  1. So - let's review ... Quebecois, jetsniper, JMMR, & even COLIN!!! (and yours truly) were CORRECT while BTH, mathieu30 & obviously Macaskill were WRONG :king:
  2. bumperoo thought this thread may be lost! what? does NO ONE ELSE have an opinion about the Super Bowl?
  3. children's animated jet plane - in between the 10 minute segments there is a spot that goes like this ... Rocks don't float ... they sink ... watch me put this rock in the water ... see ... it sinks ... what happens if you eat a rock? ... then go swimming ... think about it.
  4. Have you been watching "Jay Jay the Jetplane"?
  5. could you give me the email addresses of your betting partners? i've got a feeling i can get them to put money on the Colts winning the Super Bowl next weekend.
  6. you're probably right - and that's why i really don't expect it to be an issue in this parliament.
  7. sooooo close to official party status! Canes will have to wait for the next election! anyways - glad to see Harper win, even if it is only a Minority government. hopefully he will be successful and debunking the myths and 'scarey' label in the next few months so that he and the Conservatives can win a Majority the next time we go to the polls. as for the Social Conservative views of the party (as opposed to the Economic or International) - it's a shame that some of us feel that an MP free vote on the topic is bad news for Canadians and the proponents of same-sex marriage or abortion. in a democracy, i think free-votes for social issues are the way to go. let the government govern on economics or international relations, etc. - but on topics that are of a social nature, such as same-sex marriage - let every MP vote either with their conscience or on behalf of their riding - as they like.
  8. Steelers win - not even going to be close. Their D is coming up big, regardless of the opposition (Bengals & the balanced attack, Colts & the air strike, Broncos & the running game), their O is unpredictable in that they can beat you with the pass - deep or short, the power run, the big play run, and their QB is safe. I can't see the Seahawks getting more than a late touchdown in this one when the game is basically done. Steelers 27 - Seahawks 10
  9. so - you've bought what the Liberals have been selling ... that we should FEAR Harper ... that he is scary! These aren't your words, yet you suggest a hidden agenda. We know the Liberals hidden agenda, only because they have been in power for so long - their agenda involves scandels & forcing THEIR morality (yes, i'm talking about Marriage Laws) on the country without allowing the country to speak on the issue - mainly because there hasn't been a viable alternative to the Liberals since the 80s. We know that the Liberals stand for anything they think will get them votes - yet for some, the only reason they won't vote Conservative is because they believe they have a hidden agenda. I believe there is a hidden agenda as much as I believe there are monsters in my closet - sure, i don't like everything in my closet - some of it stinks ... but there are no monsters. I do know 1 thing that more closely resembles a monster than my closet ... the (Liberal) Cabinet!
  10. i just finished vacuuming vacuum ... odd word IMO - but fun to type vacuum vacuum vacuum vacuum vacuum
  11. great pic, Spider-man NL, of Bob & Guy behind the bench - can't tell you how great that looks! It's the look of a team that nows where it's going! Let's see a repeat of Saturday night vs. the Sharks! 6-2 Habs over the Stars is fine by me!
  12. that would be bothersome to me too - Harper needs to get the candidates names right. but, in his defence - just because he forgot the names, doesn't mean he doesn't care or won't do the best for the regions they represent. heck, 1/2 the time - i get my own children's names mixed up! plus - my reply wasn't from a Quebec perspective where the Bloc is a viable option. i'm not a separatist, but if i were still living in Quebec (i lived there until the age of 24) - i'd consider voting for them, except for the fact that if the Bloc didn't exist, then the Conservatives would pick up at least a few seats (although not like the Mulroney days) - and that might just be enough to at least put the Conservatives in power as a Minority government or with a slight majority. i just try to do the 'right' thing with my vote and hope that the majority of Canadians do the same. we all have different opinions as to what that 'right' thing is - but at least we've exercised our right to vote and hopefully made a statement with it - whether we are voting FOR a party or AGAINST a party or to SUPPORT (ie Green) a party or BECAUSE of a party's policy.
  13. only thing that teaches the liberals the right lesson is to get them out of power the only wrong lesson is to re-elect them - teaches them they can continue, corruption and all only viable alternative is to vote Conservative - NDP need to at least have a turn as official opposition before i let them govern the country ... now THAT would be scary! Harper gets my vote.
  14. no - he killed me in week 16! the league i was in (other than the 1 with you - in which i had my best week of the year 105 pts) had it's finals 1 week early. Cincinnati had a lot to play for that game and came up limp against Buffalo! oh well - UNTIL NEXT YEAR!!!
  15. just wondering since the football season is over - if we have any league champions out there? i was in 4 leagues this year - lost in the championship game for 2 of them (thanks Mr. Carson Palmer - chokes in the clutch for me!) came in 8th out of 10 (i think) in another league and came in dead last in the league i joined to help Fanpuck out since the original GM quit (and i now know why he quit!) how did anyone else do? which player was the key to your success ... or demise?
  16. i used to have that problem in the old forum - and would copy and paste my significant posts before posting. haven't had a problem yet in this new format - but i do copy every now and then - just in case!
  17. i've always liked Dumont - thought he was underrated as a player (overrated in the draft, though) he brought a lot to the Sabres lineup. I don't think he fits in Montreal - but he's certainly someone I like.
  18. Merry Christmas and if the Habs put together a winning streak, I'm sure it will be a Happy New Year!
  19. i'm too lazy to read if someone already said this but i note a couple of things - 1st - there are 2 levels of NHL veteran at 850 and 1100 2nd - once you get past 500 posts - i would use increments of 100 and not 50. My thought is that anyone into the 500s is clearly a regular, and probably (hopefully) will be around for a long time - well beyond 1100 posts. Save some of the prestigious rankings for 2000 posts or 3000 posts. Something for HW members to shoot for 3-5 years from now. i have other ideas ... but i'll save them for another post! :king:
  20. It was an excuse that the government, thought was a good excuse based on the data they had. I said it in my previous post, but I'll say it again - Saddam used WMD on his own people - the Kurds - that in and of itself is a reason to go in there and get him out. Perhaps the crime is that it took so long to go in there and get the job done! I don't understand why we continually protect the proven guilty and risk greater suffering to the innocent. I believe in innocent until proven guilty - but in no-way was Saddam innocent. I don't believe there is a perfect President or Prime Minister or King or Ruler, etc. - but I'm wayyyyy more comfortable with President Bush as my leader than President Hussein! God help us all if we ever have a leader that ever has plans to eradicate the world of a people group as Hussein attempted to the Kurds or wished for the Americans. I don't believe you are saying that you think Hussein is a worthy leader - but what I do hear you saying is that you place a higher value on beauraucracy and process than justice. I believe that process has its place, but that it follows justice and that sometimes near-sighted process sometimes needs to be set aside for justice (example - I want the police to assume the guy taking a hammer to my car is a criminal, the guy carrying my kid away kicking and screaming to be a kid-napper ... I'd hope they wouldn't treat these guys cordially and serve them with papers to appear in court in a month or two ... arrest the guy!!!). I believe Hussein (like bin Laden) is fine with civilians being killed for his greater good - I am convinced that Bush is heart-broken over the thought that civilians have been killed. Hussein attacks the weak (civilians) - Bush attacks the strong (military). I believe that 50 years from now, we will say that President Bush may have broken with proper short-term process, but that in the end justice was served.
  21. I'm surprised it took 3 hours for someone to pay you to stop singing!
  22. doesn't take long to spend a buck, does it Maca!
  23. I just don't think President Bush asked to start a war against terrorism - he responded to the act of terrorism. I don't believe he intentionally lied - I believe he was wrong in many parts. But I also believe that even though there were no weapons of mass destruction, it was clear that Hussein was a threat that needed to be dealt with. Bush's premise may have been false (revenge or weapons of mass destruction), but I'm not sure that the world isn't a safer place now. I found it interesting how little the surrounding governments tried to stop the US. I find it interesting that we forget (or choose to see Bush as a greater enemy than Hussein) that Hussein DID use weapons of mass destruction on the Kurds - there was no reason to believe Hussein WOULDN'T do it again! I'll sum up my opinion this way ... it is way easier for me to find fault in my brother or sister than fault in a person on the other side of the planet, but in the end, even if I disagree with my brother or sister - I choose to trust them. I believe it is easier for us to find fault with the US government because we know so much about them, but in the end I don't believe the US wants to control the world or hurt other people groups (I think, like us, they simply want a better lifestyle and to live in peace) - so, in the end - I choose to trust them.
  24. absolutely great work, Matt! BTW - Niko Kapanen is available for Coburn if you like!
