  1. i wonder if they have ever considered bringing in a rule whereby the player that instigates the fight is the only one who gets a penalty this would obviously present some problems though
  2. apparently mccarty went after souray though, i guess he got what he deserved then
  3. Souray nails McCarty and cuts him over the eye..........i am not a huge fan of the fighting but it is great to see a habs stand up like this.....it has been sorely lacking
  4. i fully agree, send out ferland and murray to deal with phaneuf
  5. my sister lives out in calgary and is going to the game tonight, i cant believe that she is going to see the habs live before me, woe is me...........
  6. "grammer police".........man they do breed them sort of dumb out there in alberta oh by the way, GO Habs Go!!!!!!!!!!
  7. you could always count on Carbo in a tough situation on the ice, it will be no different behind the bench.
  8. bob did the right thing by not signing him
  9. good points it may be a better strategy to try and sign a guy like fernandez who is a ufa this summer i believe and who has around a 930 save % with a defensive team. keep theo for now while trading huet and danis along with other habs for some peices we need and see how price develops. there is also the ufa market this summer and someone on sportsnet mentioned arnott for our second line center which makes sense now with gainey and carbo controlling the team.
  10. can the habs maintain the momentum from saturday????? Yep!!! at least the team can be confident that they will have a clear, solid gameplan going into this game.....and more than a little inside info considering Carbs was their assistant GM last week. also i wonder if kostitsyn will be on the second line with the B's to replace zednik if he is still injured Go Habs Go!!!!!
  11. that is a pretty rosy assessment....it would be nice if it was true, but i think that going forward either ribs or koivu must leave the team and i dont think its gonna be koivu.....the other thing is that ribs is a floater and thats not the type of player that earns respect from gainey and carbs or koivu.
  12. i saw/heard that too but i think he did say "Ribs" that was my impression at the time, he said "Tell that to Ribs" and then he proceeded to look around and say "Where is he". A while after that they showed them sitting beside each other on the bench and both looked sort of uncomfortable. i think that koivu hates him and probably rightly so but i think that there is a really fundamental personality clash there that could never be bridged
  13. great game by the habs i hope this game marks the turning point in the habs return to the top!!!
  14. Jumpin' Jesus Crimony!!!!!!! the habs looked like the greatest team in nhl history in that second period!!!! :king: :king: :king: :hlogo: :king: :king: :king:
  15. a pretty even period, i thought that the habs would come out with more firepower but san jose is a good defensive team and getting shots was tough in the first. 6-6 after one in shots, theo cant be blamed for the goal but it looks like he is still going down too early. ryder had a couple of great chances but couldnt quite finish, if we continue to play like this and get a few bounces around the net we should be fine this game another thing i noticed in the first, there were no penalties for the habs, is tightening the discipline another of the new focuses, i hope so.
  16. man am i excited for this game, the team will be fired up for sure!!! two of the habs greatest living captains on the bench is sure to make a difference. it will be interesting to see the lines and who responds the most. this is obviously a huge game for theo and could start him back on the right track, or seal his fate in montreal......oohhhhhh the drama. i look for begin and the rookies to have a big game. also i think that kovy will benefit from juliens absence and his no-offense conservative hockey. half an hour until gametime...... prediction 4-2 habs go habs go :hlogo:
  17. although i have nothing against julien personally, i didnt like the way he coached and i think that this is a great move for the habs. as others have stated there is nowhere to hide now and gainey will really have the inside feeling of the team and the dressing room. julien was too soft with his tactics on the ice and off the ice with the players, the nice father figure that worked in junior didnt translate to the pros. this is another move in gaineys plan to build a hardworking team built around youth and speed, exactly what most habs fans want. carbs was always one of my favourite players and it is awesome to see him back with the habs. i am sure he will improve the PK and should be great for the development of our young two-way forwards and providing a general attitude of pride and respect in hard work. this off-season, and possibly the trade deadline, will see gainey remove the rest of the dead weight from this team and with the coaching changes, really set it off in the direction of his grand vision. the future just got brighter...........go :hlogo: go
  18. the fat continues to be trimmed from this team by gainey.....the roster continually improves under his guidance.
  19. .......but i do think that trading theo does make a lot of sense, not right now, but closer to the deadline as we could likely get more for him then. i have come to the belief that his little buddies dagenais and ribeiro, who weren't hanging around him all the time during his one good year by the way, have poisoned his mind and his attitude. i think that what he had when he was an mvp is now lost or buried and that winning this award at that time in his career was awful for him as a hockey player. it seems to have gone straight to his head and hanging out with prima donnas like ribs and dags sure isn't helping anything. we could trade theo for a top d man or forward no question. why not do this when he hasnt played well this year at all and has shown in the playoffs, just as in his individual games, that he can be oh so hot and then just go oh so cold in the blink of an eye. the habs problem has been goal scoring for a long time now and that is what we should address. by trading theo we add a great offensive talent or a dman to move the puck and work the powerplay......either way the offense most likely improves and with a huet/danis combo we dont take a loss in the net either. as mentioned by many other posters there are a crop of good free agent goalies this summer that wont be commanding near the 6 million theo will be making next year. we could sign one of these goalies and another defenseman for that money and still have huet/danis/other youngsters in the system. makes sense to me......and another thought, if theo really was that great of a playoff miracle goalie, why didnt he take us to the finals in any of those years after beating boston????? like certain others in recent years giguere, irbe, kiprusoff and others who led underdog teams to the finals???? a question worth asking maybe. :hlogo:
  20. I dont think this would be a very good trade for the habs at all :puke:
