KoZed
I was just having a little fun browsing hockeydb.com when I decided to make a little update on our prospects outside of the NHL/AHL. Its not meant to be an exhaustive list because there's stats missing for this season, but its a nice little update notheless. Name Pos GP G A Pts PIM +/- Birthdate Long Beach Ice Dogs -------------------------------------- Christian Larrivee C 34 13 19 32 50 -4 08/25/1982 Cory Urquhart C 30 7 10 17 14 -2 10/01/1984 Jimmy Bonneau L 32 0 5 5 79 4 03/22/1985 Name GP Min GA GAA W L T ENG SO Saves SvPct Birthdate Jaroslav Halak G 8 331 10 1.81 2 2 1 0 1 135 0.931 05/13/1985 Olivier Michaud G 5 254 12 2.83 1 2 1 1 0 113 0.904 09/14/1983 Europe -------------------------------------- Tomas Linhart D 39 1 0 1 28 3 02/16/1984 Konstantin Korneyev D 23 0 3 3 4 0 06/05/1984 Alexei Yemelin D 32 4 5 9 91 0 04/25/1986 Mikhail Grabovsky C 34 4 12 16 22 0 01/31/1984 Juniors -------------------------------------- Dany Stewart L 31 15 26 41 46 -7 04/23/1985 Kyle Chipchura C 32 9 20 29 39 -1 02/19/1986 Greg Stewart R 33 13 9 22 51 9 05/21/1986 Alex Dulac-Lemelin D 39 8 7 15 42 4 03/17/1986 Guillaume Latendresse R 26 22 19 41 57 2 05/24/1987 Mathieu Aubin C 42 28 32 60 41 -4 09/18/1986 Matt D'Agostini R 40 16 33 49 46 13 10/23/1986 Sergei Kostitsyn R 34 17 33 50 34 0 03/20/1987 Notice that all 4 forwards we drafted last summer are scoring over a point per game in average. Not too bad. Edited January 11, 2006 by KoZed
alexstream
Thx, good to see them all together all at once, I browse there too once in a while, but never made a table worthy of the name. Here is some prospect bashing : -Urquart really blows (and to think he was taken only a few spots ahead of Patrice Bergeron when Bergeron was CLEARLY the safest pick although way smaller... they went off road with that pick and they got lost deep in the woods) -Michaud : Can we say he's finished, there are what? 5 goalies ahead of him in the organisation -Grabovski has cooled down, he was outperforming Andrei Kostitsyn last season and I was almost thinking that of the two, HE was the star making Andrei look good enough to be drafted in 1st round (e.g. Gagné making Éric Chouinard look good, both were drafted in 1st round in 1998), however, he might still develop into a good player. -Chipchura! I love him... but poor guy, he's the best scorer of his team... -Latendresse : Ribeiro welcomed you in the league, that's not a reason to follow the example and stop working!! (he has slowed down majorly, he gained weight and was better at Habs TC than at junior TC) (however his Q production is good) Some praising : Mathieu Aubin and Sergei Kostytsyn are two gems in the rough in this year's draft, really! Can't wait to see Yemelin in AHL next season Chipchura! I love him... but poor guy, he's the best scorer of his team... at least it shows that he does have some scoring. Actually Grabovsky has been heating up of late after a really slow start. But to be fair there are lots of problems with the entire team and organization. First the team can't buy a goal. In decemeber the first five games they had 1 goal each game and only once in the month did they score more then 2 goals. After losing guys like Markov and Ovechkin, they replaced them with some of the top scorers in the RSL last season in Sushinsky, Rosa and Grabovsky. Sushinsky had over 50 pts, Rosa 40 + pts and Grabovsky had 36 pts, all in the top 20 in scoring with Sushinsky one of the top scorers in the league. So you would think that they wouldn't have any problem scoring, bringing in vets like Sushinsky and Rosa. But so far it hasn't been a very good season for Sushinsky, Rosa and Grabovsky but they are 1-2-3 in team scoring. The organization is in big trouble. It's hard to get good info but the word is that Dynamo is in big financial trouble and that the players haven't been paid in months, which might explain why they aren't doing well as a team. I don't know if it will be as bad as it was for Lada (Emelin's team) as Lada had to cut it's staff, cut the teams budget by 50 % and that forced most of their top players to leave. I will try and keep up with what's going on over there. Grabovsky has turned it on of late, getting 7 pts in the last 2 weeks or so (hard to say since Dynamo took a brake in the season to represent Russia at the Euro Champions Cup) At the ECC, which is a short tournament made up of the Euro league teams that win their league championship the year before. So Russia, Sweden, Finland, Swiss, Czechs, Slovaks, Germans, all send the team that won their league champ last year. We had Grabovsky, Korpikari and Linhart all playing there (with older prospects Mikkola, Ujick there) Also this was Markov's and Bulis's team as both of them won a league championship last year with Dynamo and Pardubice. During this years tournament, Grabovsky was tied for the tournament lead in points with 8 in 3 games, was named to the tournament All Stars and was named the tournaments top forward. The funny part is that this year championship game was between Karpat and Dynamo or Korpikari vs Grabovsky. Last years championship game was between Karpat and Omsk or Korpikari vs Perezhogin. As for gems I'd add Matt D'Agostini, I really like the way he plays the game, although he's on the small side, he's very fast and plays a smart two way game. Aubin I am not a huge fan of, he's a bit too soft imo but we'll see what he does in Hamilton next year.
smon
Poor Michaud. I recall when after injuries to both Theo and Hackett..and maybe Garon too. He played 4-5 games with the team in the NHL that year while still a teenager.

I've been to 2 Storm games this season and both times he has been rather impressive. He pretty much does it all, he kills penalties, plays up front on the PP and back at the point. The last time i went they lost 5-1 to Brampton, but I would say that he was the best player on the ice for the Storm, and that includes Ryan Parent, although he only arrived halfway through the game. The first Storm game i went to was against London to see Sergei, but i left rather unimpressed. I think he was a -3 that night, and really produced little offensively. To be fair though, it was his first game back from the WJC, where he was apparently a dominant force.

zumpano21
I have my doubts about Chipchura and him making it permanently to the team. Yes, he captained the Juniors to the Championship but I don't think he has the wheels to make it to the show. I'm hoping he proves me wrong. Quebecois
Just thought I'd let you all know that Guelph is playing London on Sportsnet tonight. Good chance to see both D'Agostini and Kostitsyn...
