  1. The US is still in this game by a mile. But trying to get one over forechecking might put them down 3-0. The last Canada rush was because the US was frantically forechecking down low. On the other hand they could bulldoze a goal. Be careful on that USA!
  2. I should critisize them for all the faults I see. Support play led to a goal!!! Iffy penalty call on Ryan IMO
  3. Is Canada going to attempt one play that inspires puck player support? It might not break the US defensively but on dump ins and attacks it's all tic-tac-toe attempts. MORE SUPPORT!
  4. USA has 2 defenders in their slot with 1 defender handling Canadian forecheckers. Canada is not double teaming on the attack and they are playing too much puck possession pretty game.
  5. At least this year I don't have to worry about being at work a 8 AM with a hangover like in 2002. Early game has its advantages. Go :can: Go
  6. Ha ha Chara. Probably a good thing since he's likely headed for 40 mins tonight. When Chara is over worked he gets too tired...who doesn't? Keep playing Chara more and more Slovakia. Works for me
  7. Slovakia needs a Mark Messier or Mario Lemieux 1st intermission speech right now!
  8. Hats off to Halak. What are the Chances? Yikes! It should be 3-0 or 4-0, maybe 5-0. Slovakia is in trouble. The only thing that is their friend right now is the deficit is the worst lead in hockey. The defending neutral zone trap game cannot be their only game plan. They have to open up something. This is not in their plan at all. Slovaks had better change up style soon, somehow. They're thrown off for sure
  9. I never count my chickens and I agree absolutely. At least the Finns didn't have a vacation today like the Swedes did. Alfie? Talk about no emotion. Chewing bubble gum on the bench with 5 to go in regulation???? :?- :?- :?- Sad display from the defending champs IMO!
  10. It'll be interesting to see if Staal is put out against Chara. Staal has Chara's number about as much as Steve Bégin did when he was a Montreal Canadien.
  11. Kipper must have taken the wrong notes while watching Nabokov. Yikes. A performance like that in the playoffs spells doom for Calgary. Not taking anything away from the USA on that note; USA would have won even if Kipper had been playing his A game. So much for the Finns doing us a favour. And we still have to win a game tonight. There were a lot of people at my work that have Slovakia totally written off. Probably true but hockey can JUST come down to good fortune or bad luck sometimes.
  12. The women are kicking ass. 1st intermission 2-0 for :can:
  13. How about those KHL'ers? Radulov was irrelevant last night. Morozov couldn't connect on a one timer. Korneev was suspect. Could it be the KHL is a less player committed league thus leading to skills getting rusty? I wonder if not taking Kovalev was a mistake. I guarantee Russian fans will be upset that Kovalev didn't go. In Russia Kovalev is more popular than Bure.
  14. 5 days and 21 hours and change to go until deadline. I've become so preoccupied with the Olympics that the time remaining didn't occur to me. Heh, our team and others are about to get a tweak or mini-overhaul possibly and all I can think about is the game tomorrow. 5 Days 21:40
  15. I'm lovin' it. Unless things go strange it looks like a USA-Canada rematch. But, ya never know for sure.
  16. I think so. In spite of Russia's surprising collapse in this game I am really pumped that the Canadians have found their DEVASTATING A game. I'd like to see a USA matchup now considering our play. I'm not boasting here because they are able to beat us again. BUT, this team has awaken! And, we could be a rotten customer in the Americans kitchen now. Time will tell. I'm happy with the cohesion. They are becoming nasty
  17. Stretch passed gets you burned Russia. Pierre McGuire mentioned it before I had a chance to type it. Lookin' like a champ level now. Took long enough! Go Canada Go
  18. What I like about Olympic hockey is that the officiating is awesome. I haven't seen anything really to get me as angry as I would within watching 3 different NHL games Habs and non-Habs. It's the IIHF/Olympic rules I like. Even at World Cups and junior there is that standard. But the NHL still can't ref it's way out of a paper bag. But that's because the league has no idea what they want or are doing. Seriously, the new NHL didn't start after the lockout. It happened in 1995 when the previous lockout was solved. Evidence of this is "no skate in the crease" from the 1998-99 season. Rules and changes and bigger nets The new confused NHL is 15 years old.
  19. Sorry Swiss. Admirable but definitely not the serving they wanted.
  20. D'OH! Anyway, if Canada drops this game tonight then the players can come to my house and take out my garbage!
  21. The extra game is good in one way. It allows Canada to get more cohesive and familiar as far as the players and the play goes. But, it would have been better had Canada won. The extra game is the silver lining/kick in the groin at the same time situation. 50/50. .500 isn't good enough for gold and we have an enormous mountain to climb. Make no mistake about it! Go Canada GO!
