  1. Huh? :?- In order to push someone you actually have to be better. I like Hainsey as well, but what he showed in training camp did not warrant a final stay on the blueline. Not to say most of the D-Man on Montreal looked overly impressive. By the way beckham, thanks for that stat on Streit. Didn't know he was -5 with all that ice time he had. Bob Gainey must really like him so I am willing to wait and see what Mr. Streit can do in the regular season.
  2. With all the changes the Habs are trying to do, I would like to see the first two lines stay together at least for the first 10 games. Then try to work guys around to get used to each other in case of emergencies. Colorado was famous for changing lineups and was very successful in the past. (Not saying we have the talent that team had)
  3. Jaromir Jagr is really a very talented offensive player. He used to be able to back check a little when he played on Mario's team and was a big reason the Penguins were so successful. [Edited on 2005/10/3 by Howie_Morenz]
  4. Holy C*%^$^P Leafs Suck. I totally forgot about brother Hossa in Atlanta. Would that not be something to see the brothers on the same team? :/) I am looking forward to the NHL season and Bob Gainey will do what it takes to get us closer to being a contender. No way he would screw over the Rangers or should I say Sather because that would not help us in the future. Good nurtured business relationships will help in trades in the future. Plus if by trading Hossa in the first place, no way the team is going to want him back so soon.
  5. http://hockeysfuture.com/article.php?sid=7...hreaded&order=0 Hockeysfuture.com has an article on the Canadiens future goalies. Was interesting reading for me so I thought I would share the link.
  6. Even if Theodore stays healthy and they are forced to use him for nearly every regular season game, that could cost them in the playoffs if he wears down. He isn't a particularly big or strong player. beckham, you said this in another thread in regards to Jose. Do you not want big and strong players to help the small players? Personally, I think some smaller players like Koivu are very strong to be able to take on larger guys in the corners. A big guy on his line would help though and maybe this is what the future holds for Montreal. Plus big or tougher guys are hard to push around in front of the opponents net. I will admit you know more about the young guys on the team better than I, but do you not think we need some beef to back up the skill? I know I am tired about hearing how small and weak the Habs are in Toronto land.
  7. shortcat1, I like your new avatar more and more every time I see it. You have inspired me to make a new one this weekend that is not so mean to leaf players. Even the worst Leaf has some talent or he would not be on the team. Back on topic, I can't wait to see what Gainey's next move is now that hossa is gone from the nest. Anyone care to take a crack at a possible lineup? Go :hlogo: Go!
  8. All hail the ~moeman for torturing us.:bow::bow: Only kidding ~moeman, its good you brought this up as many on here probably ignore, or don't get the Toronto media in their area. (Oh how I envy those people) The biggest Leaf Homer is the late night vampire on the Fan590 as he calls the Leafs "Gods Team". He says it in jest he has stated but he believes it to be true. Can you jinx your team any more then telling the Leaf flock "I am" favors one team over another? So many interesting habs fans on this board!
  9. Well it looks like we are going to have a good look at what Mr. Streit can do for the team. Can't say I Hate or Like this because we do need guys to play behind Souray and Markov. He is a late Gainey draft choice so this does not surprise me. Obviously B.G. sees something that I am missing.
  10. I have to agree with those on this board (Yes agreeing with beckham again) Latendresse will most likely be sent back to juniors. I would love to see him in a habs uniform this year, but I would hate to ruin this guy getting stuck as a checker. Preseason does not make a player into an NHL calibre player,it shows the individuals developement. I got caught thinking every forward on our team was ready. Time went on and guys sort of dissapeared. I thought Bulis was going to be the guy going to be traded and I am glad I was wrong. Hossa has potential every year but every year we say this. I wish him luck in the big apple and he will get playing time on that team. Maybe they will put him on a line with softy Jagr...
  11. Howard Berger and his Fan590 Leaf cronies (morning show) all talk about how deep the Leafs are at centre. How Wellwood and the rest of the young guys show the JFJ plan to get young (even though Marchment and Thomas were in camp). 680 news snippits with Bill (Although he is a bit critical of them too) in how the young guys are so great like Steen and Wellwood. "Speaking of Antropov, he is among the solid group of wingers that also includes stalwarts Tucker and Domi, but the big story here is newcomer Jeff O'Neill." I have heard this so many times I am going to be sick. This is a standard line by the hosts of all the shows it is just WRONG! Only Tucker would have a shot at the Habs roster because he can score if given the opportunity to play on a good line. "Another addition to the forward line that has gone unnoticed but could provide major results is winger Mariusz Czerkawski, who boasts four 25-plus goal campaigns on his resume -- and that was when mauling was still legal in this league." Hahahahaha are they going to be dissapointed with this useless player when his +/- encroaches bad numbers. "The jewel of Toronto's defense is actually a two-pronged gem, as McCabe and Tomas Kaberle form an envious 1-2 punch along the blue line." This should be 5-6 as they would not even be Montreals 1-2. Souray Markov much better players with the puck. "Minding the net once again is Ed Belfour, who turned 40 in April. It is hard to argue against the veteran after his 2003-04 season included 34 wins and a 2.13 goals-against average." He stinks! He lost to Philly and did not look good. Belfour always looks good during the season, then playoffs come along CHOKE. This from the article has been written before and rehashed over and over and over and over...
  12. And the T-DOT radio stations pick this crap up and run with it. Man are they pathetic here. I for one believe in my heart that the Anonymus Leaf fan with the Brown Paper bag over their heads will be back this year.
  13. Rooster, two thumbs up for an interesting lineup. But what about Mr. Zednik? This should be a year he excells in the NHL if they stop the obstruction that goes on. I have finally started to like this guy and cannot see how he would be taken off the first line. I agree with your lines except I would keep Zendnik on the line and take Perezhogin off.
  14. I tend to agree with you as this is valid to a certain point. I'm not sold on Huet either. A bad backup goalie could doom us but you do not take into account that Boston and Leafs made massive changes. Are these teams guaranteed playoff positions? Joe Thorton goes down and Boston is cooked. Lindros and Allison cannot even play a full preseason game so their hopes at playoffs is questionable. I am not even sure either teams defense is much better than Montreal's and they both do not really have a legitimate goalie. So the backup goalie may not make a difference in playoff position. I am still waiting to hear which team is trading a goaltender to the Habs. Looking at other teams there is not much available.
  15. beckham you are so set at getting rid of Theo and Danis for some reason before the regular season starts. Which goalie are we trading for? Don't say we are trading a bucket of pucks for Biron, it would have to be a real trade. I am curious who you think is available as I cannot.
  16. Sorry about not responding to you already Bulis_the_Habbie. I believe the team may win enough games to squeek into 5th overall in the conference, mostly on the back of Jose. I am not blown away by the defense past Souray and Markov. There is potential with some of the young forwards which is exciting as they are not just checking forwards. Chipchura, a Gainey pick I thought would really press for a spot. At first it also looked like most of the forwards were going to impress us. Alas some opted to have me put my foot in my mouth with my enthusiasm. I'm in hope that Streit can adjust as I believe he can help the team move the puck to the forwards quickly. Late round Gainey pick I believe. So far to me Hainsey has looked slightly better. I know I quickly jumped on the blame Houle side the other day and do apologise. The Houle then Savard GM era was just not my favorite. Gainey picking Price and Latendresse makes the organization much better. Gainey also sticks up for the players and will make trades that benefit the team, not his job.
  17. Not an expert like you beckham with your wise and pungent posts. This trade was one of my favorite Houle Deals. Guys he considered were good and cost a second rounder. Never thought Weinrich was all that good anyway and Turner Stevenson went on to win a Stanley CUP. http://slam.canoe.ca/HockeyNHLDraft00/jun23_whe.html So yes there were draft pick trades and we got cash for one trade a whole $1USD. Yes under Houle there were some potential good draft picks but when you look at the Canadiens draft pick history, uh its OK, nothing special yet. Plus was it him or Savard that had the most influence on the picks; do you have inside info to share? Montreal's Great and Dubious Draft history, you decide: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/teams/dr000045.html As for Gainey he is doing good things already. Just being a steady force at the top of the team and standing up for players. Plus he recognizes the clubs needs, Price, Latendresse. Obviously he wants the team to be bigger and knows Jose will be relaced one day. According to you Price is the replacement already. Just the facts O-Wise one:bow:
  18. I heard a rumour the game score is being sent by registered Pigeon and should arrive by the morning. as long as a Hawk does not spot the Pigeon first.
  19. I nomally dont watch sports channels for hilights. I have RDS, RIS, TSN, Sportsnet, The Score and not one hilight. This means it is the Canadiens leading the Boston Redsox 7-2 in the Bottom of the 6th inning, not the Blue Jays.
  20. Nah, too many trojans to creep into your system. Plus this is our imaginary get together to listen to a non-existant game being played by players with the night off.
  21. I would like to thank my Mom, and special thanks to the team here for this tremendous award. I could not have contributed so much confusion without your help. I really would like to thank the NHL for their expert reporting of out of town scores and cannot wait until they discover electricity in order to modernize the reporting they do.
  22. RIS Info Sports Quebec just changed their mind and now say 5-2 Habs. At least we are fashionable :/)
  23. The Score in Toronto is now saying 5-2 Habs. This is just pathetic unless I can see some goals. How can we get correct CFL and MLB scores and not know if the Canadiens even played? Jays 7 redsox 1 WooHoo go Jays go. [Edited on 2005/9/29 by Howie_Morenz]
  24. jordy11 Was that not stats from another preseason? hehehe conspiracy theory everywhere!
