and physical game. Even in the new NHL I think he is borderline. All those people who had he and Kostitsyn at the top of their prospect lists must be feeling a bit sheepish now.
