Pierre the Great
SNP predicts big win in May election The Scottish National Party claims that it is on track for an overwhelming victory in elections for the Scottish Parliament in seven weeks’ time (Angus Macleod writes). The party has conducted its own poll, which suggests that the nationalists are on course to win 46 seats on May 3 — 20 more than they achieved in 2003 and 6 more than Labour, who would lose 10 seats and be down to 40. Such a result would give the SNP leadership of the Scottish Executive for the first time since devolution, and the power to deliver its promise of a referendum on independence from the rest of the UK by 2011 http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1511604.ece What's Gordon Brown the future PM to do..... (he's Scottish and so is Tony Blair btw) http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...8k&refer=uk
Bacchus
When was the UK truely united? Never in my recollection. That being said, Scotland will suffer if it goes independent from the UK.
Pierre the Great
Really? They'd adopt the Euro and go neutral 'like Norway'. according to their manifesto: http://www.snp.org/independence/questions/government/ They'd also pull out of NATO because of nuclear weapons. Dirty Harry
I bet if scotland hadnt been run as such a welfare case for the last 60 years this wouldn't be happening. What a load of populist bs. An independent Scotland will be making a number of savings on defence. To start with, we won't be paying for Trident, the UK's nuclear weapons system which is currently based at Faslane on the Firth of Clyde. That doesnt even make sense!
