  1. He won't do anything that game. We had two games close together with LA and he turtled from Lappy both times. And I just remembered, we play the Kings again tonight. Maybe we can finally unleash Lappy on him. Sic 'em, boy!
  2. Yeah, that 2nd half killed us though. Choked, imploded, gagged on the chance. Still, I'll take the home playoff loss over a 4-14 season. I think Lewis got humbled yesterday too which should be good for the kid. Watch out for the Stamps next year thought, we've still got an awesome team and the hunger over this loss will only make us better.
  3. A couple of comments on the 'wooden stick' issue. I don't understand why more players don't use the wooden stick as compared to that other one that breaks so often. It may have more flexibility but if, in the end, you can't be sure that the thing will stay in one piece for you then what the heck? I don't understand why players don't use flatter blades (less curve). It would give them much more accuracy on their back passes and give them a much more deadly backhand shot. But then again, I teach Kindergarten... I'm hardly in the know about those things... :eyes: I agree. I don't know how many times I've seen a player miss an empty net because his stick broke. Has it happened during a shootout yet? And straighter blades can also add a lot more speed to back passes so you would see some quicker plays.
  4. I hope the Flames do the same for him. Classy guy.
  5. Uh, if thats the case then where was McCabe for the World Cup? I remember the huge outrage from Leaf fans that McCabe wasn't even considered for the team. Team management said they went with who they thought was the best and McCabe wasn't in that group. McCabe had a horrible playoffs, espically against Philly, so Quinn didn't have any excuse to have him on. Now that he's put up some points, Quinn can wesael him onto the team. Same with Cujo, he's a .500 goalie but that maybe enough for someone of Gretzky's class to get him on the team. Just watch. Theodore could have better #'s than Cujo, yet he prolly won't make the team. They're not interested in whats best for Canada, it's whats best for their ego. Why do you think Joseph was going to be the starter in Salt Lake? [Edited on 2005/11/10 by Leafs Suck] Yeah, you've got a point on McCabe (I forgot about that series, I think he made like...2 or 3 colossal mistakes) but I don't think Wayne will do that with Joseph. He's been mediocre all season and some heads will definitely be raised if he is named to the team. I still think Brodeur, Theodore and Turco go to Turin for Canada. Ok...just read some of the other posts, I've got one question. Whats up with all the hate for Gretzky? I've always liked him... [Edited on 2005/11/11 by jetsniper]
  6. I'm sure the NHL will keep reminding her to do it. I could see it bringing in fans. Proud to be from the same city as that hottie too:D Technically, she was born in Three Hills but thats like...a 30 minute drive away. If that. I wonder if they'll get any other celebs to do a hockey blog. I know Dennis Leary is a big fan, his would be hilarious. Thanks for passin it on, Fanpuck!

  8. Not sure how many people here watch the CFL but the season is officially over. Final Standings are: B.C Calgary Edmonton Saskatchewan Winnipeg Toronto Montreal Ottawa Hamilton What a game today at McMahon, I think every game between Edmonton and Calgary this year has been classic. I can't wait to sit in the frigid cold next weekend at McMahon cheering on the boys. So my playoff predictions would have to look like... Calgary beats Edmonton 31-20 Montreal beats Saskatchewan 35-10 Calgary beats B.C 28-24 This ones a tough one....Toronto beats Montreal 27-25 *hides under desk* Calgary beats Toronto 21-10 Yeah, that could be a bit biased but the trend with Grey Cup winners is if you're hot, you're gonna win. It's usually been the case the past 4 or 5 years. And teams who have done well all season almost always suck in the playoffs. The stamps have won 7 of their last 8. Burris is on fire. Lewis is on fire. The defense is impregnable, the offense is unstoppable. The last time we lost was Labour Day to Edmonton. And we've beaten them twice since then. I know I'm a hometown fan but I think we've got the best chance out of everyone at the Cup. [Edited on 2005/11/7 by jetsniper]
  9. Man, it's obvious what we're saying isn't getting through to your little pea-brain. I give up. For all bragging rights, you "win" this argument. If you can even call it that.
  10. Wow, fanboy enough? I too think Ovechkin should get it just based on what both players have surrounding them. Crosby has the most points but 90% of it is assists. A monkey can get an assist when you have guys like Recchi, Leclair, Lemieux and Malone to put the puck in the net for you. And the Pens still aren't winning. Meanwhile, Ovechkin has the support of....Jeff Friesen? And he's scored almost a third of the entire team's goals. If anyone is carrying his team on his back, it's Ovechkin. He's more physical then Crosby and right now, is the better player. I'm not "hoping" for Crosby to lose. Anyone who is, is just being immature. I'm hoping they ignore the hype and award it to the best rookie out there. Which, as of right now, is Alexander Ovechkin. Ovechkin is a sniper I'll admit, but as far as an all round player goes Crosby is better. As far as a monkey being able to set up certain players, give me a break, thats lame. At seasons end when its all said and done it will be Crosby who'll be without any doubt the Calder winner, while the others who will have their ups and downs throughout the year he'll perform at a consistent high level as he has since he was a little boy. Don't give me this Ovechkin is more physical crap, you obviously haven't watched Crosby much at all, the kid isn't afraid to get his nose dirty and does whatever it takes to help his team. I know he isn't. I'm saying Ovechkin does it more often. Crosby doesn't go looking to lay out the big hit, Ovechkin does. And I MIGHT have watched a Crosby game or two </sarcasm> And paired with the PLAYERS on that team, a monkey can. Read the whole damn thing, it's a figure of speech. Put me on a line with Recchi and Lemieux...hell, I could end the season with about 40-50 points. 2 goals, 48 assists. Holy shit, we aren't saying Crosby sucks. We're saying Ovechkin is the better player RIGHT NOW. Get off his jock and deal with it. We know Crosby is good but Ovechkin is displaying more talent right now. It's like shortcat said, the season is barelyly 12 games in so everything could change. Thats why this whole discussion is stupid, wait until March or something people.

  12. I got tired of watching that game on Saturday. You would've thought the Senators were just another American team in town. 60 minutes of how poorly the Leafs defense was playing and they rode Eddie's jock the whole game. He could've stopped some of those, the defense didn't leave him out to dry for all 5 of them. Talk about a team overrating a player. TSN is the same way. They didn't even play yesterday and yet we still got 10 minutes of Leaf coverage last night. But the Stamps game got a couple of plays, the score and that was it for highlights there. There is more to this damn country then those wannabe Americans. Now if only the media could figure that out.
  13. It's easy enough to do. I know theres a junkload of companies out there that specalize in that kind of stuff. Really expensive though. But I'd like to get it done one day.

Holy crap....I said that...*eats his words* *bows down to the mighty White Sox*
  15. Maybe you don't know many Leaf fans because you choose your friends wisely. I live close to Toronto, and know way too many Leafs fans. Time to move. Anyway, I've always thought that NYY and Montreal Canadiens fans have something in common, much more so than NYY/TML fans. There's a lot of people who hate the Yankees (most on this board, it seems), and quite a few feel the same way about the Habs. The reason? Success. Historically, the two teams are dramatically more successful than any other in the sport. This breeds resentment (jealousy, actually) among fans of every other team. (I'll look forward to the responses to that statement!) The Habs inspire less hate than the Yankees, because the hype machine surrounding them is much smaller... but it's there. The Leafs are different. People hate them because of the hype and hysteria of their fans more than anything, which is completely inconsistent with their lack of success for the last 38 years. So I guess my thesis is: hype breeds hate. If you beat someone over the head long enough, they ain't gonna like it. I couldn't agree more. I know even now with the currently successful teams, there is a lot of hate. Going through forums that are there for all NHL fans, there is a ton of hate for teams like the Red Wings, Stars (not so much) and yes, the Avalanche. And I've heard many reasonings as to why the Avalanche are hated and thats because Denver was handed a winning team. Now that doesn't matter to me considering I live in Calgary anyway but it relates to your thesis. Also a Red Sox fan and I think the same can be said there. Most people who aren't a Yankees or Red Sox fan just hate both teams. Excellent point.

  17. Anyone catch highlights tonight? Bertuzzi got what was coming to him, lmao. And May tried to fight his old team, props to him. Solid effort overall, I think we were still feeding off the momentum of the late Oilers win. And the fact the mother canuckers are our biggest rival. Bertuzzi's gonna get this kind of reception whenever he's in Denver for the rest of his career. He screwed up huge opportunities twice and got pasted twicec. Sakic got himself a beauty too, swiped it out of mid-air for the first goal. And Wolski got sent back to Brampton on Wednesday o_O. The kid looked great, I saw no need to send him back to the juniors. Ah well, I know what to expect from him next season. I say he's a lock for Canada's junior team in December. Aebischer looked confident for most of the night too which is good news since he's been pretty unstable for the past week, week and a half.
  18. EHM? Does that mean that he isn't really keen on the sharks but just got stuck with them? I was wondering about those avatars. Some of them seem to be genuinely supportive of the teams they display. I think me and hannes are the only people in HWL who are GMs of their favorite team. Hannes started the league and I just got lucky:/)

That WS was over before it even started, kind of boring. I think I would've been more interested if the Red Sox had been there or the Astros did well. Houston killed themselves for most of the series, they left something like 18 men on base. Either way, congrats to the White Sox. That's two "curses" down the drain. Maybe it's the Cubs year next year?
  20. Awesome win by the boys tonight, I think this one has potential to be a defining game. We blew another multiple -goal lead but were able to recover from it. Wolski gets another and Brisebois gets the winner. Brisebois is on a 3 game goal-scoring streak and 4 game point-scoring streak. He's been excellent on the PK and awesome on the PP. So far he has exceeded all expectations I had for him. The change of scenery has done him good. And Edmonton's slide has hit 6 straight losses. Also, has anyone noticed the increased amount of interference with goalies? It's not even getting called that often. The Oilers were all over Aebischer tonight but this time, god bless him, he managed to keep his cool. Guess Q had a talk with him. [Edited on 2005/10/26 by jetsniper]
  21. If you want to base it off his favorite team, you're gonna wanna think about the Flames not the Habs. Hell, I say name it Kerp.
  22. Deadmarsh, Miller and our 1st round pick for Reinprecht and Blake. I'm pretty sure we had a little bit more but thats the jist of it. Lacroix is a great GM, he makes the same amount of good and bad decisions as any other GM. Avs fans are shitting on him for not keeping Foppa and Foote but even at best, it was a longshot. Lacroix has never steered us wrong and I wouldn't want anyone else leading this team.
  23. 3-4-1 If this keeps up....3-5-1. And they won their first 3 games.
