Enseignant
Hello everyone, I've recently taken the plunge and begun to dedicate a lot more of my free time to the Habs! Living in England, you can understand that that is quite the demanding thing! I've cast longing looks to Montreal for quite some time now, and I plan to holiday over there in the next few months - all being well. I just wanted to introduce myself and get to know a few board members. I'm a primary school teacher (hence the name) and I have been extolling the virtues of the Habs to my colleagues for some time...much to their ignorance, really! J'ai aussi commencé à apprendre la langue française. Je ne suis pas sûr encore assez!
dlbalr
Welcome to the board. What attracted you to the Canadiens over the other teams?
KoRP
Hello Enseignant, welcome to the board!
Enseignant
Thanks for the welcome, guys. I have far more of an affinity with Canada than I do with America...it's somewhere I've always wanted to go. I love the look of various places and I think I could easily spend a year over there and not get bored for one second! The Canadiens seemed to appeal to me more than any other team though. Partly their history, partly the melting pot elements of the town, partly the French, Irish and Scottish influences (I have family from all three countries!) and partly due to the lack of recent success. I know that sounds odd, but I'd rather support a club that appreciates success and aspires towards it. Watching the CH24 episodes on YouTube and the Nilan documentary, "Last Gladiator" it was clear to me that the need for success permeates the club, but it's a TEAM belief that wins out. A family. Not a faceless "franchise" like...well...we all know the types of places I mean. They might have "better" players than us this year, but we still have our soul. dlbalr
Here's hoping we'll see a lot more of that success next season. This one has been tough from a fan standpoint, that's for sure.
Fanpuck33
Welcome to the club of people, like me, love the Habs despite no ties whatsoever to the city of Montreal, haha!
