  1. Like I said earlier its back to back games, and they are still playing. We are lucky its not 4-0 or worse. This is the 1st back to back game that I have seen in a while where they came out to play. If it wasnt for BGL 6 mins of penalties this game would be a lot different. If the Habs score quickly in the 3rd this back to back game is still winnable.
  2. What? The Habs have lots of grinder type prospects but they have 0 prospects that can fight. You really think other teams will be saying "dont run Price or Stewie will get you" Actually they probably would say that, but sarcastically.
  3. I'm not happy they are loosing, but I am amazed at their play thus far. They are playing in back to back games and they still have gas in the tank.
  4. Hmm, should O'Bryne be promoted to 2nd line? Apparently he is more 1 timer aware than AKosts.
  5. wth was that. Whats with players skating off doing bizare line changes when the puck is in Wash end?
  6. Shitty, that would have been huge for A Kosts confidence.
  7. Price seems in the zone tonight. I hope he stones em all.
  8. D'oh, I totally thought I saw that go in, but it was just the strap on the goalies leg pad.
  9. What is the difference between signing high-profile UFAs and then ship 'em out of town vs trading every soon to be UFA at the trade deadline? Hehehe. Personally I would prefer being signed and then traded before the season started. You would never play with the team, get to know anybody, or even have to move there. Imagine Gill with a wife and kids worrying where he will end up in the last year of his contract. I doubt any of them would have singed with the Habs if Bob had traded all the guys "he lost for nothing" that most people bitch aboot. You are right that dont need to hit rock bottom to have a good team. However the Habs arent doing the things that the teams who are competitive every year are doing to be able to pull it off with prolonged suckage. Until Bob starts doing several of the things I repeatedly say the only way they can win is like Pitts, Wash, Chi, St Loius, by sucking hard and getting numerous top 5 picks,. The Habs simply arentdoing the things the Wings etc do like smart drafting (low amount of off to college for 4 freaking years), signing guys who want to play for you for way under their market value, and smart asset management (signing guys who want to stay for cheap right when they say it). umm didnt everybody say that last year? The further he goes into his contract the better and easier it becomes to move.
  10. Well the usual statements of "oh, they are at the cap, absolutely nothing Bob could do" suggest the opposite. Trades are possible Eh. Sure Bob would loose trading A Kosts, but theres only 1 trade Bob has out right won, so its kinda a moot point. The point is to make the team better for less money. Bob can be classy, but the way he handled Lang and Tangs was highly disrespectful. If Tangs has a NTC with TB, I highly doubt he would consider waiving it to return to Montreal. OK, heres a better hypothetical scenario: What if after July 1st and Cammy and Gio signed and had Kovalchuck been a UFA last summer, and wanted to play for the Habs for $5 mil/season x 10 yrs. "Oh Habs were at the cap, nothing could be done". BS. Sign Kovalchuk, and trade Hamrlik for a bag of pucks if need be just to dump the salary to fit in a much superior player whos way better dollar value. Signing guys who with talent who want to play for you for cheap is a no brainier. However Bob has failed to do this every time he could have capitalized on it. There wasnt room to fit in perennial 60+ pts/year Dumont either. :puke: JP wanted 2-2.5 mil/yr, and he is currently a 70 pt+ guy making $5 mil/yr. Again smart move Bob.
  11. It wouldnt even be a classic Kosto wrastling match. Kosto would have to literally jump right onto Moen and drag him down to have any chance of saving face.
  12. Did my eyes deceive me or did Gui just beat 2 Cannes in a foot race to the puck in the Cannes end?
  13. How could they when I'm replying to your bunk. w/e, your being stupid. I said Bob should have signed Lang and Tangs and traded A Kosts. the example I gave was hypothetical. This is the 4th time trying to explain a concept most children would get. For the 4th time its not rocket science.
  14. No really, you are the 1 who isnt making sense. Sure, Bob acted on July 1st and was 95% done due to cap restrictions. However its a long summer, and the cap doesnt come into effect until the season actually starts. Teams can in fact go over the cap in the summer before the season starts. hypothetical example: if Kovalchuk had been a UFA this summer, Bob signs Cammy for 6 mil, and Gionta for 5 on July 1st putting the Habs withing 1 mil of the cap. In the begining of August Kovalchuck wants to be a habs, and signed for 11 mil. Bob has the rest of August to trade Cammy & Gionta 11 mil in contract to fit in Kovalchuks 11 mil contract. Get it? Its not hard. If Bob had been in contact with Lang, Tangs, and even Cube, and asked for an opportunity to match then the Habs would be the team who got deals on all 3. It highly dont think that Bob didnt want these guys back, its that the Habs couldnt afford them at the rates they were previously making. Had Bob shown interest and asked for a chance to match any contract offer they got, they would all still be Habs now. All 3 wanted to play in Montreal but it was Bob who showed not interest because of what Bob thought they would want. Bob was wrong aboot how much they would sign for and they all signed for way less with teams none of them wanted to play for.
  15. I'll go over it 1 more time: Its a fact that Tangs and Lang signed at lower rates. Yes, they waited for the best offer and then accepted lesser deals. Bob didnt think he could get them back, they wanted to much money. Yes, the team was 95% done. However, why couldnt have Bob been in touch with them and been given a chance to match? This could have happened and the Habs got the deals on their contracts. Neither of them wanted to leave, so I'm pretty sure both would accepted those contracts to stay where they liked playing. After all the both accepted those contracts at low values to play where they didnt want to go but had to because of no other interest. Yes, then the Habs would be over the cap. Yes that what trades are for. Its not rocket science. Get it now?
  16. Personally I'm not that concerned aboot the UFAs hat have walked for "nothing". What really grinds my gears is all the UFAs that wanted to stay that Bob didnt even contact at all during the off seasons. Ironically everybody says Carbo had a lack of communication, but I swear it is Bob who lacks communication more. Think aboot it: Theres been too many guys who actually liked Montreal, but were making to much to return at their current rates but accepted dirt cheap contracts elsewhere. Why didnt Bob stay in contact with these guys and matched their new lower value contracts? It makes no sense. Look at the list: Bonk made 3+ mil, signed with Nash 1.25, Tangs 5.3 mil, with TB for 2.5, Lang 4 mil, Pho 1 mil, etc. These deals could have been the Habs, if only Bob had communicated with them and showed desired for them to return but we have to fit you into the cap instead of the "oh they'll want to much, dont even call them" attitude. Sure bringing back Tangs for 2.5 mil and Lang at 1 mil would put Habs over the cap, but not after trading away A Kosts. Who would you rather have for close to 3.5 mil? A Kosts? or Tangs and Lang? Its a no brainer. Guys who are good enough, and want to play for the Habs at reduced rates should be allowed.
  17. Oh, I totally agree. I beleive Kozed means that if they are going to pick somebody big, then pick somebody big. The people who say Patches is "big" are on glue. He's 6' 2" 190 lbs. Sorry to break it to you but thats not big, and even if he does put on alot of weight he still wont be "big" in the NHL. Personally I have completely given on Patches ability to grow 2"+ and gain 30 lbs+. Patches will never be big. There is absolutely no excuse for it. There isnt. Think aboot all the ex Habs alumni who are highly involved in the QMJL. How can the Habs be so inept at picking French players from a league thats full of ex Habs alumni? Patrice Bergeron was passed over by the Habs 2 or 3 times. Sure he might have had a bad year in his last Junior year, but 1 of the ex Habs alumni must have known why, so why didnt the Habs know this and been on the ball? The entire QMJL is basically a giant Habs training camp yet they seem to drop the ball and pass over on so many good French players. If any team should have insider trading info it should be the Habs, but look around almost all other NHL teams have picked better French players, and after the Habs passed on them. Just out of curiosity I can only wonder if this scout was the same ass clown that said Briere was too small to be in the NHL back when the Habs could have got him off waivers for nothing.
  18. Or does it make the Habs dmen look really inept? It looks like Phoenix has several really good young d prospects. Bob should try to trade the Kosts bros for Lang and 1 of their young dmen.
  19. Damn Price, trying to limbo under Mara's stick like that. :puke: Hows that?
  20. Yep, Mara semi speared Price right in the throat. Why isnt Price wearing a throat protector? Arent they mandatory for goalies?
  21. I think blaming Mara is silly. How much time does a goalie need to be prepared to stop a break away that starts 140 feet away? Even mistakes that happen at the other teams blue line result in goals basically every time. I wont say Price should have had it, but it wasnt that hard of shot. However for the people wanting to place blame on that goal blame Laps. Watch him float back and not do much to try to stop Tangs. If Laps had put a bit more effort into actually back checking instead of just back skating he could have tried to accost Tangs in some way instead of just gliding along behind Tangs. Also Gui was uber weak with with the puck which lead to Mara loosing it at the blue line. Gui started that entire sequence. Here here. When somebody makes a stupid mistake I will definitely point it out. I dont care who it is or how big of a following they have. In the Cal game both Kipper and Halak were good, but Kipper was just a bit better.
  22. I was going to say the same thing. I definitely vote yes to bringing that rule back. Think of all the Cups the Habs would have won had they had 1st dibs on Brodeur, Mario, Vinny, Aucion, Tangs, Briere, Giguere, etc The rescinding of that rule robbed of us all of many Cups.
  23. for the love of God. Can the Habs not end a game down by a goal on the PK?
