Grrrr...Comcast!!! Center Ice isn't working here!!!!!! -
Been around for a while, but still the ripe ol' age of 34. (As of last Friday the 19th). My biggest Habs claim to fame (other than being a rabid fan) is going to every playoff/Cup game in '93...and I have the ticket stubs to prove it! Seems strange that I first met puck around 5 years ago now!!

I agree...Eklund on his site was very honest about the sources of this rumour. Yet another fan claiming media as a "source" for a rumour. Sheesh...

Might be showin' my age, but where the hell is Rush?? Prob the best prog rock trio of all time. Even Rutsey was a good drummer before Peart joined the band and changed them (obviously) for the better. even groups like Genesis (when PG was lead singer...they were considered art-prog rock in the early 70s) makes way as a masterful super-group. I'd remove Aerosmith, AC/DC, Doors (trip band...not a "great" rock band), Floyd (acid bank, even though they're one of my faves), Zep (over-hyped as the "greatest" rock band ever...BLEAH!!!!!!!), and to be honest I never much cared for the Beatles...the precursor to the "boy band" although much more skilled. Queen...(Freddy Mercury had an amazing voice, and Brian May a very good guitarist), the Stones (great songwriters), the Who (Townshend a great showman and Moon the craziest percussionist to live..and die) are the best of the rest. Personally, as is obvious, I'm a Rush fan...awesome bass, guitar, and percussion. Haven't seen a better live show yet. [Edited on 2005/8/29 by huzer]

I've got no problem with the Habs adding Bondra, although the odds of that are about zero. I always thought he did a great job on the point whil on the power play. I still don't think Gainey is going to stuff 5 or 6 rookies in there as people keep thinking. I'll be stunned if Plekanec, Higgins, Perezhogin, Kostitsyn, (even Hossa though not technically a rookie), Hainsey, Komisarek (not a rookie but still learning the ropes), Streit, etc... While I want to play the kids as much as the next guy, we can't field them all, mistakes will come. It's as if we're on the HF boards or something...
-
Never really heard of Streit, but hopefully he does well. As far as Swiss league stats go, don't forget Oleg Petrov led that league in scoring a few times.
-
Glad Markov is back in the fold and not staying in Russia. Kudos to BG for getting him to play in Montreal for a decent salary!
-
Hossa was signed a while back, Aug 15th. Same day as Koivu, so maybe that's why you didn't remember it. http://www.canadiens.com/eng/news/redirect...wsItemID=4304:)

It'd be sweet if they did high altitude camp (I know not this year) but in the coming years. When they had it at Vail a few years ago, I went and snapped some pictures, met most of the players. Being out of the spotlight of Montreal had a lot of the players really relaxed. I think puck even saw me on TV while RDS (or TSN) was interviewing new draft pick Mike Komisarek.
-
It's not a trade. The team currently owning the rights to the player has the opportunity to match the offer to a restricted free agent, or accept the draft picks (as outlined, not negotiable) as compensation.
-
Yes, Koivu was injured to start the '03 season.
-
Hopefully Hossa's year in Europe did wonders for his confidence. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hehe...found an old game log from a game that I wrote a summary for HW. Here were the lines for the game against the Pens (I'm too lazy to try and figure out the date, October '03): Bulis-Juneau-Dackell Hossa-Ribeiro-Zednik Ryder-Perreault-Audette Sundstrom-Begin-Ward I definitely think the Habs lineup has improved since then! PS: Habs won 4-1, Ward, Zednik, Ribs, and Markov were the Habs goal scorers. Lemieux had his 67th career pt against the Habs with an assist on Straka's PP goal.

The Lindros lover appears! How's it going? Glad to see you around again. Maybe I'll draft and trade him to you in SK4! Hehe.

I'd be in...

This is an age old question that applies to every job, not just sports where salaries tend to be public domain. I know at my job, I do the same thing as the 20 other people, and we all make different amounts of money. I know $400k to $3.5M is a huge difference, but I think players, while there will be some resentment, realize that a fact of life is in any career field, people will not make the same amount of money.

habs signed Peter Vandermeer last tuesday!!!
huzer replied to bebehabs's topic in Habs & Hockey Talk
Uh, Begin isn't around to babysit anyone in Hamilton. -
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I wouldn't want to add Stumpel either, to be honest. Just was mentioning that those other three are all wingers.
-
Considering neither of the three mentioned players are Cs, which Stumpel is, I don't see how acquiring Stumpel would prevent them from playing. Sure Hossa has been a center, but the Habs have put him on the wing. As much as I've defended Dags in the past, I'm still not thrilled with him as a 2nd line player.
-
Hamrlik is a UFA, so he'd just have to sign him.

Woohoo! Welcome back, HW!
-
So a couple of splashes today for the Habs. Kinda cool that they're finally in the news! Hehe. Go Gainey!
-
The Habs biggest needs (IMO) are both a winger and a solid dman. I'm not as trigger happy as some folks, but I would like to see something happen with the Habs at some point. Dandy (who was rumored a couple of years ago as well) and Vandermeer just aren't tickling my twine.

Who did the Habs take in what would have been your draft year?

Yup, just saw the Lebeau and typed without thinkin'. D'oh!
