2. Not to pick on you, but I'd like to take this moment to illustrate a small point. Two years ago, 2009-2010 season, the Habs beat the Caps and Pens during their Cinderella march into the playoffs. And we went on to the Conference Finals! A season isn't won or lost in November. Look at the players; we're a much better team now than we were then! Hell, a couple of years before that (I'm done digging stats for now), Detroit started terribly, and I think either went very deep or won the Cup. I get that the start has been frustrating and there have been more than a few things that have irked. But let's not throw in the towel quite yet. Wasn't it Wamsley (and me years before) who preached over and over about not rating a team so early in the season? Considering the turmoil, I'm actually pretty stoked about where the team is today. Price, I think we're seeing now, isn't going to be a one-year wonder. He's looking as stalwart as ever. We've dealt with injuries to almost *all* our key guys, many concurrently, and we're still only one game under .500 and a mere four points out. With five games left in the season, there's still a chance to make the playoffs when you're four points out!! Even if the other team plays .500 hockey. Hell, we're four points out and our captain started injured, our star scoring forward (Cammi) has been or has played injured for half the season. Gomez, even if he isn't worth his money, has still been injured most of the season, and he would have given us more. Our All-Star defender hasn't played a minute. His replacement for the PP played 11:05-ish. Our new boy took five or six games to find his stride (perfectly reasonable, particularly given his playing time early on). Eller is really only just rounding into form now after missing training camp and half the summer from injury. We've lost Kosty, Spacek, White... Okay, injuries aren't excuses, but they are *reasons.* With all these players in the lineup, I think we have a few more points. As it is, we're on the cusp. And I haven't even started on the back room intrigue (Pearn, etc). Don't get me wrong, I'm not *happy.* But to be so pessimistic with all the positives. Cole, looking like the PF we crave. Patches, whose game has taken another giant stride. Plex who continues to roll. Kosty looks better this season. PK is controlled out there. And we still have Markov, Cammi, Gomez, White, Campoli who will all come back to the squad to improve it. I'm happy to stay in touch with what we've got until they get back. More than that, we play the best defensive game we've seen in years, so there's every reason to believe that, if the posts stop killing us, we might just pick up a couple more wins that we really deserve. (When was the last time this team wasn't regularly outshot?) Plenty of time, Hab fans. Lets enjoy what's on the ice and take heart in the positive. Despite the start, this is the best Habs team in over a decade. EDIT, oh I'm having WORDS with the editor now. I have to make all these columns work! Going to be here all night. Okay, that's all you get. I'm tired, so this is good enough.

 3. Sorry - and I'm not saying JM is God - but I can't help wondering where are all those expert Habs fans who are SOOOO critical of JM's 'obsolete' conservative style and wish, wish, wish we had just held onto that wonderful Boucher with his electrifying, innovative hockey mind. If he goes 1-3-1 because Hedman is out, what would he do with Markov/Campoli/Cammalleri/Kostitysn/Gomez? Stack five men in the net behind Price?

 5. They both sit, because the only way to teach a rookie is to make him second guess every play he makes. If he isn't perfect like Gill or Spacek, he doesn't deserve time. Martin does a great job at building confidence.

 7. Okay, new topic: Capitalism cannot work. It must have a socialist base in order for society to function fairly and effectively. Discuss.
