  1. Everyone is intitled to their opinions, so you zip it! First of all, a real fan is someone that wants his team to improve and be the best, so sorry for asking that from them:guru: Second, I don't rip players and the team all the time but I can be critical when they don't play up to the level they should be. If you satisfy your self with whatever they do, then I wonder if you are a real fan. Third, I never said that Pittsburgh game was Theo's fault. On the contrary, he played a good game. The type of game he should be giving us most of the times. As for last night, I'm not saying that it was only Theo's fault, but he certainly was a factor. If you can't recognized that, then you don't understand the principle of having a top paid goalie who needs to make the BIG saves WHEN we need him. A team as 2 options, 1) invest in top forwards and D-men to dominate games so that your goalie doesn't get tested too much and that you don't need to rely on him to win or 2) you have good-average forwards and d-men and invest in a top goalie to repair your team mistakes. The Habs are option #2 and Theo as not been there to repair our players mistakes and make the BIG saves. PERIOD! God damn it, how hard is it to understand that he's paid 5.3M$, i repeat 5.3M$, again 5.3M$ and he as not played like a top goalie so far. Sometimes I wonder if some of you guys understand the purpose and reason of having a top paid goalie. If he gets back to playing better, good, but other wise, we need to look into changing our team into option #1. Ottawa as option #1 (Hasek is not paid a lot). Detroit as option #1. Carolina as option #1. Flyers are option #1. See a patern here guys...the top 4 teams are built around option #1. Maybe its the way to go in the new NHL. Maybe having a tp goalie is not important because they are barely better then the other goalies under the new rules and equipment changes. There are many unknowns with all the changes in the league, so be open to other ideas before bitching on other peoples posts. All are wins so far except the Tampa game were because of our team's play, no because of Theo. Danis would have done the same had he been in net...in fact, probablt better with all the bad goals Theo as given up so far.
  2. Last time I checked, your most paid player should be your best player and the one that makes a difference in most games. WOW, Theo made a difference in the Tampa game so far and that's it. 1 lousy game. I said that the other problems also need to be fixed, but Theo as been a problem also so far this year and he needs to be fixed. If you guys can't see that, then you are blinded by your love for the Habs. Did you even ever think that some of our other problems is due to the fact that we lack talent in some areas due to the fact that we can't aford better players because of Theo's contract? Lack of scoring touch is due to lack of scoring talent. We definetly are missing a great offensive player. Look at all the other top teams, they all have 1 awesome or a few very good scoring players. Bad defensive play is due to lack of talent at defense. What did you expect from our D-men, they are an average group and nothing more. Most of you have been blinded by our great start and think that we have this elite team in our hands. If Theo would have made 1 more save (the first 2 goals should have been stopped), we would have won. PERIOD! We have been making all your mentionned mistakes for 18 games now, time to realize that most of them are permanent due to the players talent we have.
  3. Are you actually saying that Theo is playing great and that he's worth is 5.3M$ :?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?-:?- Is that enogh question marks to say that you're out of your mind if you think so. I don't mind to wait and ee if he improves but if he doesn't, then why keep him. Danis could have easily played as well and even better so far. YOU wake up, Theo as been shit this year. I'm not saying he won't improve, but either you don't know hockey or your blind if you think that Theo as been good so far and that he's playing like a 5.3M$ goalie. If you want to keep him on the basis that he will get better and back to his better days, that's fine, but don't take us for fools by saying that he as been doing great so far.
  4. How about a goalie that shows up most of the games, which asn't been Theo's case this year. His stats are proof enough that he asn't been great too often this year. Again, if he was paid 3M$ top, I wouldn't be complaining about him, but you want 5.3M$, play like a elite goalie then! Presently, he is a burden on our cap and on our possibility to improve the team the way is playing. I'm not saying that your other questions are wrong, because yes we do have other problems to fix, but Theo is my biggest concern, If he doesn't improve and stays that way, we have no chance of going far in the payoffs.
  5. I mentionned Zednik because St-Louis is a winger and Tampa will probably want a winger to replace him. They don't need Ribeiro with Lecavalier and Richards. Nothing against Zednik. Him or Ryder were the ideal fit for such a trade (talent and $) put I prefer Ryder over Zednik. We have Latendresse coming up next year so we can afford to trade Zednik. I admit that its a risk for our goalies with Danis and Grahame, but unless Theo sharpens up, I don't see much of a risk there. If we don't try Danis, we will never know how good he can be because with Theo playing over 60 games, we will never have the chance to try him as #1 goalie, so you either take the chance or you eventually trade him and then he could be a Vokoun...
  6. All of you saying that Theo played well yesterday need a reality check. 5 goals on 24 shots...enough said. He should have stopped the first 2 goals, at least 1 of them. The 3rd and 4th was not his fault and the OT one was just a perfect example of going down on the ice way too fast which opened up the entire uper side of the net. Guys, WAKE UP, he's paid 5.3M$, that is because he should be one of the best and making the big saves when we need him and he's simply not doing that...period. Danis would have been a better goalie for us this year. Except the Tampa game, Theo asn't given us a win by him self...in fact he as given up stupid goals and made games much closer then they should have been. I can't believe you guys are protecting him and not realizing how bad and inconsistent is playing this year.
  7. He as been playing well lately, but not last night. Pay good attention in the next few games. Theo only plays well if he gets a lot of shots. He as a hard time being focus when we dominate the other team and then gives up a few bad goals. Sorry, but at 5.3M$, you're paid to make the BIG saves and he didn't do that last night. He should have stopped the SH goal. He was out of position and tried to play fency with is glove. Look at the replay, he makes that little move as if he got it, but it passed by hitting the tip of his glove. Yes, I know, it was a breakaway, but by Ponivawhatever...a loser! But the worst was the OT goal. He said after the game that he wasn't expecting a shot, he thought that TO would pass the puck more because they were on a PP...HELLO, there's 50 secs left in the game, expect anything you IDIOT. Proof that he wasn't concentrated. Again look at the replay, he was in position to make the save but as soon as O'Neill was shooting, he let him self down on the ice too quickly and opened up the uper side of the net. Theo as been going down too quickly way too often this year. He's a short goalie and going down gives a lot of room upstrairs. If he would have stood up, the shot would have hit him in the shoulder...just look at the replay. Honestly, I have been defending is sorry ass all season long, but enough is enough...trade the ######er for a top scoring winger...it would solve are other problem...lack of natural scorers. We keep dominating games but can't score. 4 PP and 18 shots and no goals in the first??? At 5.3M$, he is a burden on the cap. A 2.5 to 3M$ goalie would do as good and we good improve the team somewhere else. I know how to shake is sorry ass...put Danis in net for 4-5 games in a row. He' been doing great at Hamilton...3 straight wins and not more then 2 goals allowed per game with many shots on net. Habs 3 major weaknesses: 1) Theodore at 5.3M$ (its a waste of money) 2) 1 more real good scoring forward 3) a real quarterback for our miserable PP Once Bob will solve these problems, we will be a real dominating team. Tampa wants a new goalie...St-Louis is not playing well...how about a Theo-Zednik trade for Grahame-St-Louis. We are giving up about 7.2M$ of payroll for 7.6M$. We have the cap space. St-Louis is a great french forward, so he would replace Theo nicely for media purposes. Give Danis a chance to be #1, he deserves it and Grahame would be a nice backup with some experience. I know, many of you are going to tell me that I'm an idiot for trading Theo, but I honestly believe that we need to get rid of him...he's not worth 5.3M$ and the way he's been playing, Danis would have done a better job so far..the real question is can Theo get back to is old form and I seriously doubt it. As for my trade offer, don't forget that under the cap rules, we need to pick up as much salary as we give up. Maybe its just my frustration from last night pouring out put Theo is seriously geeting on my nerves. Again, remember what I said, he can only perform when he gets bombarded by shots. His Vezina-Hart year was a bombardement year...think about it guys...is he the guy we need now that we dominate most games at that he gets little action... 8. That is incorrect. Bonk is playing tonight. Sourray said that it will be a last minute decision and Bulis is definetly not playing. All in today's Journal de Montréal. Julien said that Bonk's injury is nothing to worry about and will be playing tonight. Bulis is improving and is a good possibility for the next game. As for Souray, he mentionned that its sensitive and it depends on wheter he can put on his skate without feeling too much pain. Knowing Souray's pain tolerance level, don't be surprised to see him tonight. [Edited on 2005/11/12 by Komisarek the Cruncher]
  9. umm, what you really said is "a journalist covering the Habs here in Mtl mentionned on the radio after the Pittsburgh game that Julien is realy starting to be fedup of Ribeiro" who said what? on what radio station? how reliable is this information? Also remember there is a difference between Julien not happy with Ribeiro and Julien fed up with Ribeiro. :ghg: Its Danny Dubé on CKAC. Danny Dubé is well known for is honesty. He's not the type to say something just to stir up shit like some other journalists. Is exact words were "Julien is starting to be really fed up of Ribeiro and is lack of consistency and hard work and don't be surprised if he does something about it sooner then later". So technically, Julien is unhappy and starting to be realy fed up with Ribeiro.... For those of you who can understand french, he said "commence a être royalement tanné de Ribeiro"...
  10. Because he's -3 and many of his points are on the PP. He's not that great at 5 on 5. But mostly, he needs to play harder and be consistent for 60 mins. He's one of the worst when it comes to consistency. Definetly our #1 guy of doing nothing for 50 mins and waking up in the last 10 mins. He needs to play harder in a more consistent way. He's the #1 guy that can give us more then what he as been giving us so far. Don't forget that he was +15 2 years ago when he was more consistent and playing harder. He's not at a point to be booed but he needs to give us more.
  11. If they can't get it going against the Laffs, then there is a serious motivation problem with this team...I still don't understand why they can't play hard for 60 mins...at least more often. I know its impossible to play 60 mins for 82 games, but they do it to often. Good teams like Ottawa play hard almost all the time...that's what separates the good teams from the great teams.
  12. I agree that there is not much available in Columbus. That I leave it up to Bob... All I'm saying is that Julien is fedup of Ribeiro and you can't put him on a 3rd or 4th line, so its either he stays on the 2nd line or we trade him.
  13. In case you didn't notice, there are less big scoring games lately and more 2-1, 3-2 and shutouts then in the first month of the season. Just take a look at last night results.... Moreover, the Bolts were also scoring 4 to 6 goals a game was bulin was goaling. How hard is it to understand? I'm not saying that Grahame is a great goalie or that is better than Khabibulin. In fact, I think that Khabibulin is slightly better but there is not a big difference between the 2. Give Grahame the same goal support that bulin was getting and nobody would even be talking about him. The Bolts are losing because they are not scoring, which puts even more pressure on Grahame. No, Grahame is not a great #1 goalie, and no, the Bolts will probably not win a cup with him in net, but there biggest problem right now is a lack of scoring. 19th overall and 12th in the conference for goals scored...enough said. Its as simple as 2+2=4...you score 2, you allow 3 = you lose A 3.00 GAA in the new league is not a disaster... Its funny how people forgot that mid-season 2 years ago, bulin was benched because he was horrible and Tampa was looking into trading him and replacing him because they were awesome but felt that they woudln't win the cup with him in net. People only remember what they want to remember and what they are brainwashed to remember...bulin was great in the playoffs and now they see him as always being such a great goalie all of his career when is career stats are average. 14. Not a bad idea. A journalist covering the Habs here in Mtl mentionned on the radio after the Pittsburgh game that Julien is realy starting to be fedup of Ribeiro. He might become trade bait very soon. Don't see him coming back next year. Gainey knows that Souray and Ribeiro are the teams weaknesses and will do something about it eventually. Columbus is apparently looking for an offensive center...
  15. Give me a break with the "Bullin Wall"...the most overrated goalie in the NHL. The guy got on fire towards the late season and in the playoffs 2 years ago and now all of a sudden, he's a awesome goalie? His career starts are average, not more then that. I've read this many times this year in articles by NHL analysts, so I'm not the only one who sees clearly when it comes to Khabibulin. Tampa Bay is 13th overall and 6th in the Esatern conference with a 3.00 GAA, so its not like Grahame is that bad, its because they can't score. Everyone one knows that Tampa Bay has a strong offensive team and an average defensive team. They're the type of team that wins 5-3 or 6-4, not 2-1. They are 19th overall and 12th in the Eastern conference with a 2.89 goals scored per game. Defeinetly not Tampa Bay standard. Hope that this show you guys why they're not winning and stop saying that its because Khabibulin is gone, because its not...what as Khabibulin done with Chicago? He has the worst GAA (3.71) and save % (0.861) in the league amongst starting goalies. I'm really fedup of seeing people think that Khabibulin is a great goalie.
  16. Don't forget that next year, they won't have a Hasek type goalie for 1M$ and will have to spend a little there. Also, Havlat and Spezza are going to cost a lot more also. Any way you look at it, they can't afford to keep the same team and some players will have to go. As for Kost, they way he's playing now, doesn't look like he will make the team next year. He might need a 3rd season in the AHL like Plekanec and Higgins did. I only see Latendresse making the team to replace Dagenais.
  17. Unless a trade takes place (which is HIGHLY UNLIKELY), this won't happen for the length of his present contract, whatever amount of years that might be. :hlogo::ghg::hlogo: It can't happen before 7 years, which is when he will be a UFA. Lets hope that he will want to realize his dream in 2012 :contract:
  18. Its almost a certainty that he will go. Look at their cap space, they can't afford to resign Chara and Redden and its been mentionned that Redden would be the one to go if they had to chose because Phillips is more like a Redden type player then a Chara type player. Would Ottawa risk trading Redden before the trade deadline and by the same time lowering their chances at a cup? I have serious doubts about that. I think that Redden will be a UFA at the end of the year. Then its up to Bob to do his thing. With the season we're having, players will definetly be more interested in coming here then in the past. Now lets all pray that he commes here next year
  19. That's not even funny  Just kidding Its not that I dislike Souray, but he's are worst D-man under the new rules and due to his salary, he's the ideal guy to let go and replace with a top D-man. Just imagine: Markov-Rivet Redden-Komi Bouillon-Dandenault Man that would be awesome:/)
  20. I still think that we need a top D-man to have a dangerous PP and to be a top team. As for the cap space you mentionned before, I agree that I want to retain Koivu and all the others first, but if we still have some room, I would like to replace Souray who is making about 2.5M$ by a top D-man making 4 to 5M$.
  21. There is nothing wrong with our current d-men, but we have zero depth. Nobody really promising in the minors (please, I don't want to ear about Hainsey)...that's the problem. An injury to one of our top d-men, and we are screwed. Also, a top quarterback for the PP would make this team much more dangerous. More over, our D is good, but not great like Ottawa's. A top D-man would make this team simply the top in the league. Imagine replacing Souray's ice time and even more by a Redden type of D-man who plays 30 minutes per game...we would be scarry:/) By the way, Redden will be a UFA next summer :) Such a D-man would also help our transition game and improve our offense. Lets say he asks for 5M$ next year, that's only 2.5 more then Souray and we have the cap space. I know that we will have to wait unil the trade deadline or next summer, but I'm sure that a top D-man is Bob's #1 priority.
  22. I think we're saying pretty much the same thing. Damn its hard to get our real thoughts across in writting:wall: All I'm saying is that he would be considered but has no chance of winning. The Norris is not for the defenseman who collects most points, but for the best defenseman, and any defenseman being in the negative in the +/- rating doesn't deserve to win in my opinion.
  23. I live in Montreal and I would never take this team for granted. I have endured 12 years of misery since the 1993 cup, including the Rejean Houle era, and after that, I will never take them for granted. My favorite habs is Gainey for all is years as an awesome player and captain and mostly for putting us back where we belong... 1st place overall !!!
  24. McCabe is in the Berard category of defenseman. Good offensively but lousy defensively. Take a look at the defense leaders on NHL.com and I prefer almost any of the other top 30 guys then McCabe. I can easily count 20 defensemen that I would prefer before him.
  25. The last part of your post needs to talk to the first:) Consideration as in "is name was thought of because of is points", like a dozen guys would be considered for whatever reasons, but as no shot at the trophy as in "having a real realistic shot". Its not because you are considered (among many other players) that you have a realistic shot at a trophy. There are a couple of guys way ahead of him that he has no chance of winning. Does the name Joni Pitkanen ring a bell. I have him in a pool and this guy is awesome. 4 goals, 11 assits and a NHL league leading +16. Now that is a real Norris trophy candidate.
