    Where Ya From?

cool, i lived in the windsor area for 12 years. Tecumseh for 5 years and Essex for 7 years. i've lived in ottawa since 1992.
  2. I just sent an email to gary bettman about the officiating in Saturday's game against the laffs, in which the Habs were blatantly screwed. this is the email i sent him, just thought i would let you fellow habs fans read it: Hello, I am writing in regards to the abortion of a game called by four very poor excuses for NHL officials on Saturday night (November 26), in a game between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs. The four "officials" in question; Kevin Pollock, Dean Warren, Derek Amell, and Brad Kovalchik performed their duties with an inexplicably low level of profesionalism. In the second period, Montreal defenseman Andrei Markov scored a goal despite being aggressively (and obviously) hooked by Toronto defenseman Tomas Kronwall. "Referee" Kevin Pollock, in a mind-boggling display of poor officiating, decided that not only should the goal not be allowed, but that Kronwall should not be penalized for the blatant hook. Pollock cited "incidental contact" as the reason for not allowing the goal. So a player being hooked for several seconds until he collides with the goaltender after the puck crosses the goal line is incidental contact. Is this what you had in mind for "the new NHL" ? Later, at the conclusion of the third period - A period in which a great deal of obstruction on both sides, including at least two hooks by Toronto player Bryan McCabe, was ignored - Montreal defenseman Craig Rivet was penalized for swatting the puck away from a Toronto player. I would just like to know what the NHL will do to discipline these officials for their incredible lack of competence and inconsistency. Thank you
  3. does anybody know when souray is due back? i hope he's back for tonight's game against ottawa.
  4. actually washington is playing surprisingly well...considering that they are washington!
  5. what about using ryder on the top line, and perezhogin on the second line?
  6. i don't think it's gretzky's fault that the coyotes suck. they're just a terrible team. i would be very surprised if they made any kind of run at the playoffs this year. i think their season should be considered a success if they end up with the #1 pick.
  7. he should have gotten more than 5 games. it's the second time he has kicked a player, so i think 10 to 15 would have been more appropriate. i live in ottawa and even most of the callers on the team 1200 here think he should have gotten more. i think he is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the dirtiest players in the league. personally i can't stand him. oh yeah, i also think zdeno chara should have received a lengthy suspension for his shameful and disgusting sucker punch on ivanens. what a dirty team! hate the senators!
  8. yo la tengo - prisoners of love does anybody else like this band?
  9. i have never liked pierre mcguire. i live in ottawa and he is frequently on the team 1200 here. the way he talks, it seems as though he thinks he invented the game. he loves to take credit for the penguins success of the early 90's (he was briefly an assistant coach for the pens) "when i was coaching mario with scotty..blah blah blah" for those of you who think he is a habs fan because he used to be on cjad, think again. he never misses an opportunity to bash them on the team 1200. ( im sure he doesn't do that on the team 990 though, that's not his style). he is the biggest phony ever to be involved in the game. for example, just before a playoff series between the leafs and sens, he predicted on the team 1200 that the sens would win. then he promptly went on to predict on tsn that the leafs would win. :?- wtf?? anyways, i don't want to get into a rant or anything but suffice it to say that i really hate pierre mcguire.
  10. actually that still wouldn't be right statistically. if they inversed the number of balls, the teams with 3 balls (like montreal for example) would then have even less chance of landing the #1 pick, because you would have to have all 3 balls left at the end in order to get the first pick. the chance of this happening is only about 1.4% as opposed to 2.08% the other way. i think the only way to announce the picks from 30 to 1 would be to not do it live.
