  1. Not my idea, local radio suggestion, but announcing the new captain woulda been cool. Maybe with a Saku Koivu hand off message on the big screen. The night was sensational though, as close to perfect as you can get, in my humble opinion.
  2. I've been thinking Gionta. But when Cammi said in an interview that they don't have televisions in Travis Moen's hometown, in Saskatchewan, I thought why not be captain.
  3. If you're onto something, help us out with the 6/49 for tomorrow.
  4. One thing is missing from tonight, Saku Koivu.
  5. And so begins another 100 years. Hope some of this rubbed off on Mr. Gomez. It's true what they say though, Habs just do this stuff the right way.
  6. That CBC camera thing is cool, you control what you're looking at.
  7. RDS just said Ken Dryden's going to put on the pads for the first time since he retired. They got me. I wasn't super into it, but they pulled me in. I loved it when Bob Gainey skated out, in full gear, at his jersey retirement.
  8. On the local radio broadcast, Murray Wilson said 65 former players were expected at the ceremony tomorrow. If it's another no-show by the team, it's going to be really embarrassing. Does anybody care on this team??
  9. I apologize, bad attitude on my part, I'm watching tonights adventure in Buffalo.
  10. Call it a defence-mechanism, but I find myself laughing at this team.
  11. Ok, Scott Gomez makes too much money, and you don't think Bob is a good GM. Next topic.
  12. Jay Leach will never make an impact in the NHL. And also, I come to this site for intelligent hockey talk. Not to read some clown call a respected hockey man dumb. Read some of the top posters on this board, they just never drop to your level. That's something I'm afraid you'll never comprehend, unless you're 12 years old, than you've got time to grow up.
  13. Are we really concerned about an AHL, depth player? Also, I cringed when you described Gainey's mistake. We get it, you don't like Bob, but your choice of words.
  14. For fun, take a look at some of the scrubs drafted before Kyle. Alexandre Picard, selected 8th, 2 career assists. Boris Valabik?? Lauri Tukonen?? You get my point...
  15. Mr. Farber is one talented writer. I've always enjoyed his work.
  16. Wamsley, I give up. But look forward to reading your posts. Mike Cammalleri can be traded, if a 1st tier player actually agrees to come to Montreal. He's a 40 goal scorer, surround him with a Joe Thornton type, he could approach 50. Spacek? We may have overpaid, but he's easily dealt, especially in his final year. Travis Moen makes $1.5 million, you know that's not a problem.
  17. Could we please stop with this lack of flexibility, team set for 5 years stuff. At the conclusion of the 2011 season, the team has 5 contracts on the books, for a grand total of $23.8 million. The only contract, in my opinion, difficult to move is Gomez. And one other thing, Wamsley never stops with this cap is going to be less argument. NOBODY anywhere has confimed this, prove it, if I'm wrong. It's all maybe, we're not sure, the economy has started to recover. The team has money, in this market, it has to be spent.
  18. The post of the night!!
  19. Great list of course!! Most of them are completely untouchable, some are cornerstones of their respective franchises. As soon as I hit enter, I knew someone would call me out on Patrick Sharp. I picked a random player, from an organization perceived to be in cap trouble. I'll take Barker or Seabrooke as well. In my opinion, Cammalleri is an upgrade on Kovalev, and repaces him easily.
  20. I could swear you were critical of Brian Burke for the Kessel move. I posted that he could very well score 400 goals over the next ten years. Why can't Bob Gainey pull a move like that with say, Patrick Sharp? Since you referenced Chicago. Our supposed lack of flexibility? Trade Plecks/Kostitsyn or any number of players, and Bob could get creative. I just don't see all the doom and gloom. I also don't consider Cammalleri second tier.
  21. Interesting discussion. Second tier forwards? We can't get 1st tier players to sign here, for reasons we all know, period. Let's throw out names, we'd have to pay what? 12 million for Gaborik. Flexibility?? I'm tired of that argument, we can trade any number of our players, and free up space. Furthermore, in the big markets, you have to be at or near the cap, imagine having 5 or 10 million free, and not use it.
  22. you have to give credit to the leafs, they're playing a perfect road game. I figured we were better on paper at least, we may not be.
