Spider-Man NL
TSN.ca Staff 12/17/2003 The Buffalo Sabres may be looking to move forward Miroslav Satan. The Buffalo News quotes sources who say owner Thomas Golisano is not impressed with Satan's lacklustre play of late and is ready to dump the forward and his salary. "There is no doubt (Golisano is) not happy with (Satan)," said the unnamed source. "He feels almost misled about him." Satan, who has three points in his last three games, still has two years and $10-million left to go on his deal with the Sabres. General manager Darcy Regier said last week that while he had talked about trade possibilities with Satan, no deal is imminent at this point. "I'm not actively shopping Miro," Regier tells the newspaper. NHL teams have until Friday to make trades before a moratorium kicks in until December 27. Satan is on pace for one of his worst offensive seasons in NHL history. He has nine goals and five assists in 32 games which includes tallying just three points in the month of November. His minus-16 rating is among the NHL's worst and he is on pace to finish at minus-41. After missing most of training camp in a contract dispute, Satan seemed to put the controversy behind him, starting the season with four goals in seven games. His troubles began when he was removed as the team's captain back in early November. He failed to score in 19 of the next 20 games including 12 straight without a goal. "Anytime players struggle, (a trade) is always an option," said Sabres coach Lindy Ruff. "The last three games is probably the best hockey I've seen (Satan) play this year from an energy standpoint, an emotional standpoint and getting physically involved, getting inside and hitting." TheAussiePosse
Satan would be a great player to aquire (he had good chemistry with Zednik last summer on Team Slovakia). However, his moodiness and salary are concerns, and if we are looking to go with the youth movement, he doesn't really help us that way
simonus
is it really such a great idea to pick up an offensive forward who might very well be past his days of peak performance (for $5mil a year no less)?
ch_nl
To expensive. And we need a big american-power forward. Not a lazy slovakian bum that just whines about his salary.
