  1. From Code: Source: Marleau Talks Heating Up. A source close to ITC is reporting that talks for Sharks Forward Patrick Marleau are really heating up. As reported by ITC a few weeks back, the Sharks are listening to offers for Marleau. There's also been chatter that Marleau would like to get traded. Teams that are looking to bring in Marleau are the Oilers, Habs, and Wings. ITC has also been told that the Sharks would like a package back, as to the one the Oilers received for Chris Pronger. ITC will be getting into more details about this topic on SportsNations.com Let me also mention that the Blues are also involved, but wouldn't receive Marleau, but would be part of a three way trade. I'll be in the Insider Forum talking about this on SportsNations.com. I'll also hold a chat at 3:30pm, so come join in. Code P.S.- On the Habs. The Habs are talking to Wooley's agent, but a source close to ITC reports that Wooley is only a back-up plan. The Habs tried to grab Stuart from the Bruins but were rejected. They are also interested in Rangers defensemen Michael Roszival, as are the Oilers. The Oilers are also interested in Stuart. from the chat: 1) The Habs made an offer yesterday for Marleau...the Blues are trying to get involved in a three way, but I have no idea who would go to the Blues. I know that the Blues would send Jackman to the Sharks. The Habs would receive Marleau, but I don';t have a damn clue who the Blues would get back. 2) I think Gainey knows he's going to have to give up a lot for Briere, so he's turned his focus over to the Devils and the Sharks. Gainey likes Gomez, and has made offers for him, but the Devils want Higgins in the deal. That about says it all.
  2. interesting, either Gainey has no faith in Streit and Cote or someone is on their way out. Woolley could be a back plan if the Habs lose more than Bouillion to injury as well.
  3. Seems to be a busy day on the rumour front...here is the latest from Code (involving the Habs) 1) The Habs have had interested in Gomez for a long time, but they are going after Briere and Marleau. They also have Lang as their back-up plan. 2) The Habs are in talks with a few teams. I posted above the following players they are looking at. All the other stuff, that's just other "bloggers" just making stuff up to get Habs fans to come visit their site. It's extremely hard to get anything from the Habs front office. I did recently get a really great Habs source who is really close to the front office, so when I read the stuff reported, and asked about it, the person just laughs it off as an (e1). 3) It does. Remember, the Canucks aren't the only team after Gagne. Even though they are the frontrunners for Gagne, being that the Flyers would like to land Naslund, the Habs are interested in him and so are the Caps. 4) With the Habs, they come out of nowhere and land big time players, so I'm not going to put percents on it. I'll say this though. They have as good as chance as any of the other teams looking to land them. 5) *Surprise with regards to the 3-way trade rumour involving the Habs/Devils/Canucks..."No truth to this rumor. Someone felt like playing fantasy hockey and posted it." 6) They Devils rather trade off Gionta than keep Gomez. Just remember that. Are the Habs interested. Of course, just like the rest of the teams out there. But they aren't going after him. 7) Regarding the fact that Gainey and Carb said they would not make any changes..."The Habs aren't going to tell anyone what they are doing. Just like every other GM, they'll give you the default answer to your questions." 8) Buffalo wants a lot for Briere. They want a package in the likes of what the Oilers got for Pronger. The Sabres always pull this move. The Sharks want a top 2 defensemen in return for Marleau. Lou just wants young NHL ready players who don't cost a lot. 9) The Caps are interested in Bonk, so it wouldn't be hard to dump him if the Habs land a top center. I will edit post if anything else comes up.
  4. Eklund added a bit to the Habs Devils rumour today: "Trade rumors continue to swirl around the Devils and Habs. One source said it this way, "The word is that Carbs feels the team needs a face, and a leadership core. There is a feeling that Gionta could be a part of that, and the Devils may also be intersted in Aebischer."
  5. Salo is a great d-man IMO. Logs 24 min/game and is good for 30-40 pts a year.
  6. here is another one for you. A proposal has been made between the 3 teams. Gainey has approved the trade. So have the Nucks. Waiting on word from Lou of this is going down... Montreal would get... Ryan Kesler, Sami Salo, Ivan Khomutov Vancouver would get Brian Gionta, Sheldon Souray, Alex Mogilny Jersey gets Michael Grabner, Juraj Mikus, Maxim Lapierre. Vancouver would have to follow this by making deals to get under the cap. Jersey gets 2 good prospects and Lapierre who would crack their line-up this year. Montreal gets a good centreman, a good defenceman, and a prospect. This is a DONE DEAL if Lou says yes.
  7. lol, good idea...I have already burned a couple...this one was good until this post.
  8. Ok, I am not the best at reading french and google makes a mess of it (maybe someone else could clarify) but "sly" at: http://montrealhabstrade.blogspot.com/ has these rumours. Please take with a grain of salt. These are all over the board. The Habs are concerned about Koivu and are desperately trying to secure a replacement. They are anxious to see how Grabovsky makes out and if he is capable of playing in the NHL this year. He could centre Kovalev and Samsonov with Ribs between Ryder and Higgins. If Grabovsky and Koivu do not pan out then worst case scenario is having Kovavlev turning to centre between Samsonov and Perezhogin/Latendresse. Gainey is really working the phones and has made offers to SJ and Toronto! Gainey has offered Souray, Ryder, Plekanec & Kostitsyn for Marleau and Bell. If accepted, then Gainey also signs Leetch. Gainey has also offered Toronto (this one blows my mind)...Rivet, Ryder, Huet and Chipchura for Sundin and a 2nd round pick. The Habs have also made offers to Philadelphia for Gagne but Gainey prefers a centre. the rumoured offers to Philly are: Montreal has offered Souray, Ryder and Chipchura for Gagne and a 2nd round pick. Philly wants Ryder + Perezhogin or Emelin + Higgins for Gagne. ( not sure this is accurate translation) or Markov, Ryder and Price for Gagne and Pitkanen.
  9. Only 58 Quebec born players in NHL last year and dropping. It's pretty hard to blame the Habs for not having enough when the league averages less than 2 per team. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/article.jsp...905_155353_1068
  10. Eklund is reporting of a trade talks between Montreal and New Jersey in a deal that may include a third team. From Eklund "I will be doing a chat at 4pm, but here are some crazy circulating rumors this morning.... ...The Canadiens are talking to the Devils and a third team (non-Canadian) in a deal that could really open things up for both sides...information is really hard to come by."
  11. Here ia video for this season from the same guy. I love the last picture and hope to see the same guys bring us back the cup.
  12. I made the draft late because many of the unknowns (players signing, injuries etc) would have made themselves clearer. I had to book the time/date and the weekends were already reserved as well as most evenings. We can bump it up if people wish and hope players don't get injured during camp?
  13. yeah, there had to be somthing up. I also read on spectors that it is believed that Savard and Timmins also dis-agreed about drafting Price instead of Stall...and that Gainey agreed with Timmins instead.
  14. great guys, that makes 5 so far.

  19. I like the sound of Neilson. Former bodyguard of Crosby in Rimouski.
  20. he has a new one at sportnations. you will need to register (for free) but don't fall for the scam to buy an insider mebership. He has the occasional public chat that is called the cowbell report. It is under the NHL trades and rumours section. He announces when the public chats take place on the Inside the Code website. http://www.sportsnations.com/ http://insidethecode.blogspot.com/
  21. No Fischer...I take it that it would conflict with US college restrictions?
  22. Rumours of the day. Habs continue to pursue Briere but Phoenix is now in the mix. (Code) Daze has not yet accepted the try-out as he is weighing his options. i.e. if someone will sign him (Code) Washington is interested in Grabovsky and are willing to part with Mike Green to get him. (Sly) Habs are talking to Nashville about Legwand. The Habs are offering a prospect and would also like to pry Teemu Laakso from them. Nashville wants a goaltender prospect. (guy by the name of No B.S.?)...this contradicts Code who is saying the Preds are shopping Hartnell. Also Nashville has a great golatending prospect in Rinne...
  23. According to The Code... Daze has been offered a try-out with the Habs. If true, we will see how he looks in camp.
  24. RDS is saying Dumont should be a Predator soon. It is believed they have reached a contract agreement.
