Where is the team that was so exciting at the begining of the season?

That question has been haunting me before Kovalev got his surgery. Where did the never say die go? This is what we lived on when the team was less experienced and less talented. We need another grinder up front. I almost wish they would just take the risk and call up Latendresse, trade Bonk for a first rate goon to protect him. We can't wait 3/4s of the season for Ivanans to get back.

OK, I'm back with a XXL-cup full of Blackberry tea! It must work! :)

How many times do I have to tell you that the tea is jinxing us!!

JeanLucPilon better grow a ghoti and hide up in the mountains because if the Habs find him he'll never walk again. (e.g. throw into Ivanans' cage.)

I'd love it for one of Ivanans first orders of business to be to take that guy out on a stretcher

I'm not sure what we can do. If we want to get an asset in a trade, we're going to have to give one up. And even though we have a lot of useful players, not all of them will fetch anything in the trade market. I just don't know who can be moved for anything remotely valuable.

I heard the third period on the radio. Ouch.

On the bright side, we have two good things to look at.

1) On all 3 of our one-sided losses this season we outshot the opponent (27-26 tonight).

um...what? how is that good? it shows that the Habs can't score

I was going to edit it because I wasn't sure if it was good or bad. It depends how you look at it. I'd rather play well and get blown out then just wathc the other team skate laps around you and get blown out.

And the second point is only too true. Had we won this game then we could iwn any game. Turns out we can't.;)

I consider it bad. It means we hit the bullseye on the goalies chest too much. I think it's time to give up a defensive player for an offensive player. (I hate to get the "WE LOST! TRADE EVERYONE!!! OMG!!!111one!!!" ball rolling, but this is something I've been wanting for awhile. Sunny or (LOOK AWAY BTH!! LOOK AWAY) Bulis should be on their way out for someone that can score.

Yes. You are right. Bonk is a biggest negative surprise of this season (imho). Bigger than St. Louis. I didn't understand this. Such a talented young player he was and great outputs in Ottawa than. :?-

They can't call back Latendresse because he went back to the QMJHL. He isn't back til next year. I don't see any blockbuster deals in the offing. Time for Babs to be patient.

Of course, a power forward and an offensive defenceman (à la Gonchar) would be nice but we have nothing of trade value that we're willing to trade. Ribeiro has value but he also has value to this team. I don't think I'm ready to lose him. Andy Delmore would be a nice pick-up. He's cheap and great at quarter-backing the PP. He can't play defence but we have good defensive d-men (Markov, Rivet, Bouillon, Komisarek). We need someone to replace Streit (who is our PP specialist) so a better PP specialist like Delmore who plays about the same game defensively would be great. He's on minors, I think, so Columbus obviously doesn't want him.

Okay, I'm ranting. Anyway, I do believe that it's time for a trade.

Yes, no trades. The quick fix won't get us anything. Better to give the impression that we are waiting things out. That way we actually can wait things out and maybe some offers might come our way. The next two months could be very hard to watch even when Kovalev gets back.

Quite! I'd like to see how much the Sens would enjoy being Chara-less for a few months.

I'm not sure how tradeable Bulis and Sunny are. Sunny is one of my favourite players because when I play hockey I play a similar game to his. Bulis tries all the time. Also, considering our GM is Bob Gainey and our assistant coach is Doug Jarvis, I think that type of player is valued to the organization.

I don't think anyone ever brought this up on the boards before but I wonder how much one of the rookies can get us. Perezhogin, Plekanec and Higgins are not only great but young and many rebuilding teams like Florida and Columbus would want them. If we could get a good offer for say Perezhogin then I wouldn't mind it.

But how good of a scorer would Sundstrom or Bulis get us? It's not like we'd be getting Dany Heatley back or something...

Some teams might actually need a defensive forward more than a goal scorer. I'm not saying we get back someone better, but with many defensively responsible forwards I think it's worth the gamble. Give me someone that can finish on the third line and push for a second line spot when there are injuries, then I'm happy.

Yes Lister, very hard to watch ... they have no drive. It's like they've given up, used Kovalev, Markov, Souray as excuses?? I don't know. Passes aren't crisp, stupid stupid penalties are taken left right and center ... that to me is a lack of concentration. So where's Julien ... he needs to shake those guys up ... get their drive going.

Not the right thread for this, but everyone keeps talking about offence, why not pick up a guy with skills a la huselius and see if he works out here, he is on waivers. He has skills just needs to show some heart

Players with heart problems right now are the biggest concern. I wouldn't want to add anymore talented slumbering players. We need a young Doug Gilmour or like someone else said a Laperriere. I don't see anyone putting guys like this on the auctioning block

Lappy scored twice tonight and it's 2-1 Colorado. This guy is becoming a sniper.

I'm watching the highlights. Alfredsson's goal is embarassing. Where's the D? Jose looked like shit on Fisher's goal. I'm not sure how he played but he let in 4 goals on 26 shots. Not the greatest stats ever. Ryder took out his frustration on Havlat. He has a dislocated shoulder and apparently it looks like 4-6 weeks. Will this slow down the Sens? Not a chance. It didn't last time. He only came back and scored 6 goals in 2 games.
