  1. Daniel Pugh has been promoted from the practice squad and will start this Saturday vs Calgary. Lapointe is still at least 2 weeks away BTW... http://www.tsn.ca/news_story.asp?ID=47386&hubName=main
  2. He was one of the higher profile guys left, don't forget Brian Leetch is still out there. I agree though, I highly doubt that the Rangers actually have a budget.
  3. deVries signed a 4 year, $13 million dollar deal. He makes $4.2 mil this season, $3.1 next year, $3 mil in 2005-06, and $2.7 mil in 2006-07. The Rangers actually have a budget??? WOW! http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=47327
  4. Prospects refers to junior-aged players (18-20 years old.) This means that if we want to sign Kastsitsyn, we'd have to do so before Tuesday. As for UFA prospects, there's no deadline in which to sign them, as they are, like many others, unrestricted free agents.
  5. I found this on canadiens.com, it's a decent read. http://www.canadiens.com/english/presse/co...dex.cfm?id=1776
  6. http://www.tsn.ca/ahl/news_story.asp?id=46849
  7. It seems you're right puck, it's now officially being called a suicide. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=46808
  8. He signed a 3 year, $4.8 mil contract in the middle of the 2001-02 season. So, he's played through 1 year so far, and will become a UFA at the end of the 2004-05 season. (Or earlier, if Gainey buys him out...) [Edited on 2003/7/9 by dlbalr]
  9. He turns 31 years "young" today. http://www.canadiens.com/english/calendrier/ (I was just browsing through the Habs' website and came across it-what a fluke! )
  10. He signed a 1 year deal plus an option with the club. He joined the team Tuesday and is expected to be in the lineup Saturday night. http://www.tsn.ca/news_story.asp?ID=46710&hubName=main
  11. I was waiting for you to beat 60 before I posted my next high score, 63. Perfect 1st, perfect 2nd, and I got 14 points in the 3rd (yes I scored on the goalie without hitting his head first). So, I once again am the king! :king:
  12. Klatt's deal was a 2 year, 2.2 million dollar contract. (1.1 mil per season). Seems strange that the Canucks couldn't afford to keep him at that price...
  13. They've signed Mathieu Chouinard and Trent Klatt. Terms and lengths of the deals have not been disclosed. http://www.lakings.com/
  14. Well, one of my trades no longer makes any sense. I dealt Ribeiro to Florida because I thought Florida may want to re-unite him with ex-linemate Pierre Dagenais, however, as I'm sure everyone now knows, Dagenais is a Hab, so that deal makes very little sense now. In case anyone was wondering, I put Denis Shvidki in that deal, as he's an ex-linemate of Bulis. The two of them played quite well together for Barrie in junior.
  15. Centre Roman Lyashenko of the New York Rangers was found dead today in a Turkish hotel at the age of 24. The cause of his death is unknown at this time. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=46624
  16. When I got my 57 I had one hell of a game , I had a near perfect 1st period , a perfect 2nd period and a decent 3rd... I had a perfect 1st, an almost perfect second, and scored 10 goals on the goalie, I doubt I can do much better than that.
  17. I just started playing today, and my top score is a 50. I'll catch you one day puck! (If I bother to go back and try again ) If you haven't tried this game yet, I recommend that you do so, it's quite simple, yet fun. Edit: Just got a 60 as my top score. [Edited on 2003/7/5 by dlbalr]
  18. The new thread has now been created sakiqc, you can now close this one.
  19. Here are all of the entries (in total, 3 of them) Remember, the entries were created before the July 1 deadline, so McKay/Czerk appear on the roster, and Kilger's contract won't be $800,000. Entry #1 (puck7x) RFA signings: Koivu ($5 mil), Markov ($2.2 mil), Dwyer ($0.4 mil), Kilger ($1.25 mil), Ribeiro (N/A), Ryder ($400,000) UFA signings: none Trades: 1) Ribeiro to Edmonton for 2nd rounder 2) Juneau to Avs for 6th rounder 3) Dackell / 5th to Nucks for J.Ruutu Line combos: 1) Zednik - Koivu - Audette (1.7 + 5 + 3 = 9.7) 2) Hossa - Perreault - Ward (1.075 + 2.8 + .75 = 4,625) 3) Kilger - Bulis - Sundstrom (1.25 + 1 + 1.8 = 4.25) 4) Dwyer - Gratton - Ruutu (.4 + .4 + .4 = 1.2) Spares: Ryder, McKay (0.4 + 2.125 = 2.525) 1) Markov - Rivet (2.2 + 1.5 = 3.75) 2) Souray - Komisarek (1.1 + 1.13 = 2.23) 3) Hainsey - Quintal (1.1 + 2.15 = 3.25) Spare: Bouillon (0.5) 1) Theodore (5) 2) Garon (0.9) ------------ TOTAL PAYROLL: $37,530,000 Entry #2 (sakiqc) RFA signings: Koivu ($5 mil), Kilger ($1.25 mil), Markov ($2.7 mil), Ribeiro ($1.15), Dwyer (not given), Isbister ($2.5 mil) UFA signings: Teemu Selanne (SJ) 1 yr/5 mil Trades: 1) Dackell (1,4) + Ribeiro (1,15) to EDM for Isbister (2,55) 2) 1st round 2004 + Hossa (1,075) + Markov(2,7) to OTT for Havlat (1,5) + Chara (1,75) (PLUS 1,5M) 3) Dykhuis (1,6) Taken by Toronto at the Waiver Draft 4) Chris Neil (0,45) taken from Ottawa at the Waiver Draft Line combos: 1) Zednik-Koivu-Selanne(1.7+5+5=11.7) 2) Havlat-Perreault-Audette (1.5+2.8+3=7.3) 3) Isbister-Bulis-Ward (2.5+1+.75=4.25) 4) Kilger-Juneau-Sundstrom (1.25+2.1+1.8=5.15) Spare: Neil (.45) 1) Komisarek-Chara (1.13+1.75=2.88) 2) Brisebois-Quintal (4+2.15=6.15) 3) Rivet-Souray (2.5+1.1=3.6) Spare: Bouillon (.5) 1) Theodore (5) 2) Garon (1) ------------- TOTAL PAYROLL: $47.98 mil Note to sakiqc-this entry was edited to make payroll (Quintal, Theodore, Isbister) Entry #3 (dlbalr) RFA signings: Koivu ($4.75 mil), Markov ($2.25 mil), Kilger ($1.25 mil), Dwyer ($600,000), Shvidki ($750,000) UFA signings: Chris Simon (CHI) 1 yr/$1.25 mil Trades: 1) Mike Ribeiro + 4th rounder to FLA for Marcus Nilson + Denis Shvidki 2) Andreas Dackell to MIN for a 6th rounder 3) Karl Dykhuis to CBJ for Darrel Scoville 4) 3rd rounder to BUF for J.P. Dumont Lines: 1) Zednik-Koivu-Audette (9.45 mil) 2) Hossa-Perreault-Dumont (4.975 mil) 3) Bulis-Juneau-Sundstrom (4.825 mil) 4) Nilson-Kilger-McKay (4.3 mil) Spares: Ward, Simon (2 mil) 1) Markov-Rivet (3.75 mil) 2) Brisebois-Quintal (6.15 mil) 3) Souray-Komisarek (2.13 mil) Spare: Bouillon (.5 mil) 1) Theodore (5 mil) 2) Garon (.9075 mil) ----------- TOTAL PAYROLL: $44,050,500 As an added challenge to my own entry, I did the Hamilton roster too (not included in the payroll). This is why I've traded for minor-leaguers. RFA signings: Ryder ($400,000), Perezhogin (1.13 mil per season) UFA signings: J-G Trudel (HOU) 1 yr/$500,000 Lines: 1) Trudel-Higgins-Shvidki 2) Ryder-Plekanic-Balej 3) Perezhogin-Gratton-Milroy 4) Dwyer-Larrivée-Thinel Spare: Blouin 1) Hainsey-Archer 2) Traverse-Jarventie 3) Scoville-Shasby Spare: Carpentier (signed a minor league deal with Hamilton a week or two ago) 1) Fichaud 2) Michaud Now from here, we must decide who made the best (and most realistic) trades. We then put those together to create the "best possible" team with the payroll remaining under $48 mil. Anyone can contribute here, but remember, only the trades made above are eligible to be made to create the new team. Have fun! NOTE: I was asked to create a separate thread for this part of the game. The original thread will likely now be closed.
  20. Sakiqc, your lines have been edited. I would've done them last night, but I didn't have a chance, I've been busy with baseball stuff. Sorry for the delay.
  21. Pat Brisson announced last night that his client Sergei Fedorov will not re-sign with the Red Wings. Less than 24 hours later, the Wings announced that they have signed Derian Hatcher to a 5 year, 30 million dollar deal. Click here [Edited on 2003-7-3 by puck7x]
  22. with the Avs! WOW! Their offence won't have any problems this season! http://www.tsn.ca/news_story.asp?ID=46230&hubName=main edited the title [Edited on 2003-7-3 by sakiqc]
  23. Sakiqc, I just looked at your entry now and I saw the lines, my mistake. You have to keep Bouillon and Chara together though, there's nothing like having the league's tallest defenceman with the league's smallest one. As for the lines, I like yours much better, although the ones I posted (through the salary breakdown near the middle) have very good balance-it's hard to distinguish what would be a front line and what would be the 4th lines. That's from a U2U you sent me on June 24-so your line of Hainsey-Quintal should read Brisebois-Quintal, just thought you should know. [Edited on 2003/7/3 by dlbalr]
  24. Thanks Huz, that's my mistake, whoops! PS: Any trades you like/don't like? You may as well participate in the 2nd part of the game...
