sakiqc
Vydareny was the 10th prospect on the Vancouver depth chart last year (dunno now thought) He is a slovakian dman .. has 12 points in 50 games in the AHL Stats: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdispla...p3?pid=00047630

Habs77
He's 22 years old, left-handed defenceman, 6 foot 1, 198 lbs, drafted in 3rd round by Vancouver in 99.Has plenty of offensive upside. Skates very well and moves the puck quickly. Needs to start turning potential into points in order to get noticed. Must continue to work on his defensive game. CAREER POTENTIAL: No. 6 or 7 defenseman ------------------------------------------------------------------------ He was one of Vancouver's 10 ten prospects in the 2003-04 Hockey Forecaster. Here's what they said: "An excellent puck moving defenceman, Vydareny skates well for a big man. Unfortunately, he's somewhat challenged in his own end. He also lacks consistency. The Slovakian had been on the verge of a promotion for quite some time but has yet to see any NHL action." In the 2002-03 edition, they noted that Vydereny: "is a fantastic skater and had good puck skill despite not putting up much in the way of numbers." ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Vydareny, the Vancouver Canucks 3rd round pick (69th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, weights in at 198 lbs for a height of 6'1". He will report to the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs. He's a big D who skates well and decent puck skills, still only 23 when some D men only find themselves around age 25-27. Worst case scenario he's a warm body to replace Traverse & Dykhuis in Hamilton next year. This is a potential steal (or bust) for a guy we couldn't care less about in Blouin. Great trade. Habby1197
Good move for Habs... added depth on LD for a loser like Blouin... I mean even if he never plays a game in the NHL, it's a good move.
Toren
It's just a case of teams getting rid of players they've given up on, or have no use for in their future. The Canucks like to have tough 4th line, and Blouin will be there if an injury happens.
Quebecois
We automatically win this deal, Blouin had to be our most useless player. Anything Vydareny brings to us is just a bonus. Good trade.
Zowpeb
Here's what Hockey's Future had to say... http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect.php?pid=111 Seems to think his future is as a 3rd pairing type guy...good offense, poor positioning and needs to improve physical game. Now HF is sometimes slow in their updates so he might be better now. Positioning can easily be worked on. The physical game will come as he gets more comfortable with the north american game, gets a little older and puts on some muscle. Won't ever be a physical player but just needs to be strong in front of his own net considering his current skill set. I'm thinking Andre Savard is the guy who pushed for this deal... Not bad to get a guy who is likely a future NHL regular(albeit more of a depth guy...) for Blouin.

Toren
The physical game will come as he gets more comfortable with the north american game, gets a little older and puts on some muscle. He's 23 and he's been playing in North America since he was drafted in '99. I'm thinkin' that's long enough Worst case scenario, we have Karl Dykhuis 2 on our farm. Best case scenario, another decently sized puck-moving defenceman. [Edited on 2004/3/10 by Toren]
